Sometimes an addicted gambler may not know he's, so there are measures that we must take to ensure that we are not gambling anyhow as we like, once we can maintain these guidelines, then we are a responsible type, but if we can't manage to abide by the guidelines, then we have to admit on the onset of addiction to how we are gambling, it's something we can tackle ourselves or seek for help to curb it, if needs be.
You are right. Most people who are involved in gambling do not want to admit that they are addicted gamblers or they may not realize it. Set aside a specific amount of money each week to test whether you are an addicted gambler. If you can gamble with that amount of money for the entire week, you will know that you are not addicted yet. The guideline is to keep your spending limit and avoid getting excited.

It can be easier for gamblers to deal with the onset of addiction if you are aware of it in advance. But the interesting thing is that the entertainment aspect of gambling makes most addicted gamblers lose excess funds before they can correct themselves. To prevent addiction, you need to keep your income in balance, control your emotions, and refrain from gambling excessively, whether you win or lose. The most important thing is to be responsible for your family.

Someone does not need to hit rock bottom to be an addict, when gambling causes stress arguments or secrecy that is already a warning sign, amounts vary but behavior is more important than numbers.

Gambling may initially start for entertainment purposes, but it can gradually turn into an addiction. Gambling is conducted with the expectation of more than entertainment while gambling, and gambling beyond one's means, and betting repeatedly to recover lost money, and not taking time after losing or winning a bet, and gambling with the necessary money instead of gambling with the money we can afford to lose, and when we understand everything and cannot stop gambling, it means that we have no control over ourselves. When a gambler adopts these actions while gambling, he has truly transformed into a gambling addiction, we must always be aware while gambling that the risk of losing money increases by gambling with excessive greed.

The moment you begin to allow gambling predict how you run the affairs of your personal life, how you manage time with your family and loved ones, limit your productivity level and encroach on your savings then you should be self aware that you’re becoming if not already addicted to gambling. Just as you have said, hitting rock bottom doesn’t necessarily make you an addict. It is how you allow it influence your basic activities that defines whether you’re an addict or not.

Addiction usually becomes visible when gambling starts replacing responsibility. Spending an entire salary without thinking about rent food or bills shows that control is already slipping. At that stage gambling is no longer entertainment but a coping mechanism driven by desperation. Borrowing money should be about survival yet addiction twists that logic. The thought of winning it back becomes louder than basic needs.

That is how the cycle tightens slowly but relentlessly. Borrowing from friends turns into loans from banks and microfinance institutions. Each loss increases pressure and pushes the gambler to chase harder. The second gamble after a loss is often the first real warning sign. It shows refusal to accept reality. Some people recognize the danger early and step back. Others convince themselves that one more attempt will fix everything. That belief fuels deeper damage financially and mentally. Gambling to solve financial problems always makes them worse. Awareness only matters if it leads to action. Stopping early saves far more than trying to recover later.
Yes, I agree with what you said. When gambling goes beyond the limits, it's no longer just for entertainment, but for the pursuit of winning or profit. The desire to recoup losses is one of the factors that drives gamblers to engage in irrational or unconscionable behavior. Yes, as you said, it's stronger than basic needs.
I think those who recognize the dangers and quickly take action are fortunate. Many others are aware of the situation but continue to indulge in these thoughts.

Addiction is not really about one big loss or rock bottom like people think. It is more about when gambling slowly starts taking control of your decisions, your time, your relationships, even your peace of mind.. Once it begins to dictate how you live daily, that is when it becomes dangerous.
Being self aware enough to notice those signs early is really the good, because at that point you can still pull back before it does real damage. A lot of people miss that part and only wake up when things are already messed up..

A friend of mine was in an argument with me about when someone should consider himself as an addict, I said if anyone is losing 30 percent or more of his monthly income on gambling, that he is an addict but my friend said no.

He is not affected by gambling but I do not like the way he is losing money on gambling but he said he is not using more than 50% of his monthly salary to gamble and my mouth was wide opened when I heard it.

Basically, a person addicted to gambling is called a person who cannot stop when he loses, because a responsible gambler stops when he loses. But if the person you know continues to play even after losing 30 percent of his gambling and continues to have heart, then greed has definitely entered him. And the one who has a heart and continues to play even after losing, he has definitely become addicted, which does not give a good direction for him at all. Moreover, we see a person addicted only when he loses his own control and cannot stop, but continues to gamble. However, if he can control himself after losing his money, then he may not have sunk into gambling too much.
