Trust wallet compromises

I even created one, but I never used Trust Wallet (I still keep the backup). I believe that because they are the most used, they are also the most targeted by criminals. I remember something similar happened with Atomic, if I'm not mistaken in 2023; at that time I used it a few times, but after what happened I stopped. When it comes to browser extensions, the risk is even greater; there are many hidden scams that I don't know how they get past Google's checks. You can't let your guard down for a second!

Still remember with bigger fund stolen with Atomic wallet and right now can't recovery yet but their teams the same with Sollet.io extension wallet and all my back up seed phrase not recovery yet and missing many eligible airdrop. Not secure yet when using extension wallet and many people easily trust the extension of Trustwallet by saving much fund there, why not using app wallet seems more safe than extension wallet after many extension have been scam and the user fund stolen.

By the way have any responsibility from the trustwallet official about the user loss fund in truswallet extension? sadly if the Trustwallet not responsibility because all fund stolen not the mistake from the user but lack security safe from trustwallet its self.

I will advise you not to use Trust wallet anymore because it's a closed source wallet and one of the worst wallet I have come across so far. It's better that you create an electrum wallet and transfer your funds into it for the safety of your funds. I don't know why you haven't learned from people's mistakes. Trust wallet was hacked recently, and customers lost their funds.

Thank you for your advice. Your advice was instructive for me. I am using Trust Wallet and will transfer my Bitcoin soon. I read that Trust Wallet extension was hacked. I thought scammers would not come to steal such a small Bitcoin holding. I will start using Electrum Wallet soon.

While I do agree that people shouldn't use Trust wallet, Electrum shouldn't really be mentioned as an alternative because it is a bitcoin only wallet, while Trust is multicoin wallet, and people use it to store other crypto beside bitcoin. At least vast majority of Trust users does that.

Instead, there are open source non custodial wallets that are better option for those looking for an alternative.

Download a wallet from a wrong source is your responsibility, as you don't know how to do that rightly. It's not responsibility of Trust wallet or any other wallets. Users must know how to search for a wallet's website and get official download links, they must be fully responsible with this action. I disagree with you in this point, as no company can control how people do on Internet, and if people carelessly download a fake wallet through a phishing site, it's no way the company can protect its users.

Trust wallet is bad because it is close source.
The same is with Exodus wallet, that is close source too.

With Electrum wallet, that is open source, and is a better wallet to use, but use Electrum wallet rightly.

It really sounds like you might have downloaded a fake version from a sketchy link, trust wallet is usually fine for most people so maybe double check where you got it from before you jump ship to something else entirely

Don't you know that some people who is not familiar with app they wants to download,  can see a similar app and download it unknowingly to them, so such occurrence can be the problem why op is receiving a warning,  nobody suggestions that he should held the trust wallet responsible, he can trash the trust wallet and download Electrum.

Yeah the wallet has multiple address, sending to any of it address still put the funds in same risk.

I didn’t notice btw, he didn’t include it in his post but I wasn’t actually directing the post to you, the particular post itself was suggesting they should just “send to a new address” which could be misleading and not capturing your full address to the issue.. but it’s all good you quoted it once again for ref.

Trust wallet, well what you should do is open your wallet and see if they notified you there also if they didn’t and you are not sure it is them and you don’t also don’t want to take chances of losing your wallet to hackers because you refused to top up your security what you should do is to login into your wallet and try taking some steps to protect your wallet very well. I believe this is related to scam so be very careful if your wallet is already well protected and you are very sure know one knows your secret phrase then ignore the message. Sometimes I just get so tired of this scammers always updating in ways to scam people of their money.
Your first step is to confirm how true or authentic is the message.

Trust Wallet has always been a wallet where unexplainable things happen. If I were the OP, I would change to another wallet because I don't see any reason why Trust Wallet, which is a non-custodial wallet, would have to do with a browser.

It's possible that if you decide to still use the wallet, nothing will happen, but for me, receiving a message like this sounds like a threat which I don't think one should just ignore. However, OP, you also need to check yourself well to ensure you are protecting your wallet properly.

It depends how long you are hodling your BTC in trust wallet, if you are hodling for long years, I will not encourage you to hodl BTC in your trust wallet, because there are many rumors that trust wallets are very easy for scammers to break into to scam people BTC which is the fear some people have these days not to save big amount of BTC in the trust wallet.

If you change to electrum wallet to start using the wallet to hodl your BTC for long years, you have nothing to fear of scam unless you expose your seeds phrase to people before they can gain access to your coins in that wallet, because since I have been using electrum wallet I have not experience any challenge from the Electrum wallet.You don't need to force some investors to store their BTC in electrum wallet, because some will start suspecting that you want to force them to start using scam wallet which is not true.

It depends how long you are hodling your BTC in trust wallet, if you are hodling for long years, I will not encourage you to hodl BTC in your trust wallet, because there are many rumors that trust wallets are very easy for scammers to break into to scam people BTC which is the fear some people have these days not to save big amount of BTC in the trust wallet.

There is no such condition of how long you plan to hold your bitcoin in a wallet, and it's wrong too to advise that if the holding plan is for very short time, Trust wallet can be used.

You know your bitcoin is precious and you must protect it, store it as safest as possible, and another fact is you can lose your bitcoin anytime by bad storage praactice. If you choose Trust wallet or a centralized exchange as where you store your bitcoin, you can lose it anytime, even minutes after you funding your Trust wallet or your exchange account.

Therefore, let's choose a good wallet to use at start and don't delay this first vital step any more time.
