junk shop owners actually rich despite their job being related to literally trash.
This sentence is funny because even if your job is related to anything deemed as disgusting doesn't change the fact that there are always opportunity.
A septic pumping company owner usually are rich yet their job is related to human feces and so does plumbing company while their job is related to wastes.
It depends on how you scale your business.

Junk business is a lucrative venture that most of us underate because it is not a neat business and the operators like it that way so that many people will not come into it and increase competition. All of us are happy to get rid of our junks and get paid for it because we can as well throw them away without getting a penny as payment, they are no use to us. Junk sellers sells them to industries that recycles the wastes and they becomes products in the market that we are happy to pay far more to buy. These junk shops now have vendors that enters rural areas to buy junks from residents and resale them to the junk shops, the city is clean and a win win for buyers and sellers of the junks.

what does this teach us? learn how to see value in everything and learn how to make it into your advantage. don’t just follow the trends of other people because those who fail to see value end up as losers,
I’ve actually seen this firsthand. Scrap buyers in my area make decent money because they understand weight, demand, and timing. It’s not glamorous, but it’s consistent. Same thing in crypto cycles: boring, undervalued stuff often outperforms hype. Seeing value early is a skill built over time, not luck

It's usual to notice a restaurant here, coffee shop there closing shop. Where I'm living right now, computer shops, bars, and other memorable spots have turned into something else, but the junk shop nearby where kids, who are all adults now, used to sell their metal and copper scraps is still there.
Most times, the business that do really well are the ones that are most despised because of the way people look at it and sometimes because it's not a presentable one from the outside. Apart from junk shops, if you do a general search on how businesses grow and which of the business is most likely to fail in the long run, you will discover that generally, bigger and well Sophisticated businesses are even more prone to getting bankrupt than smaller ones that are useful to the neighbourhood.

In addition, it's not just because the business is a junk business that it's able to stand the test of time, if you don't know how to manage such business real well and don't have good customer relations, the business will grow but will at the same time not stand the test of time.

If I recall, most of them sell the scraps at a really good price and most of them deals with metals that are expensive at market value but cheaper on the second market and those junk shops buy at the lowest possible rate from people that collect those stuff all around. It really is a good business because I have heard of stories of people scoring some trace amounts of gold, silver, and platinum in junk shops so I would say that it definitely is a profitable one but the chances are really slim on that one. Scrapyards are a good one too, you get paid so other people can throw their junk and garbage in your land and you can salvage whatever valuables are left in those garbage. The only problem that I see with this business idea is that you need to have a really commendable size of land because small junk shops do not thrive for long and it is not ideal if you want to make it big in this kind of business and you probably need a lot of vehicles to transport stuff when you have sifted and sorted everything there is left.

Although it required a commandable size or mobility of the material is an issue but for me junk shops are basically a small scale business. We cannot deny their  role in the economy. They collect  the unwanted or waste material or send them for the recycling, or turn them into  valuable again. Junk shops make second hand things available for those who cannot afford new things. So they approach this market.
Like other markets junk shops also face high competition not only from the junk shops but also from online selling platforms so this competition force them to work efficiently or improve their services and offer  friendly price. By the involvement of the government it can play it's role for the growth efficiently.

When there is an opportunity that others fail to see, we should take it no matter how small it seems. Even something considered trash can be valuable to a manufacturing company. People often underestimate such things simply because they don’t understand their true value  and not everyone has the ability to recognize that value. This also teaches us the importance of protecting our planet. Using recycled or second-hand materials does not mean they are inferior instead, it helps manufacturers obtain reusable resources and reduces waste. In the end, recycling benefits everyone people, industries and the environment.

This is true.

Here in my country, it's interesting to note that you can seldom see junk shops going bankrupt. Just this year, I went back to one of my childhood's neighborhoods. I left decades ago. The place has changed a lot. You know what remained? The popular junk shop.

It's usual to notice a restaurant here, coffee shop there closing shop. Where I'm living right now, computer shops, bars, and other memorable spots have turned into something else, but the junk shop nearby where kids, who are all adults now, used to sell their metal and copper scraps is still there.

Well, does that only means that the person is making a lot of money from the business and that's why his business is still up and running? Well, maybe he is, but this could also mean that he is very good at business management, which means that maybe he is not making a lot of money from the trash business, but he is at least making enough money for himself and his family, so he kept the business alive by managing things properly, and all other shops and places that closed down weren't able to keep up and run their businesses efficiently.

When running a business, the most important thing is to know the demands of your customers, and deliver accordingly, this could be for both regular and new customers, which means that your business should be able to adapt new trends and demands that enter the market, so that you can get new customers because of that. If you keep your business old, outdated, and boring, it won't last very long, because customers always love new things and updates or upgrades, and they will only keep coming back if they get their demands fulfilled.

In my place of residence, the second-hand goods shop has been around for more than a century and the shop has now been inherited by his son and until now it is still running normally, we rarely see if the second-hand goods shop suffers losses or goes bankrupt because they only spend relatively very small capital to buy second-hand goods from the community, sometimes they can even get goods without having to spend any money if there are some people who donate them for free to them so that the second-hand goods shop can get big profits with very small capital, especially since they have no business competitors so that the second-hand goods shop can survive for a very long time.

This is true, those junk sites hardly relocate unless the government want to do major developments across where they operate. They would always stay in business because people kinda like the idea that what they always trash can be sold for little money. That little renumeration is what keeps the junk shops booming and constantly in business.

Don't be surprised Darker45, even those adults you knew when they were kids are still in the business (As long as they still live in that area) and have sections of their house where they keep tin cans from drinks and other steel trashes until they are plenty before taking them to junk shops. In my private office space, a neighbor who I regarded a big boy visited my shop and made away with those tin cans in my trash, urging me to always keep it for him that he invites a worker of a nearby junk shop and sell it to him.

This is the Economy board, right? Not the values board (if there was one  Tongue)

Kidding aside, I do see this right. A lot of the junk shops I know deal in metal scrap. It's not so much that they are affected by the digital transformation around everyone, but they may made it even better. The commodity prices for this should add more value to it, and the impact on the recyclability of materials is well appreciated worldwide.

It's the sustainable development at its finest.

I'll go further. If someone can see business opportunities, they'll build one even from what's lying around. For example, waste recycling. There's a huge surplus of this resource. I've considered this idea many times, but the entry barrier is quite high. It would require significant investment, and I don't have that kind of money. I don't want to take out a bank loan, as there's a risk that something could go wrong.

I guess every business requires a significant amount of money, that is the risk that we need to take. There are successful entreprenuer who borrowed money from banks or to their father and started their business at their garage and then later become big.

So we can't really tell it unless we crossed that bridge and see how it goes. Just like in junk shop, we need capital but once you find your groove, who knows, this garbage that people thinks could be someone's wealth.

People flock to the trendy business because they see how profitable it is.
But they don't look at the opportunity that the boring businesses generate more profit than what they can earn with employment.
If these people that are in the junk yards and other waste management projects or businesses, they're not going to stay there if it is not profitable.
Since it is, they're having fun making more money in it and it's just a way to help nature for them.

I never knew that it is called junk shops because in my country we call it second-hand item shops. It is a multi-million-dollar industry in my country. Some people who deal in these junk items make lots of money since it is assumed that they sell quality at a cheaper rate. Low-quality Chinese products have flooded our local market, so that these fairly used items from Europe and the US are cherished.

There is treasure in what some people call trash. Those areas or businesses that people avoid are an opportunity for those who dare to make money. Sewage disposal is avoided by many people. While businessmen who don't care about the stigma are making money.

The biggest thing is that they are making money by selling garbage and keeping the environment free from pollution. The garbage they are selling is coming to the market as reusable, which is a recycling process. Resources in the world are limited, so every resource must be used appropriately, and at the same time, appropriate measures must be taken to reuse the resources that are found to be reusable in the recycling process. I appreciate those who sell garbage. They are never poor. They are rich in mind as well as money because they are not only selling garbage, but they are also keeping the environment free from pollution.

junk shop owners actually rich despite their job being related to literally trash. sellers sell fast because they want to get rid of their trash. junk shops sell in bulk to manufacturers and construction companies. they track metal prices and sell accordingly

Junkshops are stable and profitable business because scraps are everywhere. If you are in an urban city that produces a lot of waste, you will never be out of business, and there's a continuous supply of scraps.

what does this teach us? learn how to see value in everything and learn how to make it into your advantage. don’t just follow the trends of other people because those who fail to see value end up as losers,
That's what honest businessmen do: they look for something that is not there and make a significant demand out of it. If you are the one who originated the idea or the business, you gain the trust and patronage of the buyers, and this will lead to establishing a profitable business.

We get so many valuables as a business from Junk shop, Like metal scraps which would cost a fortune if you just wanted a small piece.
Makes it accessible and profitable If you're into manufacturing industry. It's truly, One man's trash is another man's treasure. Non perishable goods are a win-win because they can last for a couple years and still be so useful.

It's high time we understand that it's not just about the container but the content that's in it and so we don't need to judge a book by its cover. Most of this junk shops you see today has birthed millions and reached out to alot but the fact that they decided to remain low while counting treasures doesn't make it seems like it ain't valued and important. Alot can be yield from such junks shop so there's no point to see the value of something less.

This isn't really new to me. I'm aware that a lot of junk shop owners are really making enough (if not a lot) of money with other people's trash. Since households usually don't find any value with their old stuff, they can just sell it at a low price to junk shops instead of just throwing it away cause at least they make even some amount of money with it. While junk shop owners, makes more money when they sell the materials they bought to bigger manufacturers who recycles the materials they collected.

That's why personally, I never really look down on those who have these as their business cause business is business after all. They still make money with fewer capital.
