Smoking in front of your children, right or wrong?

there's one of my uncle that smokes but whenever he sees me or any of my cousins coming he will hide the smoke, that is how an elderly person is supposed to do,  once you are in front of children hide it, if not you're gradually teaching them how to smoke.

You have your point which is reasonable too but the thing about the point you raised is that these days people have changed with the way technology have also grown. Children are use to so many things now even without learning it from their parents or taught by their parents. It is not good though but what is now good or bad is relative to different people. Back in the days, the fathers don't smoke at home but today even in their bedrooms they smoke. Even alcohol has some phenomenon and this is why you see teenagers exhibiting different kinds of immoral behaviours. I think the culprit is the society which has metamorphose from a homogeneous society to heterogeneous one and you have mixed attitudes and behaviour currupting the weakest of the society. Children really need to be protected from vices that will push them into ways of living that is not what they can decide on at that early stage of their lives.

You have a point, because a lot of people don't know the vacuum that is being created when these kids eventually found out that their dad smokes. Just imagine if you find out that a very quiet and well mannered dude in your neighborhood is actually into things you never thought of him, that alone can create a vacuum, which a lot of children might eventually struggle to handle because they aren't matured enough. I would prefer that parents should smoke very far away_{(not even around their premises)}, if they truly want to set a false standards that can at least keep the children away from such lifestyle.

That is a good question btw. I saw numerous times that parents hide fact that they smoke, while their children know what smoking is and already saw parents smoking. Why do parents do that? Because they are shy or dont know how to explain to children their need to do things that they previously described as bad and forbid doing? I am sure that even if a child tries smoking, taste of a cigarette and burn in lungs and throat will prevent from continuing smoking. Child will start to smoke only to look cool and to impress his friends. If parents manage to teach that there are other ways to impress people, then it is a little safe from childs start of smoking.

 If 18 years old plus is the recommended range for exposing children at some certain things, then we should consider it as being what is right if our conscience is still there and wrong if we think they are be open to any that any time, life is not hard, but it will be a shameful thing if we are contributing to that can ruin their life, instead of allowing positive taught come over through us, setting good example for them to follow.

it’s worrying that not even the mother finds this disturbing or at the very least smokers should be more careful around others and be more aware of the dangers of second hand smoke

Fortunately, I don't smoke, I don't like it at all!

Children are very very sensitive set of persons especially when they trying to build there believe system, whatever you do freely around a child is what he or she will see as a normal thing to do you will be surprised to see that such a child you smoke everytime in his or her presence will want to try that thing you when no body is around because he or she sees it as a normal and harmless thing .

Some parents are just anyhow people, they real don't care about the future of their children, they do a lot of things in front of their kids, not just smoking, they fight each, exchange words in front of their kids, without minding the affect on this kids when they grow up.

Smoking or any indicent act should be done in absence of your kids, because children learn from what they see and they try to repeat it. I saw on the Internet a girl child using her mum's vibrator to touch her self, where on earth did she learn that from, it obvious the mum used it in her front and she try to repeat it.  If to care about your children, they're thin you don't do in their front.

If you are doing anything in front of your children and they noticed you, whenever those children start similar thing, there is nothing you going to tell them, because how are you going to tell them that what they are doing is wrong, when you are also doing the same thing. Whenever you are doing anything bad, then make sure your children are not there, because if they are there, they might end up doing what you doing, and you just have to be looking at them.

Due to Internet and electronic gadgets like smartphone kids these days are well aware of boht positive and negative things in society. There are young people in my circle who smoke since they were in school but there parents are non smoker. As a parent we must not smoke in front of our kids nor do anyother negative activity in front of our kids. A responsible parent wouldn't smoke near his very tender children since they would try to copy him and that isn't the things they should be bothered with at a very tender age. There are levels of information and exposure that are deemed appropriate with respect to their age and development, over exposure always affects them longterm. I read some people say that it's bad to house it from your kids and I was amazed at why they hide making love from the children since overexposing the children are deemed natural

I've seen children who are suffering from the medical effects of certain erroneous practices in their upbringing. Secondary smoking is dangerous to the health of these kids and that should never be exposed to it.

The things we do in front of our children are what they will consider as part of their lives and will grow up to be like that. However, here, since two couples are smoking in front of their children, it can create a mentality in their children that this may be a normal part of life and it is not that harmful because it is not presented in front of them as harmful but it is presented in general. Such activities can influence their wrong behavior. It is our responsibility to provide a healthy environment for children, so every adult in the family should take care that such activities are not done in front of the younger members, which are harmful but they can take it easily. Smoking in front of kids is considered wrong as it can affect their learning abilities, parents are the first role models to their children and some habits can be easily picked by these children since they see it happen around them on daily basis.

Smoking can also cause great health damage to children, for some people it might mean nothing to them as they can smoke freely in the presence of their wife and kid's but the truth is, generally smoking in front of kids isn't right. An adult inhaling smoke from a smoker around him/her is dangerous compared to children who are very tender and still at growing age.

There are some bad habits that most children are exibiting nowadays that if being asked you'll realise that it all started from their various homes, I know a guy that smokes and he told me bluntly that his father was smoking in their presence as kids, so he started with ordinary paper and will carry matche sticks to school to smoke, he said the day his father saw him smoking that he was blaming himself and according to him that he can't stop smoking, a lot of damage can be done at a young age that's why it is important that parents should practice good behaviours in their homes as these children will grow up to be leaders and if proper care isn't taking it can cause great damage, protecting and nurturing them in a good and healthy environment should count always.

I was chilling with my siblings at the rooftop bar section of a hotel when I noticed this man who came on a date with his family and was smoking cannabis freely in front of his wife and two beautiful children of as not more than 5 and 7. It was unpleasant to me because children see their parents as role models and are very fast to copying what they see their parents do. Exposing them to such experience at a tender age reinforces the desire to smoke in them and may even see them start smoking before they are adults, with or without the knowledge and permission of their parents.

Furthermore, there are health implication of inhaling cannabis in their tender body systems. Children can suffer seizures and even breathing problems from cannabis poisoning, it can also cause asthma attacks, unnecessary agitation and even decreased coordination in children. Temporal effects on children can last from 24-36 hours.

I don't condemn smoking as an adult, but it is a better practice not to expose these very tender ones to the harsh physical, health and psychological effects of smoking.

I gotta say its wrong, not saying that to judge or act like Im perfect, but if were sticking to that life is a long game
and our bodies are our greatest assets then smoking around kids is basically sabotaging them before they start

Look, everyone knows that smoking or drinking in front of children will be negative. If a child is young and smoking in front of them, then the child will definitely develop a kind of addiction to smoking unknowingly. Children will be able to learn what you teach them easily. If you do good things in front of children, then children will learn to do good things. I do not smoke either, so I'm against smoking in areas where children are present. Because it will significantly affect their health if they inhale cigarette smoke. However, I do not think someone smoking in front of children should be condemned simply because we fear they will imitate them. Because how can you guarantee it will not learn from others and do it behind your back?

Therefore, if you want your children not to smoke, you need to educate them about the harmful effects of tobacco and teach them to proactively avoid environments with cigarette smoke
