Holidays aren't made for saving, they are not time to hoard every penny, holidays are meant for families to spend quality time together, it is an opportunity for families to come together, create great and beautiful memories, and treat one another to small pleasures that brings them joy and happiness. This opportunity makes their bound more stronger and their love will continue to grow. It's really important to spend a little money on your loved ones so they can be happy. But that doesn't mean that you should splurge extravagantly, carelessly, or lavishly. It's wise and advisable to avoid reckless or extravagant spending, you don't have to deprive yourself or your loved ones. By allocating a reasonable amount of money, you can plan a simple outings, even if it is a trip to local park, visiting a zoo, a stroll along the beach, a visit to a museum, or even a shopping spree at a favourite store. These experiences mean more than just buying them expensive gifts, because they help to reinforce the sense of togetherness.

We can not spend without calculation because that risks our savings. Buying gifts is necessary but we should care for our future and not risk it with other things. Actually, everyone has different plans during the holidays and it depends on everyone's financial situation. I have seen many people who work during the holidays because they will get more money if they work during the holidays. Now saving money is important, but I think we should spend time with family during the holidays and spend some money on our family, but as someone mentioned above, we should spend money wisely. However, I don't spend much money during the holidays, I try to arrange some good food for the family and sometimes I like to travel.

Bro first I was serious, then I laughed haha like spending money to cook good food! I mean I can't sleep until I get a good food but maybe you mean something out of the ordinary like eating outside in some good place where they serve nice someplace your family loves to eat, but you can't afford it all the time.

Also meaningful gift is a good choice and if you are a family man you definitely have to think about that too but I am not a family man but I know this is better than just saving money, if you ask why I will say because family first, if you can be closer to them, at holidays while can't be closer to them on weekdays due to work then what's the point in earning money on weekdays if you are still saving money on weekends haha.

Christmas and New Year's are holidays that only happen once a year. Therefore, of course, no matter how busy or difficult our work is, we should still make time and spend it with our family and loved ones. But honestly, it would be a bad idea to spend all our hard-earned savings on this vacation. Instead, we should spend wisely on holidays, enough to enjoy ourselves without affecting our long-term financial goals.

Holidays are a time for us to rest and relax after a year of hard work, don't let it become a financial burden afterward.

Honestly, I'm confused by the OP's question.

Perhaps by vacation, you mean days off. Yes, vacations, and especially holidays at certain times of the year, like Christmas, New Year's, and other holidays, are things we should plan or budget for so we can celebrate them by saving in advance. Delicious food and gifts are very important, in my opinion, and I think they should be prioritized because these are special moments that should be celebrated happily with our beloved family. So, I think making our beloved family happy on special days is a must, and we should prepare for them in advance by saving so that everything runs smoothly and they are happy.

I would say both, if you earn enough money then you should save 50% of it and spend 50% on your family to make them happy. Making your family happy is your responsibility and you can't neglect that. Look at this this way... Your family and your love ones are not eternal, eventually death will separate all of you from one another and all which will be left are memories. If you have money and you can afford to spend it, then use that money in order to create meaningful memories with your family and friends.

It is something which my family has pointed out to me in the past, money does not matter if you cannot use it to create memories, the kind of heartwarming memories which last for the rest of your life. I am not tell you to recklessly spend all your money and not to care about tomorrow, just be reasonable. And keep in mind, sometimes the most expensive gift is not the best one.

It's a season of enjoyment with family and friends, it's not a season of saving money but that doesn't mean you would spend anyhow because sometimes many people normally find things difficult after this period due to excess spending. However, this is a time that people travel to their verious places to meat their love ones that they have missed for a very long time so it's a normal thing to buy a gift for them because it's a period of having fun. At least let's make our younger ones happy with what we can afford since is something that doesn't happen all the time, I don't care how much I spend.

If we still use holidays as a means of deprivation then indeed don't take a vacation because in the end it will be the same as a normal day.
It's good to keep thinking about savings because it can be useful for your short or long term life but there are some moments when we should also try to enjoy life and I think the holidays are the perfect time for that.

I'm not saying that I want to teach extravagance here but there should be a self-reward to ourselves as an achievement of what we earn.
At least once a month or if you really want to be bigger half a year or even a year we have to feel what we have collected and I think as long as it is not too burdensome then just do it unless we just want a monotonous life by letting your money be saved but on the one hand you are stressed because you can't get out of the pressure.

If everyone start thinking in your was, then probably 'later' won't happen ever.

Well yeah for me entertainment is not the most important thing in this life, hence I don't give priority for entertainment during holiday. I don't like to spend a lot free time just for doing unproductive activity, I do like to going out or eating in restaurants, but I will do it after I finish my work, so I would spend 2-3 hours, not that much compared to cooking special things in free day, I might have to spend a whole day.

Well, you will not able to make a career if you're just doing the same thing like your other colleagues, because your employer didn't see you giving extra fir the company. Family is more important, but I only give priority during emergency needs.

I agree. Giving time and priority to our loved ones is a very important thing, because when you don't do that, you are always working and busy with other stuff, and you will notice that you will slowly start getting very far from the relationships you had, and that happens naturally because your loved ones will start feeling like you don't give them any importance anymore, so they stop looking for it after one point, and I know how that feels because I always go through this because of work. It's very difficult to manage work-life balance, extremely difficult, if you ask me, but we have no choice but to do it.

So many people from all around the world face this problem at one point in their lives. When you focus too much on work, your personal life starts getting disturbed, and when you get too involved in your personal life, you start neglecting your work, and then comes an imbalance in your life. So, as I said, it's not very easy to manage, and we have to struggle a lot to have perfect management for both things so that we can keep unnecessary stress out of our lives.
