How does the whole merit giving aspect work?

I get it that the op seems frustrated that the "good way" isn't fetching them the "attention" that's deserved but again, when has anything good come easy? It takes a lot of a patience to grow here, I won't lie but that doesn't mean that growth won't happen.

I don't think the OP was upset. Although he did not agree with my accusation of insincerity and ignorance of how merits are distributed on the forum. His post and the creation of this topic were just another attempt to attract attention, hoping to get more merit. Do you want examples of how a beginner once achieved great success?

 Why? If he is telling the truth, he shouldn't delete his posts. I will answer because the OP has another, already successful account, to which he does not want to attract additional attention. And yes, if he is reading this now (even if there is no activity from this account), then calling the account that supposedly needs support a beginner is also tantamount to lying.

Don't think too much about it. If you find a post that you personally think deserves merits, give it how many merits you like and have. Don't worry about what other people may say about it. There are no rules to giving someone merits unless you are selling them, giving them to your alts, etc. The same is true for amounts of merits you give. If you think the post deserves only 1 merit, give it +1. If you think it deserves any other number, then do that. Obviously, you must have the needed sMerits and for that you need to have received merits from other people earlier.

It's all subjective. Each person judges what they consider a merit-worthy, quality post individually. It's ok to merit posts other people haven't and it's equally fine to merit those that many other forum members have.

As you make your way around the forum you will notice that in some sub-boards people will merit others more frequently, while in others there are almost no merits to be found. That's because merit sources don't visit certain boards they believe are infested with spam and generally lack quality discussions.
