There can be a lot of reasons why a person can try to keep their identify secret from family or friends. One reason which we can all understand is the chance of being attacked by anybody whom you trust. On the internet it is easier to keep yourself away from these buggers while in real life if you win some jackpot you will be flooded by a number of beggers in the place where you are playing, it will eventually make you feel unsafe.

This got me wondering, why hide such a good news from his family when he should be celebrating with them? Isn't the general public more dangerous than his family?

I don't think he did that because of his family members alone, he doesn't want to be recorgnised by the public including his family members Because doing that will result to insecurity and you know, there has been many stories of people getting robbed of their wining after known by the public. I believe the winner wished he win this money online where no one would have ever noticed, but since it can not be possible that's why he had to do it that way to still remain anonymous to people around. He really has porpose for what he did.

I will do the same because it will save me from unnecessary attention. When people know you have such money, it can make the winner a target for criminals. There have been reports of people being attacked because they won large sums of money. Family members could be another problem.  Everyone might become a burden to you because they are aware of the big win. Many will come for assistance, and some will request loans that may never be repaid. Only trusted family members will be informed of such a win for security reasons.

Another side for him, maybe privacy is very important so he chooses to wear a face mask when taking the lottery prize that he has won, we never know what the environmental situation is like where he lives, maybe in his neighborhood there are often criminal incidents such as robbery or sometimes murder and usually these criminals will target their crimes against rich people so they will blackmail their victims, to prevent this incident, the man might wear a mask so that no one will recognize him so that his life remains safe even though he has won the lottery prize.

We don't know anything about his relations with his family. He might be in a conflict with his family members. What if his family tries to sue him in order to get a part of his jackpot? Being a lottery winner is a blessing and a curse. Most lottery winners end up ruining their lives.
I don't get the point of wearing a mask. Lottery winners shouldn't be revealed to the public at all. This guy would become a target to scammers and criminals, if he revealed his face in public, but showing up on TV wearing a mask is cringe. In which country did this happen? I think that such cringe situations could happen in Latin American countries.

Not all family members are good person, he must have a reason why he needs to mask himself when he claim the winning so no one will know about it including his family. Although you are right that general public is more dangerous but once your family members know about it then there is also possibility that the news may come to public from the family members intentionally or unintentionally. If I was in his shoes, I think I'll do the same thing especially if it is about huge number of money. As what popular saying says "Money can change people".

He may not want his family to know for some reason that he will definitely ask for the money or he feels his own family is not harmonious so he takes the lottery prize in this costume to not recognize anyone.

If I win the lottery then it will not be hidden from the family, all the family will be invited to a party for this lottery win but do not want to be known by the general public, because if we leave the house and they know this could trigger unwanted things including robbery which is the most feared.

At least in the case of this lottery winner. Honestly, I don't envy him (complete distrust of his family members) if he has to hide from his family members.

The jackpot is a very big temptation for family members, which can turn their whole life upside down, so this lucky guy decided to take insurance to avoid psychological pressure from family members and other relatives who will certainly ask (and demand) financial help from him.

The costume is not a 100% guarantee, because the public can find out your personal information through lottery employees and come to the winner's home to receive a gift.

That is not the first time I see someone hides fact of winning big money and hiding it from family. I dont really understand why people do that. I think it impossible to spend big money and stay unspotted by family or neighbours. Nobody would trust if I say that its not my lambo, a friend of mine gave it to me for every day usage That not my new house These are fake jewellery Those millions on my account must be bank error or bug.

I think it is normal procedure and it is not done to hide from family but mostly because of bad people and criminals. In Italy some years ago I was on a long work trip and saw on Tv that one of the biggest lottery winners were assaulted by thieves and so the next winner was given the green light to even collect it after six months of winning, also before being masked was not allowed and after the incident it was allowed. So I can understand what this person has done in order to not make himself public and keep his identity private which in turn this act also safeguards his family, this is the best approach regarding such matter.

He has the particular reason why attempts to hide his identity while winning the loterry but if his main reason because his family doesn't want to know he won the lottery then i assuming two reason that the first one his family doesn't like to gamble so, if he got caught although he won it probably with big amount most likely he is in big trouble...

Sounds absurd. Even if family doesn't like to gamble, the winning would have overcome that dislikeness I am sure. Remember, people have problem when one loses in gambling and not otherwise.

Many people could do the same, in every family there is always this bad eggs that if you give too much attention to them they will take advantage of you, sometimes boundaries are necessary not because of disrespect but because of inhuman behaviour that can unfold anytime, you don't want to be on that side where they will say they are family, so it has to be settled in door within the family.

I know a family where a brother killed his elder brother because the elder brother is rich and he asked money from the dead brother but he wasn't able to provide and he claimed that the brother is fond of spending lavishly on women, yet he failed to help him, imagine killing someone because of this, it could be a problem the moment your own family knows that you have a lot of money, they will probably start hunting for your neck.

I think he wasnt trying to hide the good news from family but protect it from the consequences that often come with sudden wealth. In many cases, people are not hiding because they dislike their families, but because money can instantly change relationships, expectations and pressure. the general public is usually the bigger risk terms of security, scams and like unwanted attention. even with families, sudden wealth can bring in entitlement especially if boundaries were not clearly established before. I would definitely prefer my collection be private and completely out of public and media sights, i respect him for his decision.

You might not know the kind of family he is talking about, I'm guessing that it might not be his biological family but a family like cult group or others (business). There's a possibility that his biological family could be aware of this but if they are not, then he has a specific reasons for that and we can not actually know what his reason was unless he stated it himself.

I wouldn't do what he did, especially if the goal was to hide it from my family, because family should be the first place we share happiness and a place of refuge.
However, I doubt he did it because he wanted to hide it from his family, but it was actually just a marketing ploy. He might get a percentage of this news, who knows.

The only reason that I know is that such an official announcement can be used as a great advertisement for the casino, we know that big winning is always nice to hear/know so announce it publicly means that it will rise the attention.
I have heard that there are also some lottery platform implement a specific rule for such situation (claiming big wins) where players need to agree when they win then it should be announced publicly.
By the way, if I'm lucky enough to win such a huge jackpot and the betting site ask me to claim it publicly, I will also prefer to hide my identity for security reason.

I think he hid his identity from his family because his family has a strict religious system, he would be embarrassed when his family found out that he had won a lot of money from buying a lottery. I think it's very funny, in the midst of celebrating his victory with a feeling of joy, he hid his identity from outsiders and from his close family. But I think he is a smart man, now that people don't know that he has a lot of money, he can have fun with his money without worrying about others asking. And by wearing a mask, it will protect him from criminal acts. I think he is a very lucky genius man.

Perhaps, if he wants to remain anonymous for his family, he might be able to do so by agreeing with the lottery that his name as the winner will not be disclosed. However, he still will not achieve complete anonymity, because lottery employees will know who won, since he will have to provide his personal details in order to receive the prize. Therefore, this information will not be fully confidential, and there will be people who know exactly who the winner is.

If this person won a very large sum of money, I understand their desire to remain anonymous. Crime rates are very high in many countries these days (unfortunately🤷). If you're a high-ranking official, law enforcement officer, or prominent businessman, you certainly have the ability to protect yourself. You can hire a good bodyguard or even a whole team of well-armed bodyguards.🥷

However, if you're an ordinary person, how can you protect yourself from criminals? If you've never handled large sums of money, a large win can be very stressful. In my opinion, it's crucial to give yourself time to process your wealth. A mask from the movie "Scream," in my opinion, isn't the worst option in this situation!🙋 It provides anonymity and security.

At the same time, I understand the motivation of a player who wants to hide their winnings, including from their family. For example, this player's wife may be very close to him, but also very talkative (as they say, a person with a big mouth).  Some people can't keep their mouths shut. So, perhaps a successful gambler is simply afraid that his wife or eldest daughter will spill the beans to their friends about a big win. Then the whole town will quickly find out about it.
