yeah man hiring just to look big is a classic mistake new founders make, if you can still handle the load yourself then adding people just adds drama and drain on your capital, idc how successful you think you are if you dont have a solid reason for a new hire you are just burning money, retaining them is all about that economic safety like the hero member said because a dev with a calm mind is way more productive than one looking for a new job every lunch break haha
The idea you put forward is quite reasonable and understandable for business developers and new business founders who are essentially struggling to survive on their own without having to hire new people because their business is still underdeveloped. Even for established businesses, if they don't fundamentally need new employees, then clearly the business owner doesn't need to hire new people to put them into work. I mean of course money is a big part of it, of course you need more money and if you are getting offered more than double or anything then yeah the worker will leave. But I have worked in places where I got paid double of what I am making today, and yet I have been working at the same job for 10 years, you think that's because of money?
I can leave today and find a job that pays double what I am making today, but I am not, why do you think that is? Because if the boss treats the employees like family, and not just fake but actual family, like they care, then why would I leave? I love my job, and no amount of money can change that.

But retaining them is one thing and it could be hard depending on what kind of employer you are. If you take good care of them, they'll stay and will definitely take good care of your business. So, proper wages and benefits will keep them involve in your business and will treat it as theirs. Hiring is easy? Are you sure about that? Hiring is one of the hardest and most challenging part. You will always have a very hard time to hire someone good and if you have good candidates, then you'll have to make a choice between a few candidates, which makes this part even more challenging. By the way, lots of jobs have a very hard time finding just someone to work but that's because these jobs are not usually good jobs (warehouse/delivery/construction) and companies don't want to pay higher than minimum salary. OP, if you want to retain your employees, create a very comfortable working environment for them. So comfortable that they'll be happy to come at work and work for you but not enough comfortable that they get so good salary that they'll be able to easily leave it. Might sound evil but that's what you need for your business's success.

We just have to act in accordance with what the employer should do where we must have responsibility and make this a fair thing where when they give their obligations as a form of their work then surely they must also get their rights according to the contract previously agreed upon.

That's tough, if those people who works for your business need something more aside from having decent salary, it's better to discuss and try to negotiate, as you said that the job is not easy and you need someone like them who knows what they are doing to continue your business, you also need to listen and see if what additional offer that you can provide to keep them and to let them work for you, else, you need to find a new sets of people that you need to train again to continue your business.

Most employees want a leader, not a boss. They want someone who can be a role model, not just someone who orders and waits for results. If you can see them as your colleagues, they will also put in all their hard work for your company. But finding employees with a strong work ethic is very difficult. Most employees only want money and the opportunity to relax if there's no leader watching. Therefore, I think only a few employees can receive the treatment the OP is asking about.
