First paragraph is lame to me, respect for parents has nothing to do with gambling it's not a bad behaviour it's the addiction and over doing it that is bad, so the misconceptions or the concept that has been build around it makes me think that people do not really do things for themselves but to please others, apart from the mere fact that we can't tell the future if not, if gambling would favour me into millionaire in regardless of my parents I wouldn't give a fuck about anybody not even my parents.

However I agree with your second opinion of creating enemies since some people are born enemy of progress so they could put you on a target list for just wining a lottery.

Perhaps it was controversial on how he or she has chosen what kind of mask to used. But in all honestly, it's just how someone wanted to protect his or her identity when claiming those lottery wins.

As we all know that in life, there will be opportunistic persons or free loaders relative that will come after you because you now have so much money to begin with. So it's fair that the person doesn't want his or her identity known to anyone specially the relatives. And again, perhaps what mask the person uses her that caught the attention of the public.

I assume your family is Muslim. Because it is the only religion I can think of which explicitly forbids followers to try to get money through gambling.

Honestly, I don't understand what the reaction of a conservative muslin family would be if they found out some family member managed to win an important amount of money thanks to gambling, money is supposed to be welcomed, as long as it was gotten through legal means. Christian views about gambling and laxer and allows followers to do many of the things which are forbidden for muslins.

This is something new and its actually giving us a great idea. If that's what the winner wants , then so be it, he is just protecting his own peace and privacy. His wanting of not to be known by his family has maybe a deeper reason, or lets just say that's part of his plan. Eventually, he will come to surprise his family, who knows?

What's important here is he was able to hit the jackpot, and his family will also benefit from it later on. He just want to keep his winning a secret for now, maybe that's his plan.

   Just from a crime prevention scenario if you live quite poorly and in a poor neighbourhood then suddenly have alot of money, you will spend all day trying not to get demands to give out money which sounds no fun at all.   Winning money and losing your peace of mind is not a trade worth doing, its an unfortunate reality from what I've read.

That's mostly the case if you chose to publicize your winnings, your relatives will come rushing asking for some decent amount of penny, as if they have their share when you are still struggling to bet.

Let's not forget that winning in lottery is a just a rare, life changing opportunity so we should be wiser in managing the funds, and not just spend for family happenings just because you won such a huge amount. Protect your peace first and foremost.

He might have done this for a specific reason, and I suspect he didn't want his family to know because they probably don't like gambling, so even if he won, he'd still keep it private. That's fine, actually. And yes, other people are more dangerous than his family, but by wearing a mask like that, no one would know who he really is.

I would do the same thing if I won the lottery. I have a family that's against gambling, so hiding my identity is something I would do, even if it was a win that would make my family happy. But if they found out it was the result of gambling, they might take issue.

Lets start from the start, why you think you must share winnings with cousins or relatives that you barely know or seen once in your life? On the other hand, if family member was nice to you, why would not you reward him? Repay his kindness. If you would have won millions, it does not mean you must give presents that are worth millions. Buy them a nice bouquet of flowers and that will be enough. Invite everyone for a dinner in expensive restaurant to celebrate your win and that will be enough imho.

I know a real case where a person managed to build a successful business, and when his relatives found out about it, they started borrowing money from him, which they never paid back. They believed that he was already rich and did not need that money, and that he should help his relatives if he was lucky enough to become wealthy. It would have been better if he hadn't done it, because now we all know about it. And his identity will become even more famous because of this effect, and of course, over time, he will be revealed and de-anonymized. Wasn't there simply an option not to be photographed? After all, if he was photographed like this, the casino wouldn't have followed the rule of sharing with the public who won so much money.

We do not know what kind of relationship he has with his family or with numerous relatives. It is possible that when they find out about his winnings, they will strangle him at night in order to become heirs in the morning. As for his public disclosure of his identity in general, there is again a risk that he will be stabbed right outside the door or forced to hand over his winnings (transfer money to a "secure account").

It is precisely such problems that wealth brings, especially unexpected wealth. An ordinary person who has "wind in his pockets" doesn't give a shit about anonymity - there's nothing to take away, and for a robber, the risk of retaliatory physical damage is not worth a couple of dollars. I find this case quite unique, because the person's method is absurd, but he still keeps it private. So, while unique, it also has a positive side. Considering that everyone is different, it's natural to hide one's identity for the sake of winnings. Can I suggest the first thing to do is move, buying a big car next to a tiny house in a small street doesnt really work out anyway.    Tell who you want to tell because its not a requirement to spend the money on flashy things.

   Alot of people are in debt, worst case imagine this man who won the lottery had half a million in health care debt from a bad injury.   Now he repays that debt, repays his big house debt, student debt easily hundreds of thousands.
   Is he doing anything wrong to make his position in life more secure, he is being totally sensible and its nobody's business hence the personal freedom to stay anonymous is quite fair and to me I would argue essential.
  Look up the history for past lottery winners who had met a bad end, I think alot of money can become a problem and it doesnt always bring happiness I would just go the sensible route and place it in a pension for example then every month after you are rich with no bills left to pay.

There is family, which consists of close relatives, and then there are distant relatives, whom not everyone likes, and they will be very happy about the win and immediately demand help under false pretences. Or, secondly, the winner may live in a troubled region and need anonymity so that he and his family do not suffer from fraudsters and extortionists.

Money reveals people, some families are supportive others become a problem, there are many real stories where lottery winners lost relationships after winning, i understand why someone would want time to process things alone first, personally I would hide from the public for sure and tell family slowly not all at once.
