If there is no risk, I don't think there will be any gain. Could it be that your friend has never invested money before or they are afraid of the nature of the market. Reason why I'm asking is that some people have witness some side of Bitcoin and they judge Bitcoin by what they see. For example, a person that just came to the market since October must have witnessed the market dump since then. If you tell them to invest in Bitcoin, they are going to be scared.

You have to convince some people about what they are ignorant. Some people don't know but they wouldn't bother to learn. Make sure you convince your friend to buy Bitcoin even if it's small, make sure it's a trial and don't risk much, you will see that when he gain some profits he will be too convince that greed is going to make him want to invest more on Bitcoin, this is the only possible way I think you can convince a new person to buy Bitcoin.

I think whoever is too afraid to invest in Bitcoin because of the risk doesn't understand Bitcoin well. If you have an understanding, you will be aware of the risks in Bitcoin, which you don't need to be scared of. You made a point though, there is always risk in making money and of course same time implies on bitcoin also and other cryptocurrencies. But the most interesting part is that we can make proper risk management for our holdings and only receive little of the risk involving in it and that will absolutely help us in the journey.
