Although some people are found of making unrealistic new year resolutions but I don't actually see anything wrong with the resolution. The resolution is just like a blueprint of what you're looking up to achieve in a year and as we progress, you can make amendments to your list either removing or adding some. I see nothing wrong doing this at the beginning of the year because it really shows you have plans for the year. It's not necessary you achieve everything in your list but it'll at least be your guide and give you directions. Of course, you can not make resolutions without working towards achieving it, it becomes empty wishes unless you work to achieve it.

Am I the only one who doesn't make any resolutions for a new year? I have never done it, because as you said, there is no point in making fake promises to yourself that you can't fulfill, so what I do instead is simply make a goal in my and work towards that, and even though I might assign a timeframe to it, I wouldn't specifically say or think that I will do it within this timeframe, but I will do my best to complete it within the timeframe that I had in mind.

I know that people make new year resolutions to motivate themselves to do those things, but they don't remember it for long, because if you are someone who takes such things seriously, you will obviously keep doing this throughout the year and should have been doing it forever, but if you only make goals or promises after one year ends then it simply means that you don't chase any goals or works towards any of them within the year.

People need to normalise making resolutions and goals every time, and shouldn't wait for the year to end so that they can have more resolutions to complete.

It depends. Some people do not see it necessary anymore because they still fail it in the long run. But if they really want to, they will always find ways to make it happen despite of some financial challenges in life. Self-discipline is essential, if you fail on that, you will most likely fail also with whatever new year resolutions set on your mind.

Personally, I do have every new year, and motivate myself that this year will be better than the previous year. But I makes sure that my goal is reachable so that I won't end up wasting my time and energy trying to achieve the highly impossible one.

No.  You are not the only one at all.    No matter how much you might think that "New Year" is the only time to be excited, it usually leads to a "burnout" because the excitement is based solely on a "date" and not actually on any discipline that people might have established before then.  A better way to achieve goals is by working on them as they come, without placing some kind of artificial stress to meet an arbitrary timeframe.  You have a much greater chance of long-term success if you maintain the same consistency throughout the year than if you are only "motivated" for the first couple of weeks of January!

Ah, I feel it is necessary ooo, because me I do that always, and literally every year for some years now..  it just makes you more focused and give you new fuel and drive for the years..

I don’t see it as fake promises to yourself... It depends on the individual though, everybody has what works for them, but I feel people should give it a try, it has a way of working and making the journey more easier…

Resolutions are made at the beginning of the year, in reality, most of those resolutions to have no value. I think such resolutions are just a waste of time for many. If our financial situation is not good, then it is never possible to implement any plan we make. We are aware of our financial situation, so we know very well what we can do and what is difficult to do. To improve our finances, we have to work. Through work, our financial capacity will increase, after which if any plan is made or promise is made, it will be possible to implement it. Any promise is very easy to say verbally, but much more difficult to implement.

Towards the end of the year to the eve of a new year people make all sorts of resolutions to become better financially and have improved lifestyles.

People have the misconception that a new year is a fresh start, so they make resolutions. Unfortunately, these resolutions are unreachable or immaterial. I have a friend whose resolution is to win the lottery jackpot. Can you imagine that?
Resolutions are kids' stuff, but for mature people like us, we should be mature enough to improve ourselves once we see that we are not doing well enough. You don't need a new year; that's procrastination. You are not really serious about improving yourself.

Not really a "breakthrough" thing that is required. Some financial responsibility is good and you should do that but that is about it, nothing more. I get that it may not be that great on most cases but we should be focusing on how to get a better result.

Think about it this way, you do not need to suddenly change it all and have a rich year, but you can definitely promise yourself something like "I will order food from outside less and cook at home more", that's a small thing and will do fine on long term.

When you are trying out to change something then it doesnt need to be always on a New year but it could be anytime, you are not just trying out to go with the traditional way just because its a new year but somewhat it will be depending on a certain person because each one of us does have that different way of thinking and different levels when it comes to discipline and applying on things on which you do seem which needs to be changed up. If you are seeing that there's something that you dont like in terms of traits or mistakes that you had done on the past years or recently then you have decided to change then you can change it instantly and doesnt need for it to be new year. For financial breakthroughs then we do know that each of us does have that kind of mistakes when it comes to investment or financial decisions on which it do lead to loses.

The important thing on here is that you do able to understand and learnt from it on which for this new year then having those kind of realizations or learnings would be helping you out to be having such change and become progressive no matter what kind of career that you are trying out to go into.

Is not necessary to make new year resolutions for financial breakthroughs reason being that for you to make a resolution on achieving financial breakthrough there must be plans on what to and work to do in other to achieve financial breakthrough and in the case where there is no plan to do such it means that in the next year you will still make such resolution without no proper plan to achieve it. You can't make a new year resolution when you only sit in your house from morning till night without doing anything. Alot of people who does that always becomes lazy because when the year is going and you still hold it in your self that you have resolution to financial breakthrough, year might end without you not achieving what you want to achieve. Every day is an opportunity to make work out on how to be financially stable without new year resolution. In a nutshell personal resolution can take place at anything and not necessarily by the beginning of the year and secondly having a resolution is one thing but working towards achieving is another.

This is what I'm talking about too if you are making a new year financial resolution without a proper framework on how to actualize what you are resolute to do it becomes nonsense or a child's play. You can only make new year resolutions on what you have the capacity to actualize like a character shift, let's say you want to reduce gambling or increase your dancing lessons. Any financial plans without first actualizing the money to manifest it is simply put NONSENSE. Make your new year resolutions is based on what you can achieve, if it concerns money you should make sure that you get the money resolution first before making a resolution on what you will like to use money to achieve in a new year.

We should have short term and long term achievable goals, don't plan to move into a big house within one year time when you don't have a feasible plan to achieve it within one year. You can have an 8 years plan to own a house that you cannot afford now, start now to work towards achieving it. Since your income cannot afford it then think about investing a part of your savings into a store of value like Bitcoin. Think about increasing your income, learn new skills. Search for opportunities to earn more instead of making empty promises to yourself.

If you haven't been working towards a plan to actualize financial breakthrough in a new year don't make a resolution to achieve it. It is not necessary to make new year resolution but if you must let it be only on achievable goals.
Everything you've said is right, of which I agree but I still don't see anything wrong in making new year resolutions so lomg or as far as it cost nothing to do.

Atleast, I will rather spend that time thinking about my life and things to do to make it better rather than having a party with friends who may not even care about my wellbeing so long as they are benefiting something from me all the name of celebrating the new year.
Had it been that creating a new year resolutions cost money or any other form of value, then my question would have been "why spend value on something you end up abandoning half way into the year or less?" but a resolution cost nothing other than a little time, so I see no form of loss here.

And let me say that if out of 100%, 30% of people who create a new year resolution happen to better their life through this, then that's a pass mark, it simply means that new year resolutions actually work but it all depends on our individual effort to make it work for us respectively speaking.

We cannot achieve anything that has not been conceived by our minds first, this is why it is of a very necessity to have plans on things we expect to do and draw a strategic plan to what we want from it, though sometimes, it may take us time and process before we could achieve on something.

This is a new year and as everything is still fresh about the year, we have a long way to go by setting up a plan and see that we arrived at everything we had put in for, the process may be demanding, strategic and take more time, but we will soon arrived at the destination we are heading to if we didn't give us on our plans.

New year resolutions are unnecessary for financial through if you are not putting in any effort to get things done you might not achieve anything. financial breakthrough can only come when you work to get it. Focus on learning a skill or doing something that generates money. it is okay to come up with a resolution for the new year but don't let that be where it stops. A lotnof people make new year resolutions but there is no action taken for them to make progress. financial growth only comes when you do the things that are necessary instead of relying on resolutions and procrastinating

Since the beginning of new year, I have seen countless of WhatsApp status, Facebook and TikTok, the most appearances in seeing are people that have a new year new system talk but guess what? They are the kind of people that doesn't do much work with what they are posting on social media. You are new person but you don't even have the new year you as a person, it's like saying I want to be a president of a country without political party.

I think reality has hit everyone back to where we are, if not that we like to say things that are not even necessary, why will you have a new year resolution when you have much to accomplish from your before plan. It's better you do you and focus on bringing new things that will bring growth and development for you instead of trying to form a new James bond that will die off before we reach half way to the year. I believe many people have forgotten they even made new year resolutions.

Every day is an opportunity to make work out on how to be financially stable without new year resolution. In a nutshell personal resolution can take place at anything and not necessarily by the beginning of the year and secondly having a resolution is one thing but working towards achieving is another.

Some people believe that the first step towards doing something is to think about doing it or simply put, planning it in your mind or at least telling yourself that you will do it, and that's exactly what a resolution is. There is no necessity for making New Year's resolutions, but it has become a trend or something that people do to motivate themselves to do better in the year they are entering if they couldn't do much in the year that has gone by. However, whether someone will actually do those things or not will depend on how much efforts them put in towards fulfilling their resolutions.

Most people are too lazy to do anything, but even they are seen making resolutions on the New Year's eve or the last day of the year, and even though deep down they know that they will barely do any of the things they are uttering as their resolutions, but they still do it because they want to participate in the trend, and make themselves feel that they are also a part of the society that does these things. We humans never want to be left out in anything, this is the basic reasons why trends exist.

Sometimes the things we think of as small things can actually change things. But is a resolution for a breakthrough necessary? I think it is necessary, but there is something more important than that, namely how committed we are in carrying it out. because without it all even though we have a very good resolution but we don't carry it out, then it will be useless.

Like the example you said, it will really feel the impact on our lives. Simple things like that have a big impact on the future, especially if we expand on the example given.

Towards the end of the year to the eve of a new year people make all sorts of resolutions to become better financially and have improved lifestyles.

I don't think it's ideal to start thinking about it at the end of the year. It might work out, but I decided a long time ago to improve my financial situation, drew up a plan, learned more and more about it, and was consistent in my actions. I don't remember exactly when I started, but it definitely wasn't on New Year's Eve, it was more like in the summer.

On New Year's Eve, people tend to review the year, but it's better to review your life and think about the things you can improve on a constant basis. Don't wait for that moment because it's usually like going to the gym: in January, everyone signs up because of their New Year's resolution, and by March, less than half of them are still there. If you want to start going to the gym, any time is a good time, and the same goes for this.

In my opinion, it's always necessary, as long as we have a clear goal, to reduce unnecessary expenses and prioritize what's essential, such as food and services, and avoid going into debt for other things. If it's more feasible, it's best to pay everything at once without jeopardizing the capital you've committed to achieving your objective. It's also valid to save money, either in a virtual account or in physical dollars, for greater responsibility and financial stability. Saving is possible if we are truly committed to our predetermined goal.

We don't need to wait for new year to change or plan for financial breakthrough.
All we have to do is know what we are doing wrong and fix it little by little, be consistent with what we want to change.
Set up small and achievable goals, those small consistent achievement would surely lead to a great result in the long run.

The new year's resolution is good, provided you can actualise it, for to have a resolution, that means there is something you would want to change or improve upon. Either way, it's positive. But the issue is the seriousness of those wanting to make it happen, many are just too lazy to change an old habit, or improve in themselves, so they might keep procrastinating until the end of the year, and even when another year comes, that's when they will make another resolution, and it goes on like that.

I believe the best time to change or improve in oneself is immediately. This is better than making it a yearly change, provided you are serious about it. True change starts immediately!

Personally what I believe is that whatever you did in the whole of the year determines where you will start at the beginning of the year or the next year, there is no magic that you will pull off that can help you become a better person the next year, where you slept last night is where you will continue the next year. I believe that resolutions happens at any time where you discover that you are lacking and decides to change it and not at the beginning of the year where people claims newness.
