I’d recommend writing your seed phrase on paper and having multiple backups. You could also opt for engraving your seed phrase steel or using washers. There are threads on the forum that shows you how to do that. Do not store your seed phrase on your mobile phone or online.

If that guy who stole your phone has some crypto knowledge, then possibly the guy would try to look for a crypto wallet and seed from the phone, but the chance is low since not all snatchers are smart and have knowledge about crypto.

That's why a phone isn't a good place to save a backup seed phrase because you are always bringing this phone anywhere.
I am more confident to write them down on the metal plate and hide it somewhere safe in my house. You can also buy a cryptosteel and then hide it anywhere in your house; at least this metal is fire- and waterproof, and it is good for long-term holdings and far from online attacks compared to saving your seed on a PC or on the phone.

It's actually a good idea that you have written your seed on a paper/jotter as offline backups are far more superior simply because online attacks are far more common. But you made a mistake of not making multiple backups. Always make sure to do this so you have other backups in case you lose the other.

Simply memorizing the seed would be a bad idea as humans can forget a lot of things especially as we age older. Not to mention, there are some conditions that could affect our memories, and we'd never know if we're unlucky enough.

Why would you store your seed in a jotter and then you go about carrying  it with you everywhere that's  not proper. Instead, it should be written and secretly  stored  in a specific  hidden location  in your house. You can have multiple backups and still keep them  in a separate location incase one got damaged or misplaced.
You should try multiple methods  to store your seed but make sure everything  is cold, do not get it involve with anything that connects  to internet.

Nothing is actually 100% safe but true memorizing your seed phrase is the safest way to store your seed phrase as no physical copy is required but it doesn't mean it doesn't have it's own flaws. Memorizing it only takes away the risk of losing your seed phrase to hackers or being lost but is risky in case of a person has Amnesia or some other brain problem that's why it's not recommended for people with certain medical issues. When the brain is affected they might have troubles remembering them that's why it's necessary to make a backup either by writing down on paper or on a metal sheet and saving them properly away from others. Saving it on your phone or online like on Email is a very terrible idea.

I think the most important thing is not where you store your seed but that you also use an extra custom word because if someone finds your seed they still can't do anything with your wallet. If I lose my seed I would get really paranoid of my coins vanishing in the middle of a random night

Most safe way is to never keep your keys in digital form. Writing it down in your jotter wasn't a bad idea as far it's private to you but not having a backup was where the problem was. This menomics needs duplicates because no single place of storage is 100% safe, there could be issues of water disasters, fire outbreak, theft, misplacement and even relocation issues. If there was a backup storage there would have been no need of creating a new wallet.

Hey man sorry about losing your jotter that sucks but yeah storing on phone is a bad move cause if it gets stolen or hacked you're toast especially if they guess your passcode

Better to go old school write it on paper or better yet etch it on metal like those cryptosteel things they're fireproof and tough hide one at home and another in a safe deposit box or with a trusted family member far away

That way even if something happens to one spot you got backup and no online risk at all

Also throw in a passphrase that's like an extra word you memorize makes the seed useless without it super secure for long term hodl

Storing your seed-phrase on your phone is unsafe not only because you might lose your phone and someone else might discover your seed-phrase on it, but also because there's a risk of data leakage from your phone (phones have internet access and OS vulnerabilities).

It's acceptable to have a crypto wallet on your phone with a pre-generated seed-phrase for use with small amounts of money, but the seed-phrase should be stored outside of the phone, i.e., offline.

Most people wouldn't be so careless with a funded wallet.You have many ways to store your recovery keys. The easiest and safest method is to write them on a piece of paper and keep it somewhere hidden but in a spot you know well. Writing them in a notepad or jotter is risky because you might leave it lying around, which exposes your keys to others.

As for storing the keys on your mobile phone, that is the highest level of risk. Your phone constantly collects and processes information you aren't even aware of. Storing your keys on your phone exposes them to wallet drainers, hacks, and malware. Do not do this.

I carved my seed phrases on a steel that comes with my hardware wallet years back, and I store the steel in a safe with key locker, although I live alone with my partner and my baby, we don't allow friends or strangers into our home for no reason but this is just a precaution and a necessary thing to do, you don't want to leave your seed phrase on the table where it is easily visible.

I don’t think anyone who has proper knowledge about cryptocurrency will ever advise you to store your seed phrase on your phone. Your phone can get lost,you will simply lose your seed phrase. And if you decide to save it in your email, you are exposing your seed phrase online, which is very dangerous.So the best way to save your seed phrase is to look for steel that is waterproof and fire resistant, and engrave your seed phrase on it. Make sure you create about three different steel backups so you can store them in different locations. They also need to be hidden where nobody can see them except you and anyone you choose to tell only like your trusted and close person in case if you're more alive.

The reason I advise storing them in different places is because we never know what might happen. In case you forget where you stored one, you may still remember the others. As you written down  seed phrase in a jotter assuming  written down in three jotters and hidden it in different places, there is a good chance you would still have access to your wallet because you would  find at least one copy.

To be clear, when i said the seed phrase should be memorized, i also meant that it should be written down somewhere and kept on paper, because people are naturally prone to forgetting  but we can also remember a lot of things. So in my opinion, memorizing and writing it down is the only good way to store it. Because again, if you keep that paper like an important document, the chances of losing it are very small.

Seed phrases are not something to carry around, so never keep the seed phrase on your mobile. You should not even keep or enter the seed phrase on any device that is connected to the internet, as you may be attacked by fraudsters or hackers.
