I have prioritized to stay gambling free compared to what I used to do in this previous and also many years ago which I played every single day, thoughts that made me play were to hit it big and change my life for the good yet until now I have only changed my life for the worse. I even started getting mad lately to my wife, daughter, mother and anyone else in my family which is what made me change priorities, I asked their forgiveness and promised them won't ever yell again because of my wrongdoings. This is a good reminder because I know most gamblers would want to keep chasing that same goal they set last year or even increase their expectations, but this is the worst mistake a gambler would make this year, because it is not going to work as plan and if care is not taken it might be worst than last year if we don't realize what gambling is all about and just stick to the main reason why it's been adopted. I don’t see how having a positive mind towards something is a wrong approach. I know there will be many people around here who is going to need it, not myself though, as my new year resolution about gambling does not have anything to do with scoring big and getting financial freedom out of pure luck. We do need to separate the profits in gambling even though we are aware that we can also get profits from gambling, we can consider it as a bonus after having fun, making profits as the goal will eventually become a heavy burden on the mind because the demands of gambling must be financially profitable and that is wrong logic that can mislead us into excessive gambling, everyone cannot lose or lose money that cannot be lost, I agree with OP this year we must change our minds about gambling, it is the starting point to be able to gamble happily.
