Which one is better when you are betting? Gambling sites or prediction market?

If anyone is saying that "betting" is better on prediction markets, they don't know what they're doing!

You don't go to a prediction amrekt to bet, you go there to trade options, the way you make money there is not by choosing the winner, it's by trading the right options vene if they are losing ones, if you buy them cheap and time the market when they go up because of a freak event, you sell them and you have made money wiht a losing horse. Prediction markets resemble more the cash-out option rather than traditional betting

Are you like me? I have not made use of any prediction market before but I have an account there. I do not know if I should give it a try or not. My advise on you, only maintain playing your games on sports and continue with the gambling platforms of your choice, when it comes to prediction market, its another thing entirely and this may take longer period than the usual sport bets we commonly play, not only that, you could be placed with options of different markets to gamble on and risk the chance of losing the more than winning, except you're already used to playing over time.

I have an account on Polymarket, but I've never made a prediction. I've been closely following the history of big wins on the Polymarket platform, and I'm under the impression that the winners are mostly insiders. 🙋

A recent example: a player won a bet on Venezuelan President Maduro losing power. Jokes have already surfaced online that this player could have been the helicopter pilot who dropped off American Delta Force soldiers in Caracas. He pressed two buttons on his smartphone and became a rich man. And I'm not an insider. So I'm not sure I'll be able to bet on Polymarket (and win, which is very important). Although it's definitely worth a try.

That's why I prefer playing at online casinos. Everything is much simpler and more intuitive there, from the website interface to the game mechanics themselves. I usually bet on sporting events.

Crypto sportbooks are much convenient and you get more choices of games to bet compared to poly market or atleast that is what I know and also polymarket is not allowed for many country's residents so very few limited people are going to use so it is much likely to be less choice of games and they also list shit load of weird predictions that is where they concentrate more so if you want better gambling expereince the sportsbooks are the preferred ones.

Im more familiar with sports booking and I mostly go make my bookings on any platform of my choice so for now, it seem to be my favorite until I use prediction market and find it more interesting then I'll know what to say concerning which is more preferable. Anyways, several factors would determine my decision concerning which is preferable, but then I'll prefer the one with a lesser risk factor when I finally experience both but for now, I'll stick to sports betting.

I have never tried prediction markets either. Most gamblers are definitely more familiar with betting on the usual betting sites they access. But if you want to get more input, or if you want to experiment, you can suggest to your gambler friends at your hangouts to try a prediction market site. And try to ask them directly about their experiences.

I used both. Basically, i see nothing difference overall, but the mechanism in betting is the only different. When you bet on prediction market is the same like you're buying the shares if the club you bet to win. When your team is coring and lead the game, your shares price can be pumped, and you can leave and take the profit even before the game is ended.

Hmmm, if the mechanism works as you say, it seems interesting to try it out in the prediction market. My idea is to capitalize on matches involving strong teams or teams that tend to score first. However, one thing I would like to understand is whether the stock price increase is triggered differently depending on when the goal is scored, for example, does a goal in the first half cause a different price increase compared to a goal in the second half, or is the increase the same?

Gambling site because it's straight forward, you just pick a team place the bet then wait for the result simple and short, while the prediction market is like or it feels more like a trading, in which you buy and sell it's outcome based on it's probability that's not all, you will need to be patient too and have a better understanding before you can be able to enjoy it.

If you just want to be placing a bet for sports like EPL without you thinking too much, then gambling site is the one and it's easier too. And if it's about strategy and you don't mind learning gradually, then prediction markets will be interesting, it's all depends on what you're looking for.

Casinos. All those polymarket type of places are way too political for my taste and things that are popular there are usually not that many sports, it's other stuff where people can bet on whatever they want. Normal sportsbooks however are places that are easier to bet and they have odds for almost anything, at prediction markets you are only capable of betting on things others also bet, but with sportsbooks you can bet on the number of yellow cards because of the options and that is better.

Plus, I trust them more, while casinos are not famous for their trustworthy way of running a business and many turned out to be scams, I think the ones that I am playing are fine and not really that bad so I can trust them more.

It doesn't really matter whether you "buy" odds from a bookmaker or from a prediction market. But liquidity is a problem. It's probably not a big deal for small bets, but for larger bets (compared to regular bookmakers), it would be like this: outcome 1 is quoted at 1.9, but the maximum bet is $1,000. If you want to bet $10,000, the odds drop to 1.8 or even lower due to low liquidity. This problem does not exist with traditional bookmakers as they provide greater liquidity.

I don't even think I have come across any other form of event which is not sport being available for betting on in gambling sites. The predictions platforms are just bringing a whole new thing to the betting industry, and all event results sometimes can't be determined, even the political ones, which you think one actor has more influence over but could end up the other way, which we don't expect. It's just best that whatever we choose to bet on, we do it because we want to with a minimal amount and not stake a higher amount influenced by our confidence level.

You should try it, but Polymarket isn’t the same as a typical sportsbook. They don’t offer a lot of markets like what you usually see on regular books where a single game can have hundreds of betting options. On Polymarket, it doesn’t really work that way.

I think part of the reason it’s popular is because it’s decentralized as they claim, and they also allow very high betting limits. Some sportsbooks can’t do that since they need to balance the action to make sure they can settle all bets properly.

I mean for sure sportsbetting is just way more entertaining than the prediction market. Sports have a huge fanbase, who doesn't love to play basketball and watching NBA for example, right? If you love the sport im sure that the sportbetting on the sport is one that you are going to like, Also you will have high advantage since you watch the sport all the time, you know the players, stats something like that, updates, injuries etc, so you have a good idea of what could be the outcome, you will have great analysis on the game for sure, so somehow you have increase your chances of winning on sportbetting.

Prediction market how every is kinda simple, you just need to predict what is going to happen in the market, like is it going to cross 100k$? something like that, and it is just a yes or no question, it's simple its a gamble, there was no leverage like futures, and there were no liquidations. I would say that it is a little safe for future trading, but still you could still lose your bet. It is getting popular the way I see it, but both have differences, so it would complete depends on the user's preference if they like something like sport betting or prediction market. Either way, the main thing is just do it responsibly and do it strategically so that you can avoid financial collapse.

I really have not seen a reason to open an account on prediction market as I'm very okay with sports betting, and I have an understanding to some extent of the possible options, leagues, clubs and all that concerns sports betting. Prediction market does not really interest me so I don't feel bothered or pressured to open one. Casinos to a certain extent got my attention but I still stick with sports betting.

 But just for further clarification, is prediction market a bit more profit assured than sports betting? I feel a lot more comfortable gambling on something I have a lot of confidence in, it gives a different kind of vibe compared to what you don't entirely enjoy or like playing.

However, I have never tried to use any of the prediction markets before, and I don't know, maybe i am addicted to gambling sites or don't want to try new things. But i just don't have the feelings that there is a good reason to use it because most of the game offered by the prediction market seems not to align with what i like.

I’ve used both and they serve different purposes.

Traditional sportsbooks are better if you want liquidity, bonuses and fast execution on popular leagues. Odds are shaped by the house but the experience is familiar and efficient.
Prediction markets are more interesting from a price-discovery perspective. You’re trading sentiment and probability rather than betting against a bookmaker, but liquidity can be thinner and execution slower.

For most casual sports betting, sportsbooks are still easier. Prediction markets make more sense if you care about market mechanics more than entertainment.

I haven't tried betting on prediction markets, but I'm most interested in where the average player finds it most profitable to play and how exactly prediction markets make money from players. If I learn that prediction markets offer better betting conditions, I'll be there in no time. But for now, I only check out a few event probabilities. Overall, I see them actively developing and likely the future, because I see so many platforms trying to implement them to start making money faster than others; even wallets are doing it.
