And messages from strangers are always a common way that people are scammed, and people need to do better. The only thing people need to do in this situation is not to have any form of conversation with a stranger, because that is the only way that this thing can be avoided. because i don't even see the reason why people need to accept any form of advice from a stranger, no matter what they are proposing, they don't have a business with you and that is why it should not be taking for granted at all because this is like one of the best advice that can be giving to anyone in this case but people don't get it maybe because they don't know what fraud stars are capable of doing.

And people need to take their security very seriously because when it comes to taking responsibility about your asset, it needs to be taken very seriously, and the best thing we can do is to lecture and encourage them not to have anything to do with an identity they don't know, and if you look at these scammers, they always have their target and they don't usually don't take chances and that is why some people think they like going after elderly people, which is not completely a lie.

Hmm, don't you think you are over reacting to ops post? His post clearly is educational but not only on the aspect of crypto or newbie, but on our real life events as well. It doesn't really matter how smart you or anyone is; anyone can fall victim to scams, hacks and theft. You might ignore some fact just because you feel you have knowledge but no one is an island of knowledge.

Some people actually enjoy attacking others. They believe they are superior to others and consider themselves knowledgeable. We all know that OP gave some good advice that should apply to any level of crypto user, but this person suddenly said he doesn't like OP's advice. LOL. Who cares if you like it or not? If you like it, you should appreciate it; if you don't, please mention the reasons why you dislike it.

I thought I was experienced enough. However, I fell for a scam a year ago, and it was a fairly basic phishing scam, which I could have avoided if I had paid closer attention to the URL.

So why did you reply without reading my post completely, you wrote the information that I gave in my post in your post as you wish. You know these things, you avoid them, but if those who do not know that such frauds are committed know about these things, I hope there will be no problem. Fraudsters will not only try to cheat you or me, fraudsters will cheat anyone they get the chance to cheat, in that case, if you are careful in advance, then there is nothing wrong with it. I have seen many such incidents where a link is shared through spam mail and when a user clicks on it and gives some information, he gives access to his device to the fraudster without his knowledge.
These people do such things because they are not careful in advance.
So let those who do not know at all know.

That's right. That's how people learn. "He who has ears, let him hear." If people don't read the warnings, they'll inevitably fall into the trap, and those who are overconfident will fall into the trap faster than anyone else.
People are very hasty these days, and there are a ton of psychological techniques floating around the internet about how to influence people to make quick decisions. So, whenever someone offers you an "interesting" or "profitable" business, don't rush. Research all the information through multiple sources, and never make a hasty decision.

How about when the scammer comes in the form of someone you know?
Indeed. A virus is currently spreading in my country that hijacks Telegram accounts and sends requests for financial assistance through contacts. It's also possible to catch a virus that modifies a phone owner's voice using AI and uses the voice of a friend to ask for financial assistance. So you're right, isolating yourself from the world by not responding to anyone is simply impossible. But you can be more vigilant, reading and constantly monitoring all events that can prevent you from falling into scammers' traps.

It's just how the forum is though many people are like that and it's not nice honestly. If you don't like what someone says or post just ignore it and go find another thread to spam on. It's not posted as a must for you to reply. The forum is meant to give everyone equal opportunities to learn and become better on the aspect of crypto and the real life as well..

Those listed are relate on a conversation could be in social media or other communication platform which is they can easily reach out the user just they have the username, email, user account id, or even with their phone so they can search with the platform and now they can contact them, some of the platform allowing a feature if they arent friend at all they cant even communicate each other or make a direct contract they need to reach out first so its the user descreation if they will approve the request. Also some other platform requires a subscription to have this feature. Now if the conversation is already skeptic such as seeking information of yours as much as possible avoid. If the offer is too good to be true avoid. There's is no easy money in crypto such a risk free investment.

I thought I was experienced enough. However, I fell for a scam a year ago, and it was a fairly basic phishing scam, which I could have avoided if I had paid closer attention to the URL.

You just made remembered sweeper bot experience. I'm not too familiar with the things that happen on EVM, but I do have one Metamask extension on my PC but I don't use it frequently. One very day, I wanted to bridge ethereum from ethereum chain to optimism, I wanted to claim one reward I got from discord from a contest. Unknowingly, I had approved a contract with a sweeper bot and I didn't know because I don't even know what that was then even though I have seen some threads about it but because I don't use EVM, I never checked to see.

I copied my wallet address and made some deposit but everything was cleared from my wallet on first confirmation, that was barely less than 3 seconds of validators confirmation. I did check the contract and saw other addresses victim, I searched about it and boom, sweeper bot did it thing, I learned new thing that day. Perhaps if I paid little attention in the earlier threads, I might see that coming or probably avoid them.

To those that think OP isn't making any sense, you can read and pass or read and learn. There's no waste in any knowledge; even in a nonsense, there's sense.

It is fairly simple actually: if something sounds to good to be true, it is a scam.

Luckily for scammers, there is a constant influx of new people that are getting into crypto who keep listening about people that got rich overnight, so they think of it as some kind of magic money where normal rules don't apply. And that's how you get people falling for most stupid type of crypto scams like "send me xyz BTC and I will send you double the amount".

I don't like your advices. Care to know why?

Your brain is not on the same level as others, you are smart and that's because you know the dangers, when you are trying to advice others always try to consider those who are not smart at all.

This is why I will rather choose to advice people to not give attention to strangers at all, as a beginner in this crypto space for example, they have no past experience, the more time you give strangers the likelihood of surrendering to them.

The more you listen 👂 to what a stranger have to say, the likelihood that you will become their puppet.

So my dear, I would rather advise people to not give room to strangers at all, most of the strangers that I have talked to online all have a big goal in mind, it always end up with them trying to use me one way or the other, not just errands style but trying to rob me of my money, which is why I have come to a nasty conclusion that strangers hardly have your best interests at heart.

They are always heartless and looking for a weak point to use on you. It is ten times safer to avoid or ignore them totally.
I have read the op over and over again and can't find what part of his post needs smartness to understand.  This is a simple rule which can also be applicable to fiat transactions. I cannot count how many times scammers have slide into my dm requesting for either fiat or Bitcoin details.  Sometimes, these scammers do not come as strangers, they hack accounts of relatives we already know and are close to. We can't just ignore them like that, but with this advice given by the op, we would know when some things are off and handle it carefully without losing anything.

No advice is irrelevant, op gave a very vital information. You should give yours and not condemn the op.

To avoid scams, you have to be technically aware and knowledgeable about crypto because they are always more updated than the scammers themselves. They create new ways that no one knows or understands until the scam has already happened. So scams cannot be prevented with certain rules or information and this is the real truth.

However, since we are definitely connected to Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram or other social media, in most cases or it can be said that 80%-90% of people fall victim to scams from such platforms. Therefore, in my opinion, it is possible to prevent about fifty percent by being aware of social media alone.

And the best part of the opinions of those who always feel superior to others is that it matters more only to them, no very many people care about what they think, except for people who are just like them.

Even if what someone said isn’t entirely correct or accurate, if you keep your superiority complex aside you’ll be able to actually make out some sense in them. For example the guidelines that the OP laid out, yes it’s true that the OP only said those things according to his level of knowledge and there may be other methods he may not know yet, but that doesn’t mean these ones should be discarded. Just because one person doesn’t find them helpful doesn’t mean it’s completely useless and other won’t find them helpful.

Even experienced individuals can fall victim to these scams, and this has been proven hundreds of times. The people who work for the crypto exchanges like Bybit are more advanced users, and I am sure they know how not to get scammed. Yet, the hackers managed to drain their wallets. So, it's not like that the victims are always the newbies. Crypto veterans can fall for scams if they do not pay attention.

You were scammed, I was scammed too and I know more forum members who fell for the scams. We know that Condoras died a few months ago and he is known for his lending service. That guy fell for a scam too. So, it is proven that anyone can be victim of the hacks and the scams.

We are certainly connected to Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram or other social media, but here too we have to use these social media with sufficient caution.  From real experience, I am trying to discuss several things below that can initially be assumed to be a scam.

•If suddenly an unknown person sends a personal message on WhatsApp or Telegram that if you invest in their site, they will give you 100% profit and the user can withdraw that profit every day, then initially you have to assume that they are a scammer and no communication can be made with them.

•If they keep putting pressure on all these accounts by sending messages to their accounts that you should do it now or the sooner you do it, the faster you will get profit, then you have to think that there is a problem here too.

•Sometimes scammers try to present themselves in a smarter way, they basically try to introduce themselves by hiding their identity and introducing some people whom people will trust, but I would say that until it can be verified and verified, you cannot actually fall into their trap.

•If they are more interested in talking about private key or phrase, then they should be blocked immediately because this is the easiest way to identify a scammer.

•Again, many times fraudsters share some links in their personal messages where if you enter and provide some information, the device access will be given to them. By doing this, they can steal your bank account or any other important information, so you cannot enter such links.

•The most important thing about accounts is that it is better to avoid these messages from people we do not know but they will tell us about investment or other things through personal messages because the CEO of a project or any other member will never tell anyone about investment in their platform through personal messages or show any other lure.
Crypto fraud is easy to spot if you watch behavior. Ignore unsolicited messages promising guaranteed or fast profits. Treat urgency and pressure as a red flag. Never share private keys or seed phrases, no legit service asks for them. Avoid random links sent in DMs, they often steal data or wallets. Real projects do not contact users privately to push investments.

Crypto fraud is not so difficult to spot, but people still fall for them, most people are always after quick money, that’s why they do easily get scammed. When it’s comes to scam strategy, most scammers are always promising high reward within a very short period of time without any risk involved in it, and that’s what most people are always after right now. Most people are always after quick money that’s why they easily get scammed, they believe they can make quick money in crypto space.

When you receive any message from anyone on social media asking you to click a link, or asking you to invest in a particular place, then you should know you are likely going to be scammed, when anyone message you on any social media platform, just always tag them as scammer.

Good points this is how modern scammers do , like in telegram, Discord, social media, they were trying to message you out of nowhere and yes sometimes pressure you on things, giving you advice on something that this might be the biggest crypto almost like bitcoin, sometimes i find it funny that they are all scripted because its the same pattern, more funny is they try to change their name but the profile is the same, sometimes i try to ride on their act, and make fun of them, they realize i fall for their scheme and then block them, then in the next day they comes back with a new name and the same picture.

One of the unchecked means is realizing the greed within. I get it that it could apply in a whole lot of concepts as greed ca be integrated anywhere but, when you find yourself believing so much in the unrealistic or what isn’t looking like what you would do for others to benefit from your better applying a lot of skepticism as that could easily turn out to be fraud.

I was expecting something like, adjusting every social media accounts to private, so that no strangers can send PM. The points that OP dropped, from number 1 to number 5 can all be avoided simply by adjusting who can send you PMs, no talking or texting strangers can keep one away from these dangers.
Do you have any effective privacy tips? Not posting personal contact information in public spaces or otherwise? I think that's just basic precaution. Once you submit your information online (whether it's a public space or a registration form), you're essentially leaking your own data.
You can't guarantee that a second or third party will keep your information secure.

Just because one person doesn’t find them helpful doesn’t mean it’s completely useless and other won’t find them helpful.

Exactly. As long as it is helpful, people should appreciate the writer instead of criticizing them for their limited knowledge. The community is huge, and the guide is posted in the "Beginners" and "Help" sections. If someone thinks they are advanced users and doesn't need this advice, what are they doing in the section dedicated to Beginners and the help section?

As I said before in this thread, anyone can be a victim of the scam. It doesn't matter if they are beginner users or advanced users. I have seen many people who are crypto veterans yet have been scammed/hacked somehow. So, every guide teaches you something new.

For many, email phishing is a common scam that almost every is aware of, but funny as it may sound, a friend of mine who’s been in the crypto industry long before I even entered. He fell for the email phishing scam and lost a crazy amount of crypto.

So yeah anyone can be victimized by even the most common scam if they’re not informed, it doesn’t matter their position the crypto space, not everyone learns at the same exact pace, some can be in the space for years but learning at a very slow pace especially when it comes to matters that concerns security, because not everyone knows just how important the security of their assets really is.

One thing that I always remember to avoid scammers is when they offers fast profit by investing some amounts. The bigger I invest will give bigger profit. Well, that is not deniable to say that is scams. No investment that will gives you profit in short time. All will need process and time and will not gives that quickly.

But scammers will do anything to convince their targets and lure them until their targets get into their trap. Scammers pretend that they offers a real things. You need to be wise if you have been contacted by them and not in rush decide. You need to make sure everything and research before you decide.

For many, email phishing is a common scam that almost every is aware of, but funny as it may sound, a friend of mine who’s been in the crypto industry long before I even entered. He fell for the email phishing scam and lost a crazy amount of crypto.

It's not funny, mate. Anyone can lose a hefty amount of money if they do not pay enough attention when they are dealing with their crypto wallet. I got tricked myself a year ago, as I said multiple times before. I was doing airdrop at that time and I received an email, which seemed like game from a platform called Galxy or whatever it was, I thought I really had some unclaimed bonus. I clicked on the link, connected my wallet and boom. The problem is, I did not checked the URL carefully, nor did I check the sender email carefully. It was because I was careless and did not paid any attention to the details of the sender informations.
