I don't think I am the type of being that likes tracking records of the things I have spent. I would prefer to map out a said amount to that, every month. If the money I map out for the month is spent, I know that's the amount I have spent for the month. I won't try to exceed that amount until next month, when I will think of bringing the same amount. That's what I will be doing each time of the month. I feel it's good that way. No stress of writing what and what you have spent on every passing day

Having a clear monthly spending plan is essential, but I think that alone isn't enough.

Without tracking daily expenses, you don't really know where your money is going. The consequence is that this will leave you unable to control your spending behavior, you won't know when to limit spending and when to spend. You are not the only victims of over spending due to not having a proper plan on the way we spend our money. People are making mistakes every day, buying what they don't even need at all but because the money is there, they don't know how to plan their expenses so that they don't go broke.

This is a new year and I will not fail to make proper plans so that I don't make mistakes this new year we are in. Budgeting is indeed a good, interesting and undeniable thing to do, with intelligence or smartness. That will show the level of discipline that a person have, and at the same time show how responsible one is. Accurate budgeting can  sometimes kills the challenges and difficulties that lead to financial problems. Spending lavishly is not a good or accurate option, rather it is an aggressive way of chasing financial problems. because it shows how insecure a person is, ignoring the effects, challenges or the emergency that can arise in the future.

In my opinion it is good to keep track of expenses but sometimes getting stuck in the account book increases mental stress. It is not right to say that all expenses are wasteful, some expenses give us relief and increase our work energy. Depending on the person but I do like to track my expenses to determine on what area I spend more to evaluate and improve my spending to become more efficient.

Sometimes I do over spend on personal materials like games related stuff and collectible toys that just stuck on my gaming room.

Your expenditure falls under budgeting as every penny you have should be channeled to an appropriate budgeting plan, this expenditure should be in line with your income a specifications should be made on items yourself and your household should be needing on as monthly or weekly basis, this is also not forgetting that you also need to save some part of your income.

As most countries make provision for their fiscal expenditure every year, that is how every individual should also plan their life, so you don't go about spending indiscriminately and going out of your budget limit.

We all deserve to be happy in life. One thing I’ve learned that really helps improve your financial situation is to stop focusing too much on expenses and instead focus on how to increase your income. You have to think of ways to grow it, otherwise you just stay stuck living paycheck to paycheck.

I agree with what you said because everyone aspires to achieve a good financial status. To be successful, many people do start with small

You will not be able to reconcile your accounts at the end of the week unless you establish control over yourself. How to balance your expenses with your income will not be solved by just writing them down. You need to plan for reducing expenses. Plan how to implement the balance of expenses with the amount you earn.

From the beginning of the new financial year, you can engage in acquiring skills to increase your income source. In my opinion, acquiring job oriented education and skills is much more important than writing down expenses. You will often lose and get into debt by competing with inflation. Consider skills as an important way to increase your income source. You must be successful in the future.

That's such a strange way to look at your finances - keeping honest with yourself is nothing to be ashamed about and is key to self improvement. That applies to all areas in life and having an accurate budget so you can help plan for your future is a really positive thing to do. We all make silly mistakes throughout life but if we want to improve then identifying them, so you can stop repeated mistakes is so powerful. Good is a good first step, recording finances both inflows and outflows is the door for us to find out how the circulation of money is in us, the more disciplined recording we will see in outline what habits make us lose more money, we are always unaware of small but frequent expenses and if accumulated in 1 month will be a large value, financial records will also motivate ourselves to be able to have a much greater income every month, always feel insufficient with existing income and we will try to find additional income.

I don't think we need to write down the expenses because if we are spending on jus the needful things then we don't have to write it down because we know already that we are doing everything as we are not buying new car, new girl haha, new iPhone etc. So the point is unless we are not spending on our wishes we don't have to write but when we are spending on our wishes we must write them down and at the end of the year we must calculate how much we have wasted.

I when look at my expenses I spent in BTC so far I regret that why did I do that, even if I was not spending on the things I wish to buy but on the things was needy and day to day expenses, the regret will be huge when btc will hit $200k and who knows how big it can be at $1 million haha but I am a chill dude, I focus on the future too.

The price fluctuations that make many people doubt, from the first time it was the same, bitcoin was like a rler coaster a familiar term to say bitcoin like that, most of them only saw from social media and also heard from people at a glance, not from people they knew for a long time, or were still learning it could be, so it is very natural that many people doubt bitcoin especially when the market is experiencing a decline in prices, it will make people who doubt even more hesitant to enter bitcoin again.

Keeping track of expenses is good advice, but when I saw the title of the thread, I thought I was going to read about setting financial goals and a little bit about how to achieve them.

There is no shame in keeping track of your expenses, but it's a good way to keep track of how much you are spending on each thing, and at the end of the month, when you look at that list, you can evaluate the expenses and then see if you can reduce your expenses for the next month, because if there are expenses that you know you can reduce or remove from the list, you shouldn't spend money on those things in the next month by making a list of those things, and remembering to remove them from your budget.

Your financial goal for the year should be to do proper budgeting and then save money if you haven't been able to do that in 2025, and the way I mentioned above can be very useful for that, because if you are tracking your expenses, and then reducing your expenses by making a proper budget list from the necessities and removing things that you don't need for now, and postpone buying things that could be bough at a later time. This way, you can save some money.

Keeping track of expenses is good advice, but when I saw the title of the thread, I thought I was going to read about setting financial goals and a little bit about how to achieve them. 

In paper it looks like a good advice, but I'm not sure if people can consistently do this for a long time. I mean for some of us this could be a very complicated process to start with as we are not used to logging everything specially our expenses.

I guess it could be effective, but it's not for everyone as we might not have the mental discipline as each individual is very different in terms of their personality and doesn't want to make their lives complicated by jotting everything down just to save money, just saying.
