Honestly I’m surprised people learn about crypto on twitter, wow what an error although they’re ignorant about bitcoin knowledge reason why they chase after influencers. Well op learnt a good lesson because twitter will not offer any useful advise rather influencers are just paid to advertise any coin majorly for entertainment purpose, funny enough the more views the more wider audience so it’s safe to say people who follow such influencers are the ones spreading false information across the globe. They’re other good places to learn about bitcoin as op mentioned the bitcoin forum is a better example also other crypto related forum, if anyone intends to learn using a social media app obviously they’re wasting their time.

The best place where influencers can get the best of you is Twitter, over 90% of all the crypto content on Twitter are bad for beginners, they are full of misleading information, so don't go and do something stupid and start blaming Twitter for it, users on that platform are looking for users to turn into Exit Liquidity. They will end up telling you to join their YouTube channel where they will fill your head with more nonsense.

Not a single advice worked out, do your own research and don't stop learning, this forum was more than enough but I choose to listen to influencers I have learned my lesson.

Well your mistakes was to swallow every information you saw of X. Hadn't you've done proper research to you see that most advice or post on X is just to farm engagement, likes and followers. Most the account owners don't have knowledge about Bitcoin. Beginners always fall victim to these alot because they feel they get knowledge from it . Only learn from trusted source, like this  forum, as a beginner you can learn alot of things here.

The people posting every story on X aren't actually aiming for beginners to read it, but for everyone to read it, so every reader must make an informed decision about whether to believe it. Those posting all the news on X aren't telling everyone to believe them, although they would be happy if someone believed it without further filtering. So I don't think there's anything wrong with that, as each individual can still make a final decision after reading something on any medium other than X.

X/Twitter is never a place which I do look for any genuine informations. Whenever am just board and I want to whine away time, then I visit X just to read people’s post, and crazy comments people do make, but when am so serious to get information about crypto or bitcoin, then X is not always a place that I visit. If you see a news on X and you choose to believe the news, then you are doing that at your own risk. Not that their are not real news or real informations on X, but the fake ones are just much, and if you are not careful you going to be miss guided.

Doing your own research doesn't mean following what a random person is saying but actually verifying that information.
One source of information can go wrong and so you should always cross-check that information across multiple sources.
When you cross verify the information you need to make sure that the information is genuine or not.

It doesn't make sense to make conclusions on what you don't know before based only from one source because you won't know if the information is correct or misleading. Before you can take an information to be correct you need to verify from other sources before conclusion, it is likewise important to know reputable sources which shares authentic information. There are lots of fake news and misleading information on social media, influencers that wants to increase their views will come up with catchy phrases to get traffic, we shouldn't be in a hurry to believe everything that we hear online. Doing your own research requires one to choose a good platform where misleading information is corrected by other knowledgeable users.Just like twitter,there are lot of misleading information but they’re no moderators to clear off those misleading information,that’s the reason why I prefer bitcointalk to as the best platform where a newbie could do their own research.I also recommend Reddit,that platform is also trying to give quality content on bitcoin and the crypto community at large.So I would advise a newbie to start their research on bitcointalk before considering going further on their research on other platforms so that they’d be able to detect misleading information.

And if it happens that you following someone as a mentor who isn't in the right track with your vision, you probably be going astray by all means. In reality, any platform or social media platform can become a haven for misleading information, fake news, scams, and other misinformation. Because, anyone can register an account and spread misinformation, intentionally or unintentionally. Therefore, it is important to double-check and research multiple trusted sources, and preferably not just one. I often advise beginners to cultivate a sense of skepticism so they won't be easily swayed, or believe the information they receive. In my opinion, the best place to conduct research is in a space that provides a dedicated discussion space, so people can ultimately reach conclusions about what is being discussed.

That's what I was about to say, any advice can be harmful, despite being in q cryptocurrency forum, it depends on the person sharing the information. I was never a fan of Twitter/X, but I believe it's about the people you're following, and the same rules apply to any kind of platform.On top of that, the cryptocurrency sector isn't as simple as a basic maths problem, predictions or opinions can be misleading, there are no "direct" answers. Do your own research, listen and read with a grain of salt to what others say and evaluate.
