300 Good reports achieved!

Do you not think such a request for merit rewards for reporting posts would lead to something else on this platform? Members always have their ways whenever they have an opportunity, and it leads to farming and spamming the platform with unnecessary posts from newbies, all of it just to farm merits. If you ask me, I would prefer that there is nothing for the willingness to report posts that are misleading and deceitful. It should be a voluntary exercise, and anyone can do it freely if they encounter such. It is our own way of helping the mods to keep the platform neat.

I don't see anything wrong for asking a reward for reporting posts because there's an effort you give.

We have seen many people are complaining about spam or low value post, what was the reason behind that? for sure the number of users who report the post is lower than the spammers.

If there's a reward, this will encourage people to report a post including the post that didn't break any rules, as long as they can get the reward.

But, 1 good report for 1 merit is too much, 100 good reports for 1 merit seem a fair deal.

Can I ask you, if you were walking down the road and saw trash near your house, would you step over it, or would you try to clean it up and create a clean space for yourself (and specifically for yourself)?

The same applies not only to the forum, but to everything around you. It's sometimes surprising to read about people asking for gratitude for every step they take. Should we understand that our kindness has a price?

I have just over 13,200 good reviews, and I've never once thought that clicking the "Report" button was worth the merits.

If they did give merit per report it would be abused. Create an alt spam the forum and use your main account to report

The abuse could be worse when you consider same post can be reported by multiple account and there are ways to make spam post automatically.

It clearly depends on the rule and the frequency that this rule is violated at. Personally, I'm ok with banning permanently. I think this ban mostly applies to professional trolls and scammers, who are not welcome anywhere anyways.

You have a nice rating concerning your report, though 97% accuracy is not that bad, but also shows that at least we still need more to understand about a post before reporting if we cant at least arrive at 99.9 % accuracy while reporting, but honestly, you had a nice record and also have joined in the combat against post that needed to be reported to the moderators for proper action, which i see as our individual contribution in helping sanitize the forum, 301 good reports is also a huge figure that shows your resilience in doing it at the best, some couldn't have achieve to this extent, let the ball keep rolling.

Why does it need to have a reward? You report posts that you think are spam or suspicious to at least help the forum and make the mods work a bit easier. To be honest, being able to unlock the feature to see the status of the reports you've made is enough of a "reward" for it. Anyway, congrats on reaching 300 good reports.

Although you may be right that it's unnecessary to ask for a reward in form of merits after all they are only playing their roles in maintaining the sanity of this place in terms of wiping out spam or shit posters but you'd agree with me that the thought of being merited for every good report you make would double the hustle and make people take reports seriously. I know that where there's a mention of reward, that's like avenue for alts to arise, but you get what I'm saying.

@xLays has really done well in making sure that the forum remains clean and sane. Truly, he deserves to be rewarded for his selfless efforts, but don't you think that rewarding users like xLays will give rise to abuse? If people realise that they will be rewarded for reporting posts, they will abuse it and give the moderators more workload. If anyone must be rewarded, then it should be done unexpectedly in such a way that it will not attract attention.

Thank you, OP, for your effort and dedication to submit reports. Every good report make the forum a tiny bit better and nicer.

I have almost double of OP's number of good report, but it didn't really occur to me to "brag" about it. Your wish if good reports could be merited is a bit sad and strange, too, as you clearly didn't spend enough thinking about the abuse potential. Enough others here already mentioned that this is in fact a terrible idea.

I understand you very much and I also understood the Op.
Helping the moderators to keep the forum clean isn't something we should be rewarded for, but in the other hand I have learnt the principle of rewarding the good as against punishing the bad.
What I mean is that, if there is a punishment for spammers (ban), there should be a reward for non spammers. Well, we could argue that not being banned is a reward enough.

Anyways, LoyceV got the hit point. Having a sense forum is greater reward.

I thought I am the only person stocked... My journey to Hero member is taking so long and I don't know when it will happen. But I checked the date your account was created and it's been so long. Even if you didn't rank up so rapidly, you'll surely get there. Atleast your username is popular and you got reputation.

I understand what you mean now, for almost 10 years you have been a Hero Member that is very much related to the Merit you earned, that's why you suggest giving Merit for reports like you did in OP.

And it seems to be rejected by the Staff here

While I don't agree with the merit per report suggestion, I'll give you a couple as a one off as there's currently no better way to show the appreciation of the contribution, but also because I always enjoy seeing other users achievements especially reporting related!

The community benefits, and you give us mods something to do! So we appreciate anyone who reports.

Actually it's easy for OP, Besides not being able to make constructive posts, you should be able to make informative posts, and you should know what an informative post looks like. Try it while looking for references, how they got it.

I didn't report it at all, I was just demonstrating my dry sense humor.  I find it strange that it got moved, it seems to fit better in Meta since it's regarding a forum feature and a suggestion.

Good number of reports!!! the forum benefits, you benefit from posting it and everyone benefits, so entitlement should set in because basically you are doing what exactly needed to be done just seem like a specialty because only a few people does it and because of its level of accuracy then you deserve all the merit given our of free will but not that you are entitled to any merits or rewards.

However, the more we normalise reporting the better it becomes for us all.
