I want to know; who is a gambler and what are the characteristics of a gambler?

Reason being that, in this section we often tends to be seeing several posts about people calling themselves gamblers, but truth be told, if you play slot today and didn't play again tomorrow or next or even till a month interval would that person be called a gambler?

I'm curious, why do you need a clear definition of a gambler? Do you see any academic interest in this? In my opinion, definitions and terms are usually formulated to draw certain intellectual conclusions... Which, in turn, have practical applications. For example, they are made to get rich, make more profit, or increase the likelihood of winning at gambling. 🙋

In my opinion, the simplest definition is: a gambler is a person who gambles. When a person gambles, they are a gambler. When they sleep and dream about winning $1,000,000 at roulette, they are not a gambler at that moment. When people are swimming in a pool or drinking coffee in a coffee shop, they are also not gamblers at that moment.🙅

Of course, if a person is obsessed with gambling, constantly thinking about it, playing out various game scenarios in their head, then they can be called a Gambler with a capital "G."  The writer Fyodor Dostoevsky made such a person the protagonist of his novel of the same name. Basically, in my own personal definition, this is a person who is willing to waste money in a gambling establishment, where they accept whatever might happen to them while they are playing gambling games inside an online casino here in the crypto space gambling business industry.

They are the people who might also just rely on luck, thinking that it could happen that they grow their small amount of money through their gambling in the casinos
here in the crypto gambling space.

That is what a gambler is. They want to entertain themselves with a distraction by putting their money on the line. This gives them a rush of dopamine and adrenaline which is more than enough to make them look away from the things that are happening in their lives at the moment.

To be a gambler is actually to be unable to stop betting, even when it becomes detrimental to your mental,emotional, and your financial life. You just find yourself unable to stop because of an addiction to the dopamine, the sense of reward and the thrill of taking huge risks.

Even when they promise themselves to stop or take a break, it's never strong enough to keep them away from betting and risking things that are very important to them. Being a gambler is a very bad place to be, because you can clearly see the damage it's doing to your life, but you can't stop gambling.

In my opinion, there's no single, perfect definition of a gambler. There are many vague and fuzzy definitions. The simplest definition is that a gambler is someone who plays games of chance on a more or less regular basis. Although what constitutes a regular basis is also a question that everyone answers differently. For some, it's once a day, for others, it's once a week or month, and for others, playing once a year or even once in a lifetime is enough to be considered a gambler.

A gambler is anyone that place bets, stake some funds and undergo some level of risks, encounter loses and want to recover them, the fact that you do something in return of something makes you a gambler. From my own perspective and understanding, I will consider a gambler to a person who takes risks by betting on specific things or events, such as sports, games or any other activities, or someone who participates in casino or online betting platforms in order to win money or something valuable, often with the hopes that may be unrealistic.

Gambling shouldn’t always be associated with taking risks. When we talk about risk, we are talking about the possibility of something unwanted or harmful happening, and this shouldn’t always be the case in gambling, except of course you’re gambling solely for profit, because that’s the only time that you just wanna win so badly and losses seem like a big deal. A true gambler expects the losses, so it’s no longer unwanted because you’ve already accepted the fact that losses are inevitable and part of the game, neither is it harmful because regardless of the outcome of the game, you still end up having fun.

Seeing what you said, it reminded me of a friend who has been gambling for quite a long time, maybe almost 10 years, and more often online because offline casinos are not freely accessible in our city. I don’t think you have to play games everyday before you can be called a professional gambler because there is no any requirement that states that you have to bet or play games regularly before you can be referred to as a gambler.

Once you can be able to stake your money on a certain prediction(s) you are a gambler because you have staked your money on something you are not sure of but hoping to win some money that will be more than what you staked depending on your multiplier or odds. So you don’t have to play regularly to be called a gambler.
