One of the reason why people get addicted to gambling is making profit, this isn't talked about much but it is a fact, especially from beginners  a lot of people get hooked to gambling after their first win because they think that they can keep on getting the smae results from it but that's not how gambling works. Even when making profit it is very important to be in control of your actions to avoid getting addicted

It is being talked a lot especially in this board. You'd see people tell everyone that they shouldn't gamble for profit but only for fun.

For me it doesn't occur from this instance but mainly it's generated from mere greed and when this happens the individual involve can't resist that urge and they become consistent or irresistible gamblers that tend to pursue money over fun. Those who gamble mainly gamble for fun, but there are some gamblers who gamble to earn money. Mostly just overconfidence because the players who are gambling are hoping to get big wins and their mindset is there to win big as well. However the casinos is not working there as a charity, rather they will use these same emotions to screw the hell out of you. How can a person run away from family responsibility by turning to an addictive gambler.

How is that even possible when there are several attributive behaviours like gangsterism, becoming an alcoholic and heaps of other vices that can be indulged in invasive of responsibility. Greed and inadequate discipline of self is what do lead to gambling addiction.

Joblessness is not the only reason why so many gamblers are taking betting very seriously but some people already got the passion for gambling and they might not feel fine when they don't bet in a day. Gambling has so many illness it cures when gamblers are making money from their several bets, cashing out profits while some of their mate might have not earned the kind of results they are getting from gambling in terms of finance.
