You are competing with talkimg - every user you get makes his cost per image more expensive.  If it's just for your own use, why make an announcement? 

This wasn’t built with the intention to compete with other platform.

Initially, I only knew about Imgur and imgbb. I only became aware of talkimg after reading the comments here on Bitcointalk.

The project started as a personal tool driven by curiosity and engineering interest. Once it proved useful for my own needs, I decided to open it to the public and be transparent about it.

I understand that more users mean higher costs. When that becomes an issue, I’m prepared to adjust the platform strategy, for example by introducing ads or sponsored placements to keep ImgPeek sustainable.

So the announcement isn’t about competition. It’s about sharing the tool early, getting feedback, and seeing whether it has value beyond my own use.

New tools are always welcomed in the forum but just to be clear, does imgpeek offer any functionality that talkimg doesn’t?

There are others services like imggur and imgdb as well.

But i believe there is no problem in having alternatives. However,  talkimg works better than any other here

Imgur is a complete horse shit and died years ago. I am surprised it is still even getting mentioned. Just bury that deep in the ground so it won’t come back to life.

Talkimg though, it’s s working quite fine. I use it all the time when i upload images that i use in my posts and had no problems whatsoever.

It is probably a good idea to have an alternative but on the other hand alternatives mean less clicks for talkimg and if talkimg loses visitors, it will he harder continue their operations because of the loss of revenue.

It would be nice if the new tool was welcomed, at least without destroying the developer's spirit. Who knows that way developers might become more motivated and keep improving the tool. It is not easy to make a useful contribution to this forum because it requires a high level of effort.

Instead of the OP just making meaningless posts, it would be better if they were useful for the sustainability of forums like this. I know OP is still in the member ranks, so his credibility in developing something may be questionable, but all the contributors on this forum have been in the same position. Rank shouldn't be the only benchmark by which to assess a person's intentions and efforts.

As long as the tool or idea shared is still relevant, open to criticism and doesn't harm the forum, I think it's worth giving room to grow. Criticism is certainly necessary, but it would be more beneficial if it was accompanied by constructive input rather than immediately bringing it down.

talkimg can be closed anytime by the owner so if there are alternative sites for Bitcoin forum community, it's good. At least with imgpeek, now we have two image uploading and hosting sites for forum user community.

I rather trust joker_josue than a 114 activity user (no offense to OP). Which one do you think has better odds of existing in 10 years?

If my images break and I don't have any backup, they're gone forever across all my posts. I can't try my luck.

Is this yours? Nice to have platform for more options to use other users, but for competition purposes you should do more features than existing ones. But still great tool.

I understand their concern and addressing them directly.

This project exist because image hosting is a practical need on Bitcointalk, and it solve a problem I personally had in another project.

Making it public allows others to use it and provide feedback, which helps me improve ImgPeek over time.

yeah, this is a platform created by me personally. And of course, I will develop this even better in the future .

Because the imgur tragedy made everyone wary and no longer put images in just any place.

But as my local member in Indonesia, I appreciate it for creating a useful tool,
rather than a new or old member who just makes crap posts and doesn't contribute anything.

If OP can take positive feedback from people here, I'm sure he can develop this hosting app and make it an option other than Talkimg,
rather than having to use another hosting app that is clearly uncorrelated with this community.

I completely agree with this sentiment. It’s important to support contributors, especially when they are putting effort into tools that benefit the whole community. Besides, having alternatives is always healthy. When there’s more than one reliable option (like Talkimg and now ImgPeek), it actually improves the service for everyone. It introduces competition, which pushes the developers to keep updating and improving, and it also gives users a necessary backup plan if one service ever goes down. That diversification is key to long-term community health

I think we should encourage this user. The forum always encourage growth and discouraging may not bring growth to him on this his new service. Although, competing with talkimg isn't a good option here but if more features is added it could be an alternative to talkimg for anyone who wishes.

For me, that happened when Tinypic disappeared (years earlier). I don't think I have used imgur by myself, but I've quoted it a lot. The Tinypic disaster made me lose my pictures, and switch to my own hosting. But I'm very aware my images will disappear with me when it comes to that.

The reason Tinypic disappeared may be interesting for OP and others offering image hosting:

For me, that happened when Tinypic disappeared (years earlier). I don't think I have used imgur by myself, but I've quoted it a lot. The Tinypic disaster made me lose my pictures, and switch to my own hosting. But I'm very aware my images will disappear with me when it comes to that.

Tinypic was such a useful platform, I used many times and it was at the time the best option but after it imgur got attention and many members of the forum started using that one, but after that proxy error members of the forum were left with no good image hosting site and that's the time when TalkImg.com was created by joker_josue, and that platform is still the main choice for most members of the forum even till this day. Whenever, I'm about to share an image on this forum, I use TalkImg and it always works like a charm thanks to joker_josue.

It is working perfectly.  However,  it wont work in the forum because bitcointalk is blocking it to preserve users privacy from leaking private data such as ip.

It is a forum limitation and policy, it is not dead lol

Bitcointalk is not blocking imgur for privacy because the forum uses a proxy that prevents ip leak so this is not possible. It's blocking because it was not working for bitcointalk due to imgur limiting requests from bitcointalk servers so many images failed to load.

Here, I'll introduce more online image editing features, beyond image hosting. That's what I offer at imgpeek.

I'm sure it's far from perfect, but I'll be developing more image editing features. The concept is Upload->Edit->Store to Storage->Share.

OP, while I appreciate the work that you put into creating this, wouldn't it be better to focus only on one project? For example, it would be nice if you could help talkimg to develop and implement more image editing features instead of creating a new separate website. Talkimg has a support from the community too and is already an established image hosting platform for this forum.

Joker Josue has an experience of running an image hosting website for years and he plans to run talkimg long-term but anything can happen, however, talkimg backups are created regularly and available to the public for download.

I set this up to be safe, so I set a daily limit. If you've reached the 5 upload daily limit and want to upload up to 100MB (per upload file) again, you can return the next day to have the daily limit reset. (Note: I've increased the 500kb limit to 5mb for more than 5 per daily.)

OP, while I appreciate the work that you put into creating this, wouldn't it be better to focus only on one project? For example, it would be nice if you could help talkimg to develop and implement more image editing features instead of creating a new separate website. Talkimg has a support from the community too and is already an established image hosting platform for this forum.

Unfortunately, that's not possible. My focus is on further developing ImgPeek to add more useful features, especially editing and storage. I also plan to create an SDK for it to expand its reach.

With every feature I create, I will make sure it is useful and I want ImgPeek to be a comfortable place to do all of that.

As many have already said, I also think it's great to have more options besides the most well-known ones. I used to use Imgur quite a bit, but lately it's been having some image errors, so I switched to another service.

I liked the editing options on your site, especially the file conversion option; instead of using another service for this, I can do everything in one place. I'll test it as soon as I need to post an image.

First I will not compare both https://www.talkimg.com/ and https://www.imgpeek.com/ sites because these are purely the work of forum members and I really appreciate them.
I consider it an alternative When one site is not able to upload an image, there are other sites that can still be used.
Because if we do something and then the work is delayed because one thing is very annoying, the right solution is certainly to find other alternatives so that the work can still be done.

As happened with the two sites I mentioned above talkimg may have problems because it cannot upload images, while Imgpeek runs normally. As simple as that, it's an alternative.
