One way to know if you are getting overly addicted to gambling is when you start spending lots of hours and money, if you are the type thatonly gambles for a few minutes but later on starts gambling for hours that is a sign that you are addicted to gambling...people who gamble for fun don't spend the most part of their day gambling because they would be too busy doing more important things
Some gamblers start to gamble only few minutes but as time goes on they begin to gamble excessively and also take long while they are gambling. Another way to know that you are becoming addicted to gamble is when you are spending too much money on gamble, at very point it is good to gamble with what you can afford to lose. When you know you are spending a lot of money on gambling, you should seek for help immediately so that you will know how to start gambling responsibly.
What kind of help will advice a person in the situation you talked about above seek it not for the person to simply draw him or herself back just like we turn off our phone when ever we notice it's heating up due to heavy usage, we turn the phone off so it automatically closes all apps running in the background and heating up the phone, after which about a minute or two, the phone is turned back on to start operating normal again.

When a gambler realizes he or she is spending too much, not only money but time as well on gambling, and possibly losing money as well, best thing to do is to take some steps back, reset the mind and get back to your normal self again.

While losing out on 30% of your income to gambling is a bit much, I wouldn't say it's a sure sign of a gambling addiction. It's nice and all that you're looking out for a friend, but like you noted yourself, he isn't affected by gambling.
At first or second times that he lose that, it's still fine. But I think that the more it comes and it becomes often, that gives a validity and sign that he's starting to show early signs of addiction.

While there are gamblers that keeps disagreeing with people who sees the signs against them that they're about to get addicted.

They are not accepting it and tells that they're still fine even if the signs are there and they're losing more money than the usual they do when they're not yet addicted.

A friend of mine was in an argument with me about when someone should consider himself as an addict, I said if anyone is losing 30 percent or more of his monthly income on gambling, that he is an addict but my friend said no.

He is not affected by gambling but I do not like the way he is losing money on gambling but he said he is not using more than 50% of his monthly salary to gamble and my mouth was wide opened when I heard it.

Yes, there some set of individuals that does that, using 70 to 80 percent of thier income to gamble without any fear,  you know when you are not into gambling or not betting at all, you will feel someone's pains of losses and the person that loses his money will only feel it at that moment, however for one to become addicted to gambling, it has to do with frequently betting and risk taking, there's someone I onow today that uses even a community contributions money that's not belong to him for betting, thinking that he will win big and at the end he couldn't recover the money he used betting.

I've been thinking about this for a long time and still do, because I saw a movie about two men working at a bank or a post office, and on the weekend they secretly took all the cash from the cash register because it wasn't audited. They took the money to the casino, bet everything on red at roulette, and won. Then they put it all back in the register and quit. Of course, that's all in the movies, but in reality, I often hear the opposite story, for example, about a post office worker who took money from the register and lost everything, and of course, she was arrested after that. I sincerely feel sorry for gamblers who take huge risks, not even considering that the worst-case scenario could be that they'll end up broke. This is something you should think about first and foremost, and not ruin your life.

If the people who gamble for house and spends so much on gambling are seen as addicts what about the people who spends few minutes but gambles with an amount that even a person who gambles for a week will not spend will you also regard them as addicts or they are high stakers?  I think an addicted gambler knows himself and how he feels if he doesn't gamble in a day the real addicted gamblers can not stay without gambling so the people who spend time in the casino may not be gambling but those who spend all day gambling with everything they have are the real addicted gamblers.

Judging yourself or others as a gambling addict isn't based on the percentage of your monthly income you lose or the number of times you gamble. In my opinion, what really defines an addict is how gambling affects your life. If gambling has affected your life financially, mentally, and socially, then you can be considered an addict. There are many visible signs of gambling addiction, including difficulty stopping gambling, feeling anxious or stressed when unable to gamble, and even lying to your partner, family, or friends about your gambling activities. If it persists for longer, the effects will be noticeable, and the most dangerous is the disruption to your life, including your finances, family, and even your time.

Every addicted gambler knows when they are addicted to gambling. I may not really know the exact amount that can be considered as one being addicted to gambling, but when you are gambling with more money than you can afford to lose or a reasonable amount from your allowances, and if you blame yourself for gambling after a game, it means gambling is controlling you. You can't even make your own decision to gamble without leading to regret afterward. If you can have the mindset to gamble with money that is not supposed to be used for gambling, then it means one is addicted to gambling.

You consider yourself an addict when you can no longer control your gambling habits by neglecting all your other responsibilities even your families and job which supplies you the money you use in gambling and losing focus of your life.

Your friend can never see himself as an addict, because he feels his doing the right thing which he his not, spending 50% of his monthly income has already made him an addict since he will still keep on spending and chasing his losses and wins because what he his after is how he can make more money from gambling.

If you are gambling always without minimum risk and give space of betting you are already addicted to gambling and that will make you lose alot of money and you can be regretting when you are at of funds all. That is why even if you bet and you see he didn't favour, you should give space and bet another time but many people chase there losese and that is one of things that will make you addicted to gambling when chasing losing. I have friend that stake games always and he as become addicted he told me that anytime he didn't bet that means is not feeling better but he most stake even when he loses back to back and he will always tell me that no risk no reward he will be gambling thing he recover all is losing in bet and that will be very difficult to achieve.

I don’t even know the percentage of your monthly income which you are suppose to use and gamble, or the percentage which if you lose, that means you are already addicted to gambling. I know there are some things which if you can start doing them, then you already addicted to gambling. If you are a gambler, and you no longer care about your family members, all you care is just gambling, then you already addicted.

As a gambler if you sell your properties just to gamble, if you take a loan just to gamble, if you steal just because you want to gamble and other crazy things, then you already addicted to gambling.

Gambling is suppose to be for fun, but when you start looking for means to make money from gambling, then you are already making mistake.

Your friend is a lifelong addict but he refuses to admit it. Since he spends more than 30% of his monthly income on gambling, he is a serious addict. However, if someone is addicted to gambling more than 2/3 days a week and if he does not consider his family or himself, but only considers gambling and spends his time busy, then he must have become an addicted gambler. Or it could be that someone may do any activity to manage their gambling money or may borrow money from friends or take out high-interest bank loans to manage their money. This would indicate that they are a compulsive gambler.

A simple limit to know that you have experienced a gambling addiction is when you start regretting the amount of money you have wagered. Of course, everyone has a different gambling budget, so the limit for being considered addicted also differs.
Daily life starts to be disrupted because gambling has become the main priority, consuming both money and time. In short, when a gambler has exceeded the limit they set for themselves, they can already be considered a gambling addict.

The losses and time we have lost through gambling can be a start in the evaluation of whether we have crossed the line. When gambling starts playing with our daily duty and starts interfering with the significant roles in our life then we should think. Addiction to gambling is not only financially related but it also involves the way it affects our way of life. Some of the ways of avoiding this are balance and budget management.

When a gambler realizes he or she is spending too much, not only money but time as well on gambling, and possibly losing money as well, best thing to do is to take some steps back, reset the mind and get back to your normal self again.
Correct and good point. And if the person refuse to take break at this point, he is automatically an gambling addict. To detect gambling addict is not hard. If I am gambling excessively and refused to take break when I am losing much. I should not gamble above the amount set for the day the matter what. Some gamblers would have set an amount in the day but because of greedy, they would gamble above the speculated amount. That is the addiction level of gambling.

No gambler will accept being called a gambling addict, even though they have spent more money gambling and are refraining from spending on necessities. It is crucial for anyone who gambles to be able to manage their gambling activities to avoid financial problems. If they continue gambling and also accrue large debts, they will certainly face many problems. However, by properly managing their gambling activities, they can certainly prevent them from becoming addicted to gambling.

Spending 30 or even 50% of the earnings can be considered as reckless, but when the person realizes that he is spending more money than he should and he tries stopping it but he just can't break his habit that is why we can consider him as an addict.
Yeah, there is a difference between being reckless in spending and being an addict. A reckless spender can still be spending that money on other things even if they are not gambling with it. Gambling addicts are on another level when it comes to spending; they don't even know that they are doing something bad to some extent unless when they are being told.

Yeah, there is a difference between being reckless in spending and being an addict. A reckless spender can still be spending that money on other things even if they are not gambling with it. Gambling addicts are on another level when it comes to spending; they don't even know that they are doing something bad to some extent unless when they are being told.
No where is it okay to be reckless with money, it's worse than addiction to be addicted with reckless spending. Instant all-in, players suffer this problem and it's among the saddest story to experience, read or listen to as a gambler. What more how miserable life would look for the victim, when readers and listeners feel the direct emotional meltdown that mingles with such stories.

I never also said it's okay to be reckless in spending, but rather I was also making the point clear that a reckless spender might also not be a gambling addict. It's very much possible, but there is also a possibility of the person being an addict.

In fact, no type of bad financial behaviour should even be considered to be better than the other one. Anything that's bad is bad, and I get that. Being reckless in spending, the person should seek help and get a solution to his problem before things get out of hand.

You should consider yourself an addict, the moment you cannot do without gambling. If you haven't gamble in  the day you wouldn't be satisfied. However, if you start gambling for profit, you can also be considered an addict because it must lead to addiction since most of the addicted gamblers were playing for profit and continue to chase their losses.
That's the point. Addiction means being unable to break free, and being dependent on it can be an addiction to any activity, including gambling. Anyone can actually check their dependence on gambling, and they can check it by examining their gambling transactions. If someone gambles frequently, or even daily, then it could be an indication of gambling addiction, meaning the intensity is high enough to lead to dependence if it becomes a habit. Essentially, all that needs to be done is limit the time and money spent on gambling to avoid any unwanted risks that may arise. Well, I think I have said this too often, but I feel it is worth repeating as a reminder to everyone, including myself.

The moment we can't control our gambling habit, that's the sign of addiction already. We can say it was just a small amount for now, but we should not lose confidence. We might be surprised that we are spending too much and have exceeded our budget. As much as possible, we have to stay in the usual way of gambling. Because the moment we change our goal, that also changes our gambling behavior. And I think we don't have to wait until then to take action. Instead, take actions that prevent it from happening.
