Back to this fight: whoever wins will take it seriously; there is money and prestige in fighting Manny.

Easy money, I’d say. Fighters are more willing to face him now since he’s not as dangerous as he was in his prime, but the payday is already guaranteed anyway. That said, they still won’t get a bigger share than Manny Pacquiao, since he’s clearly the main attraction in any fight he’s in. I honestly miss seeing Manny fight after the Mario Barrios bout. I think he still has something left to offer, and he deserves another chance, especially after that fight where some people felt he got robbed.

Right, our very own Manny will always be the A-side in any fight, unless it's Floyd Mayweather.

To fight Manny is a honor to any generational fighter of today, just imagine when you're still making your name in boxing, Manny is already beating bigger guys. And if so if you are given a chance to fight him, then for sure you will not think twice as it also includes a massive pay check.

I guess every boxer just wanted to face Pacquiao during his prime like Teo and others and then think that they can beat him. Pacquaio is very different and a generational talent and we won't see that kind of boxers that move up in division and winning 8.

So yeah, I think everyone will agree that Shakur's statement is just a promotional way to hype this fight, as it seems that it is very quiet and no one is talking about it, even though the fight is just weeks from now.
That's because they think age will affect a boxer. Pacquiao is already 47 years old, this is the age where boxers are past their primes and just relegated to being trainers, managers, or promoters if they are still involved in boxing, but never as a boxer. Pacquiao is just an exception, and many boxers have taken him for granted, so they target Pacquiao to add prestige to their name.
Back to this fight: whoever wins will take it seriously; there is money and prestige in fighting Manny.

Are you implying that the winner of this fight on super lightweight will go to welterweight and challenge Pacman if Pacman is the winner against Barrios? That will be a good fight, however, I speculate that if King Ry is the winner against Rolly Romero, King Ry might be given the first priority.

Pacman and King Ry are on welterweight already and if they win their fights and fight each other, this will be a unification of WBA and WBC championships.

Yes, the fight is finally made official and i think this is one of the fights that most of us here are waiting to happen while they are still in the peak of their careers. Shakur Stevenson will go up to the super lightweight to challenge the hard-hitting Teo Lopez. These two fighters are known to be counter-punchers with Shakur Stevenson labeled as a boring one but against Teo Lopez i think this will be an exciting fight to watch.

Your thought guys?

https://boxingnewsonline.net/news/shawn-porter-predicts-stevenson-vs-lopez/
This is a fascinating clash of styles because Shakur’s elite defense and timing will really test Teofimo’s power and explosiveness. If Teo can cut the ring and force exchanges, it could be the fight that finally drags Shakur out of his boring label. Either way, this feels like a true prime vs prime matchup where one clean adjustment could decide everything.

That’s something I’d really like to see, but it’s hard to expect Teofimo Lopez to punish Shakur Stevenson just with aggression, especially since Shakur is that good defensively. Still, I’m hoping this won’t turn into Shakur completely dictating the fight, because we already know how that usually goes.

If that happens, it won’t really be worth the money for fans watching in the arena or online, since those kinds of fights are effective, sure, but not really entertaining.

I kinda agree with you Shakur’s defense is so sharp that pure aggression alone probably won’t be enough for Teo to break through. The real concern is whether Teo can add smart pressure and angles to prevent Shakur from fully controlling the pace and distance. If not, it could turn into another technically brilliant but fan dividing performance, which isn’t ideal for a fight of this magnitude.

I’d honestly be surprised if he comes in with a solid game plan against Shakur Stevenson, because I don’t really see Teofimo Lopez as a smart, tactical boxer.
He’s already had a few losses in his career, unlike Shakur who’s still undefeated.

A good strategy is a must for Teo here, because if his original plan doesn’t work, I don’t see him adjusting well during the fight. If that happens, it could turn into an easy night for Shakur, just dancing around, controlling the pace, and scoring points.

Pacman and King Ry are on welterweight already and if they win their fights and fight each other, this will be a unification of WBA and WBC championships.

That will be a good storyline if both Pacman and King Ry will fight in the future.  Again, if my memory serves me right, it seems that Ryan is really obsessed on fighting Manny. He even took to Twitter before and says that him and Pacquiao will fight. But obviously, it's during that time that maybe Ryan is having a mental issue or something to tell in public that him and Manny are going to fight.

Fight is getting closer, for sure most of us here are very excited. And the final press conference for sure will be lit as both are trash talker so there will be a lot of it as they wanted to bring the psychological war in the table. So let's see who's going to break  first.

Teofimo Lopez’s only loss came against George Kambosos, and if you revisit that fight, you’ll notice he was consistently getting caught on the way in and struggled to make adjustments. That’s why I believe if their “Plan A” fails, there’s really no “Plan B” to fall back on. I don’t see Teo continuing to charge forward recklessly, because he risks suffering the same fate as Oscar Valdez. It will be interesting to see how this plays out for him. As for Shakur, he will always fight true to his style—disciplined and defensive. I don’t expect him to slug it out with Teo, and if he chooses to engage cautiously, the fight could turn out to be a rather dull affair.

Especially if they can beat Manny Pacquiao, that’s something they can always add to their record and be proud of when they retire and get older. Yordenis Ugas is a good example, he’s the one who retired Manny, and I’m sure that win means a lot to him. That said, his career now feels like it’s already on the sunset, with back-to-back losses against Errol Spence Jr. and Mario Barrios. At this point, I don’t really see him coming back as a champion again, so retirement might be the realistic move for him.

~snip~

If I can remember the fight well, Oscar was badly trying to go inside and throw short hooks especially to the body. It was generally an easy fight for Shakur because he was more agile and he could stop the attempts with jabs and straights. Teofimo, on the other hand, could trade blows without necessarily closing the distance. Valdez was going for the brawl which Teofimo doesn't have to do.

If it's Teofimo who would make the big adjustments in this fight, this would be far more boring than already expected. Also, it would be to his disadvantage because adjustments made for a specific opponent could hardly be maintained all throughout the fight if it's very much against your natural tendencies.

It will certainly be a very good storyline for both of these boxers. This is quite certainly why I am wishing this hehehehe. Also, I predict that after this superfight if this will occur, it will be Pacman's final retirement fight.

After this, there will be not anymore any comeback that will come from him. I very much wish it will be a good fight where the ending will be a split decision.

I saw a interesting video saying that Teo Lopez hasn't lost to a south paw. He previously fought an elite fighter in Josh Taylor and Lomachenko. And even the likes of Sandor Martin and switch hitting Jermaine Ortiz.

But I think Shakur is not like those kind of boxers, Shakur's play on defense and he will block your shots and then throw some of his own. Sort of the like of Floyd Mayweather kind of defense and then offense.

Teo cannot just be like all the boxers Shakur fought and beat; he needs to do something different to win. He needs to bring the fight to Shakur and throw him off his game plan.

But one of Teo's negative traits is that he sometimes loses control. This is a different game plan for both fighters, and the fighters who can execute it precisely will win the match. It's a game plan against gameplan.

I agree with that, he doesn’t really come off as a smart boxer to me. It feels like he’s always trying to prove that no matter what style his opponent has, he can match it and beat them at their own game. Just look at his fight against George Kambosos Jr., instead of fighting smart, he chose to go toe to toe, which is exactly what his opponent wanted.

In the end he got overpowered and lost. If he played it smarter, he could’ve used his speed and movement since his opponent is pretty one-dimensional, but ego took over and the right game plan was never really used.

Against Lomachenko, he came out as the aggressor in the early rounds, piling up points that ultimately led to his controversial victory. However, he never truly dominated the crafty southpaw. Facing Shakur, he will have his hands full trying to break down Shakur’s defense—a task far easier said than done, given Shakur’s intelligence and technical skill.

However, on the odds being offered by the sportsbooks, do you reckon that they are not underestimating Teo Lopez or are they underestimating him? Teo also has much experience against other boxers with high rankings. It will not be shocking if we witness a victory for him.

Loma is not 100% healthy during that fight, it was reported that he had a shoulder injury that's why it's was very unusual for Loma to fight like that with Teo until later news reveal that he is suffering and not healthy.

Not taking anything from Teo, but it could be a different result if Loma can move and fight without bothered by that shoulder injury. As what we have said, they are only good as in their last fight so regardless of how many southpaw that Teo beat, Shakur is not the same as any other boxers.

Have you seen the last press conference? It's wild. Shakur stands up and wants to hit Teofimo for saying he will bet that he will put his D___k in his mouth or something like that. Wow, Teofimo gets on Shakur's head that, on their face-off, Shakur is so angry at Teofimo that he says nasty things to Him.
Wow, this is getting too personal for the two boxers so expect a wild fight. I have never seen Shakur so provoked in any fight. Even if he denies that this fight is personal, based on how he reacts, it looks personal now.

That’s good at least, we saw some action in this press event because the actual fight could easily turn out boring too.
Still, I hope Teo really prepared well for this one, slowing down Shakur looks like a very tough task.

So this should be happening tomorrow or maybe the day after, sorry if I’m off a bit since I’m in a different timezone, it’s already the 31st here in our country tomorrow.  Smiley

What's with Teo? He's going down to a low level trying to provoke Shakur. I've never seen this low level of interaction. Teofimo is trying to imply something.
I know Teofimo loves trash-talking, but you don't have to stoop to this level to provoke his opponent. I think Shakur will mess with Teofimo and show him who the real man is.
Can't wait to see this fight. I hope these two fighters will live up to our expectations.

I believe Teo Lopez is playing mind games, trying to make Shakur lose focus ahead of the fight. But Shakur is a disciplined fighter who knows exactly what to do inside the ring, so I don’t see that happening. Lopez’s trash talk is cheap and below the belt—it can rattle someone who isn’t used to it, but Shakur won’t be shaken. Lopez knows he has his hands full on fight night, so this trash talk feels more like a diversionary tactic than anything else.

The fight is officially on, as both fighters made weight—Lopez coming in at 139.6 lbs and Shakur at 138.6 lbs.
