Season's greetings guys it's that time of the year once again. Christmas is just around the corner as well as the beautiful new year ahead and it's high time we celebrate the Christmas love once again just like last year and this year is bigger and better.

With the spirit of Christmas I'll gladly introduce this year's contest ;
Last year was a hit of literally a wide variety of Nigerian dishes but this year we a narrowing it down to  our most Nigerian sets of delicacy;
Which are...THE NIGERIAN SWALLOW 🍛 and THE NIGERIAN PEPPER SOUP 🌶️ 🍲 well we are all familiar with the Nigerian "pepper tribe" lol... I'll leave that to you all. This year features a  0.006BTC prize pool sponsored by Theymos.


💥HOW TO PARTICIPATE💥

It's quite simple, all you have to do is prepare any Nigerian swallow and soup delicacy of your choice and Pepper soup 🌶️ also known as chilly soup ( for non Nigerians). The Nigerian swallow you choose to make will serve as a main dish. Then your pepper soup next.


RULES

• You must be an active member of Naija board.
• You must have at least a member rank to participate in this contest.
• Please don't make use of ALTs.
• AI photos are not allowed.
• You are allowed to submit a minimum One swallow dish.
• Please include your username and date by the side of the dish when taking the photos else your entry may be discarded.
• A minimum of 4 photos of the cooking process is required.
• Only entries should be submitted here pls all discussions should be done in the discussion THREAD.
• A total of 5 winners will be selected.
• Contest ends 16th January 2026.

This kind contest go well. Na here wey we go show our skills, some people wey go Catherine school make dem no how to cook and some of us wey learn am for our kitchen, we go see who be the best cook.

And I hope sey we fit use anything cook, as some people go de use gas cooker, some of us  go use firewood to prepare the pepper soup and swallow.

Well, seeing as how I can barely make cereal in a bowl without somehow screwing things up, there's no way in hell I could even pretend to make a proper Nigerian dish.  Nor could I even fake it with AI since I've never used that accursed technology.  Those being the facts of my case, I think I'll do likewise and point my peepers at some of the tastier-looking specimens that other members post with merit being dished out (so to speak) based on effort.

But boy I'd love to taste some of those hotter-looking things.  There aren't any Nigerian restaurants within probably 100 miles of me, and even then I'd just be guessing, so I've never had what I assume to be the pleasure of trying any of them.

I told the Grinch who lives inside my head to go take a hike this year.  As I don't know when he'll return, I will in the meantime wish you all a merry Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate.  Peace to all of you!

Like every day, come to our local board and check the subject lines of the new posts and try to understand what topics are being posted then share my own opinions. Today as well, I was naturally checking the new post subjects in our community and seeing what kind of new posts had appeared. As soon as I saw a competition-related post subject like this, it caught my eye and I came to see the details of the poster design. As usual, I tried to read all the contents of the competition carefully and checked what kind of rules were given for participation. I was truly very happy because such a beautiful poster design, price pool, well-quality rules have been added to this competition.

Our Nigerian swallow and soup are very popular. Naturally, this is going to be the best competition to showcase the quality of our food and enjoy it beautifully. Really, I will definitely prepare my favorite dishes and participate here. Participating here isn't a big deal, but the main thing is that this is going to be an interesting competition.

Finally, during my free time, I cooked and took part in this contest. I’m not sure how perfect it turned out, but I gave my best effort and completed it. While preparing the food, I gained a different and beautiful kind of experience. Cooking and enjoying delicious food this way has a joy of its own.


The list of ingredients i used in making this delicious food are given below:

• Rui fish (Rohu fish)
• Goat meat (Mutton)
• Potatoes

• Green chilies

Nigerian dishes aren't difficult to prepare, you could watch some YouTube videos and do likewise and get same results, it's as easy as that. And you can probably get the required ingredients from a nearby grocery store with just a few dollars and you're good to go. I would love to see you give it a try and if the results are favorable you could end up opening your own Nigerian restaurant over there lol.

You should try it, its fun. These AI tools sometimes creates decent stuff that could be useful when trying to demonstrate something that needs a visual aid; but sometimes create the weirdest stuff that are funny as well. You gotta work on the description prompt a lot more than I did below though, I just did it for fun (it thinks swallow is the bird)

Please it could have be very nice that we should obey one of the rules that said discussion should be made in other thread  and that is why he created second thread merely for discussion and what should be going on here is the submition of different kinds of dishes only, but I'm I'm very surprising to see many discussions has  already started going on in this particular thread which it is not suppose to take place here, please we should try to abide to rules that govern this contest and believe that the OP will surely do something about this ongoing discussion and put an end to, and if by any chance any members want to discuss or appreciate the good work of the OP let be done in second thread of the Christmas 🎄🎁 and New year contest, "NOT HERE"

It is pretty amazing how our Naija Local board has been standing out and making us proud  lately, however I believe this are some of the  stuff that has attributed greatly to the success of our Naija board over the years and here we come again with another great one.


Furthermore, I want to say a big shout out to the organizers of this great contest @ Mia Chloe and Co I want to say more grace and more resources  in funding this contest, kudos my boss God bless you all, however this is not just a contest to me but also an opportunity for me to step into the kitchen and prepare it myself to see if am still in form.

Then you should go for Chicken Egusi Soup and Pounded Yam, or you can go for Afang Soup and Garri, Fufu or Semovita ( hopefully you don't find using your hands to mold the Garri, Fufu and Swallow awkward ) it's probably the best way to go about it. Using 🍴 tiring asf. The above are my favourite and I do not get a running stomach whenever I have them. You should try them soon.

Maybe Using "The Nigerian Garri and Soup" will be direct and better. And yeah,  non of them dishes above seem like something from Nigeria. Lmfao! All I see is a bird and a bowl of rice and sauce.

Cooking for me, and coming from a home of four siblings with only one female thought me and my brothers a lesson of knowing how to cook especially when she left the house by getting married, i wouldn't say cooking is not stressful but am kind of passionate about it so i had fun cooking for this contest, i am so glad to be one of the participants, merry Xmas fellows and happy new year in advance.Hip hip hip hurray! Below are the list of ingredients i used in making this delicious food.  

1. Catfish
2. Stock fish
3. Cow meat
4. Seant leaf for the pepper soup
5. Uzuza leave for the soup
6, Maggi
7, onions
8, fresh pepper
9, melon
10. Little ofor
11. Smoked crocker fish
12. Salt
13. Palm oil

I made egusi soup mixed with ofor and uzuza leaf and secondly a catfish pepper soup.

Easy.
Place your pot on the fire
Add water and the meat
Then add  Maggi, pepper, pepper soup spices and salt for better taste
Then wait till its properly cooked. Simple and cheap.

i have a question what about invented food? newly invented foods. i saw this chef make a soup with bananas and other african ingredents, the chef is nigerian himself so can emulating and trying to replicate his invented delicacy within the rule.
