It's just plain luck, being in the right place at the right time. I also sometimes buy lottery tickets with my change at the store, about five tickets a year. I do this when I feel like trying my luck. Most of the time, the tickets turn out to be blank, and I think that 99% of them are blank, but sometimes I want a quick adrenaline rush, even though I'm always sure that I won't win.

The wife didn't make him to win the lottery, I just see a man that was angry with his wife for refusing to get what he bought for her, for him to calm his nerves he went and get a lottery ticket. Why I said the wife didn't make him to win the lottery is because the wife didn't asked him to go buy lottery tickets with the money. We don't have to think that much on it because they'd only answer that it's just pure thought of theirs to get a refund and give the juice back.

We don't know what could happen today or the next day. We can win now or tomorrow, or we could also go the other way and lose everything, then regret or be frustrated about it. The wife didn't make him win. It's just a coincidence that made a good story about them after the husband won the lottery.
A big win should have a story behind it, and I think this is just the right story for them. My wife could tell me today to never gamble again or play the lottery, and if I insisted and suddenly won, should I kick him out of my life because he is bad luck? Ridiculous, indeed.

First, I will agree the the woman is solely responsible for the winning to be honest, because it all started with her rejecting a bottle of juice..

It turns out that it happens in this world, I ignored it before but after reading it turns out it's true even though grok can also be wrong, after searching for it continuously on Google and other media it really happened, his name is Tayeb Souami from New Jersey, USA,, he is a lucky old grandfather.

No, his wife did not made him win a lottery, his wife rejected a juice and he thought of using the refund to purchase a lottery ticket, so he made himself win a lottery because he was lucky. Even if his wife has accepted the juice and he had the desire to buy a lottery ticket, he would have still done that at ease. I think there are many such stories, so I can easily believe it's true, given that there are so many random lottery ticket purchases among lottery participants, even those who didn't initially intend to buy them and then went on to win millions of dollars. When it comes to luck and winnings, you could probably write a book about the most ridiculous, random, and interesting stories about how they bought such tickets. There's no need to even invent anything fantastical, because such stories happen in real life too. There is strange coincidence that do happen once in 1million people. People who win lottery tickets or huge profits from gambling without expecting such kind of result tend to use the money to do something great compared to people that are confident that their bet is going to bring them profit. I would say it's only but a coincidence because he could have decided not to return the $5 juice as that is a little amount of money that could used for random purchases without any significant impact on his finances. Luck just got on his better side and controlled his every action right from the rejection to what propelled him to buy a lottery ticket.

His wife has an impact on this though but I think every final decision was his and not his wife, the wife was only a force that started the story but he was the finisher, because he would have randomly used that money for something else or maybe give out to some random person, but he bought the lottery with it.  Ordinarily it seems quite impossible because he won't have expected that the rejected juice would have brought him his greatest win.. things like this are often rare to see.. his wife would be some what happy now and they both would say to them self, what if she had drank the juice? The guy is just lucky, regardless of whether he refunds the juice or not, $5 is a small amount, and the person can easily afford the ticket.  Who know, the person is actually on his way to buy the lottery ticket but just stop at the store to refund the item before buying the ticket.

You may want to argue that what if he had spent the refund on something else rather than buy the lottery ticket, but fact is, he bought the lottery ticket and it's because he returned the $5 juice which his wife disapproved, if his wife accepted the juice, there would have been no lottery ticket to win.

You're really thinking too deeply into this, it's pretty much a non-story that the journalist needed to put a spin on and simply ran away with one little snippet. You could look at every single lottery winner and find some quirky little thing that they did in the run up to buying a ticket and blow it out of proportion. If his wife didn't get him to return the juice, he would not have won, it's that simple. The reason why she got him to return it? Completely redundant and irrelevant, you're going layers deep on something that really isn't that complicated. Life is just a series of coincidences for everyone, some seem larger than others. I just wish him good luck with it and he'll be happy to continue listening to his wife forever from now on.
