I think that there are only few countries that are really not taxed with the gambling profits that gamblers make. As per research, Ireland is one of that country and if a casino usually says that you've won a jackpot that's tax-free, no it's not and it's either they'll still pay for that in their behalf and you will be getting the whole chunk because they've paid for it. I’m not sure if this also happens in the Philippines, but as far as I know our government here in the Philippines earns a huge amount from gambling.
Even if gambling winnings here are not directly taxed, the money you win will still be spent on things that are heavily taxed anyway.
In the end, you still pay taxes one way or another. What’s worse is that you don’t really feel or see where those taxes go because corruption is still a big issue.

I am not sure but someone can correct me if am wrong, in Nigeria there's a specific rate of gambling amount you have to win before those 5% tax rate is applied to your win profit, anything less to that specific amount isn't affected by that 5%.

I wanted to point out the lack of compliance from the gambling sites in taking the %5 withholding tax from gambling winnings, despite the it is stated clearly that the casino should deduct that amount unbehalf of the government before paying out the remaining amount in winnings.

My worries is, since fiat casinos failed to take the %5 deduction and government comes with tax evasion suit against the gambling winnings, who will be hold responsible the gambling company that failed to deduct the tax or the gamblers that accept their entire balance in withdrawal without tax deduction?

To answer the thread title, it depends on how much we won, meaning, my government only taxes the winnings if we won more than 10k PHP(Philippine peso), but if it is under that amount, they don't. Anyway, I remember a topic regarding Nigeria taxing winnings, but I am curious, do they do it on all winnings or if it only reaches a certain amount, just like how the Philippines does?

That's just the sad part of us electing a representative or someone to govern us it now seems like we conditioned ourselves to choose a poison and drink from it, taxing is good but when the percentage is huge then it becomes a very big problem, how can a government not support it's people when they lose but tax them so much when they win. it's really not a nice thing, I just imagine removing 20% from my income to pay tax when I make 200 million, I have to pay 20 million on tax, then this is where tax evasion will be valuable.

Only a few countries are exempt from government taxation. When you search online, you will see those countries. But my country is not an exception. They task every gambler whether they win or not.

I can't believing your government adopting tax transaction up to 5% from your winning got at betting, so easily the government earn 5% of your winning amount but if position loss I believe there are not guarantee yet from the government. The government only tax those who make money such as the casino itself and the winners since they can't tax those losers since they don't have money left.
