Why does the forum selectively filter out some links?

I am a bit confused on what criteria the forum uses to remove/filter out some links/domain names

For example, in this post, the OP stated that one of the links was redacted.


1. I could be wrong, but I don't remember stealthex being a bitcoin mixer or a phishing site though it definitely does not have a good reputation when it comes to KYC.
2. Does the forum have a certain blacklist whereby if a person of a newbie rank posts/quotes it, it gets automatically filtered? Like in this case?

I'm not sure of the general criteria for suspected links that are sensored but I'm sure 90% of links newbies will post or likely send through PM will be censored. I believe the admins put this up to avoid phishing and other scams and hacks that newbies on the forum try to pull off a majority of the time.

Similar to when you get a warning if a newbie PMs you. But I know there some links that are generally censored regardless of rank for example things like mixers due to their ban.

As long as an user is still new on his forum, the person should expect any links that he post to be removed or not removed. This happens to all newbies that post links.

The idea is good because newbies should not yet be trusted unlike old users.

This limit has been there since the introduction of the merit system, if I’m correct. Being a newbie limits the accuracy at which the system can detect and filter your link. A link that appears on others’ higher-ranked comments or posts can still be filtered as a dangerous link if posted by a newbie, because the accuracy at which they are being checked is not the same, which applies to posts quoted by newbies which contain links.

But it does affect:
 - Reduced-accuracy link filtering
 - Board restrictions

This doesn't seem to be the case when you look at the gambling board or altcoins boards among other boards. Newbies are posting uncensored links.

I know that newbies should not be trust, but why does it seem random or selective? If a link is suspicious, then all ranks should not be able to post it minus it getting censored. If links from newbies are not to be trusted, then all of them should be censored or contain some warning.

I'm sure so, and it seems it can also be removed from the blacklist if there is a good reason.

Removed. blockchain.com was in the past identified as a phishing site, but I guess that the real company got their hands on it at some point.

Maybe that one is a bit harsh nowadays. I'll remove it. There used to be a spam/scam site with "bitcointalks" in the URL, but I think it's gone now.

That means the link is not blacklisted yet; or based on the effects of rank limitations, the filter accuracy is reduced meaning for certain boards. cmiiw
