It isn't unusual for people to spend their Christmas (end of year) bonuses on things like investments or gambling to try and earn extra money with their windfall.  You see the same thing with tax returns.  I tend to lean towards the investment side of things, but there's nothing wrong blowing some cash to have a little fun.

My take is, it totally depend on your financial situation. Like usual some people will have the luxury to gamble their bonus, and some may not.

It will only happen for those who do not estimate their total budget or limits in gambling because if they are aware of the limits, the presence or absence of bonuses they have (not only Christmas bonuses) then they will definitely have limits on the expenses they have but indeed this condition is now very unlikely to happen because we must be aware that some of us still try to do gambling and even spend their money under the pretext of fun but it's just an excuse because they cover the addiction that exists.

The most rudimentary logical action that needs to be undertaken to ensure that there is financial stability in the home is the separation of operating funds and gambling money. Well I don’t know where you live but it seem like it’s in a place filled with gambling activities like the Las Vegas area. People seem to gamble away there extra money knowing that it will not affect them and it’s just an extra I believe that why it has become random is that they somehow during the festive season try to double it if they can spend extremely large during the holidays and also knowing that yes the amount is so small that it can be lost without too much being thought of.

Still, regardless of the location, gambling away all the christmas bonus is an act of irresponsibility. I get it that some people treat their christmas bonus as extra money, but hey, you can buy a lot of it and gift your loved ones, but trying to gamble all of them for the sake of greed and irresponsible gambling, that will only lead to a negative outcome. Gambling is never bad, but if you gamble a valuable amount, gambling will never be good at all. Its supposed to entertain you, not to harm you financially and emotionally.

Christmas bonuses are meant to be spent and in our culture, people do whatever they want with it. And so, it's normal to see people using it for gifts and cash giveaways. But to gamble with everything that they have received? I have nothing against those people that have been doing that. If that's the kind of reward system they have for themselves I will not cut their fun for that. But they should think twice and allocate that bonus properly and maybe spending 10% to 50% would just be fine but if it's the entire thing that they'll spend for gambling, maybe they've got so much money already and were done buying gifts if they share the same Christmas spirit to other people.

Not really a good idea, you have a lot of explaining to do with your wife if you gamble away your bonus, wives expect that money for the holidays, your wife will not let you in without that bonus

A Christmas bonus is a one-time bonus meant to be spent on the holiday. It's foolishness to just throw it away in gambling; you'll have a blue Christmas if you do that.

However, there are really these irresponsible people who often won't miss the chances in gambling than giving it all for their wives to be spend on holidays, that's very absurd to think. Gambling away all those bonuses is never a smart and wise idea, but its a risky decision because once you lose it all, you will never receive that again only when the last month of the year arrives again.

Anyone who's thinking like this should not be gambling, even in regular salary income.

People don't know that January salary is like working for two good months. The way some people blow their salary on this Christmas one will think this is the only last Christmas that is going to be celebrated and there is no another one that is going come again. I didn't bet any game yesterday and even today I didn't bet any game and that gives me peace of mind and as they call it, this is holiday one should give time to their love ones and their families.

I saw how people turnup in the gambling cube at where I watch Manchester United and Newcastle match and the way I see slips on the floor, your are not far from the truth even though I might not know if those gamblers are salary earners or regular hustlers but the way people turn up for gambling match today was alarming and it's not like there was plenty of matches today but people turn up for today's match. The crazy loss of today was that alot of people bet on Newcastle to win, more Christmas bonus to the casino.

And that is true, as it depends on the person involved. If he feels he has so much extra, then, it won't be a problem if he will use it to gamble. After all, he will be the one who will suffer the aftermath of his decision. Because that's the time that you will have extra, so for me, you should use it wisely so you won't have financial problem after the holidays.

That’s already addiction, no question about it. Christmas bonuses are given for your hard work the whole year, and then you just lose it all to gambling. How important is gambling to them really? Damn, some people aren’t thinking straight anymore. Whatever money they get, they end up gambling it because they can’t control themselves.

During the Christmas season alot of people gamble more because they are looking for ways to get quick money to support their family but this is the main reason why a lot of people throw away their earnings or bonuses just because they were thinking about getting mkre money. Gambling away your bonus is a sign of immaturity and overtime you would end up losing more if you keep throwing money away

I don't know about the Christmas bonus but I am sure that many greedy gamblers will always lost more than they can afford over trying to make extra money to add up to their Christmas expenses but they get cut short and demoralized after loosing it all back to the platform.
They are also those of them who had for their Christmas finance in the bank accounts and Wallets but just that thought that they should try if they can play and make some profits has ruined the Christmas for them because even the one they had at hand may had been lost back to the house.

I believe the reason why some would resort to gambling with their Christmas bonus, let alone all of it would be because they feel it’s not really enough and so they wanna multiply it so they can be able to use it to cover more expenses, and while the intention is good, the approach is just totally wrong and birthed by greed and irresponsibility. Every responsible gamblers knows that the chances of losing in gambling are pretty much higher than that of winning and so this helps them eliminate the thoughts of using money meant for something else to gamble with hopes of multiplying it. No matter how small the money is, use it for what it’s originally meant for and use money meant for gambling to gamble, if you win, you use your win to get more things, and if not, then you cut your losses and that’s just how the game works.

I think that if they didn't receive an additional salary, they would have spent their basic salary anyway, if they are already addicted to gambling. So in this case, it all depends on the character of the person, someone will make a gift for his wife, someone will help his parents financially, and someone will lose the money in the casino.

As you said, it is a bonus; they can choose to use it the way they like. Whether they choose to gamble with it or spend it on their family, it is a matter of choice.

I have personally witnessed people around me engaging in this practice. That is why December is often referred to in my community as the "season of gambling." During this time, many receive bonuses and extra pay from their companies, which they frequently use for gambling. While it may seem harmless since they enjoy the moment, I believe regret often follows once the money is lost. We tend to overlook the true value of that money because our jobs provide us with a steady income. However, when the day comes that we are no longer earning, the choices made in the past may weigh heavily with regret.

I don't know if my colleague gamble with their salary or Christmas bonus. But that is their right to spend their bonus on anything they want. If they have a family, playing gambling is not a good thing.

It seems gambling become more popular in your place so workers who receives a full salary extra in full to gamble. They should realize that can make them lose the bonus and bring home nothing.

It needs awareness not to gamble all their bonus so they can keep it. But without that, they will still gamble every time they receive a bonus.

I was back in the days, I won a couple before that, so I'm very high and confident that I can still win as I was like up by $600.00++. So that illusion that I'm not going to lose or the invincibility that we feel when we are in the winning streak. However, before Christmas itself, was like 2 days before the celebration, I still take that risk and go and play and eventually lose everything, so it was really very painful for me. So I have to cancel several gatherings or didn't attend as I was affective not only financially, but emotionally as well as I have that feeling of regret that I shouldn't have gambled away all the money and that I should have stop since I already have won big. But since then, I've learn my lessons not to gamble my Christmas bonus or any money for that matter. Just focus on the holiday so that I can enjoy it with my family and close friends.
