You did research to confirm if bitcoin is legit, dude that sound very funny. Yes research is good thing but bitcoin isnt shitcoin that person.shoild have to confirm if it is legit or not. Bitcoin is fucking legit man and the price of bitcoin holds all the evidence toi need to know wether it is legit or not.

How is what he said funny? You already said doing research is good yet you're saying his statement is funny or is it because the research is on Bitcoin? What if he had no knowledge about Bitcoin investment before doing the research? You didn't put that into consideration or do you expect him to invest blindly into what he doesn't understand because it's Bitcoin?
If you think so then you're the one who is funny cause i think investing blindly into anything including Bitcoin is wrong, atleast the research he did would give him heads up of what he's going into before he decide to do it, or can't you see that "he got some level of conviction" about the coin after that research? Even the basic knowledge you advised on can still be gotten through research.

Not just Bitcoin, it is very proper to do research before investing in anything. There are people out there who still don’t know about bitcoin, so when such people want to invest into it, they need to make research, at least that will give them a clear understanding on what they are putting their money into. So it not funny that he really makes research about Bitcoin.

I think every one of us make research about Bitcoin before investing in it. Bitcoin looks more globally now but still making research about it is not wrong. So at least he knows now that he don’t need much to start an Investment in bitcoin. This research will give him the basics he need to know.

If a person doesn't know about what they are investing then there is no way for them to be investing in it. The common mistake people make is that when ever they see research in someone's post they assume they are talking about hours of dedicated research on the nitty gritty of bitcoin but a simple look on what bitcoin is, how to buy, where to buy and even knowing what volatility means qualifies as research and they can invest in bitcoin if they don't know this things.

A person who has heard the name Bitcoin and is willing to invest, knows what Bitcoin is and where to buy it from. A person may never be willing to buy it just by hearing the name Bitcoin, that person will definitely know some information or know the good and bad sides of Bitcoin and only after that they will be willing to invest. If a person hears the name Bitcoin then he will definitely never be willing to invest. Because he does not know what Bitcoin is, he may think that Bitcoin is a food or a product etc.

So a person who is willing to invest knows what Bitcoin is and only after that he is willing to invest. To start investing, a person only needs basic knowledge related to Bitcoin and basic knowledge does not mean that a person needs to know much except calculating discretionary income. If a person is able to find the source of discretionary income then he can start investing.

Even though you don't necessarily need basic knowledge before starting, but i wouldn't call basic knowledge an excuse either. There's a different between learning while investing and investing blindly. You don't need to master every details but you should understand to use only money you can afford to lose, from there, learning can continue alongside a simple and disciplined strategy.
Basic knowledge is needed in whatsoever investment an individual wants to venture into, Bitcoin included.. Mind you, some folks don't even know what Bitcoin even is since they are not in this space and it will even be very difficult for such an individual to kickstart their investments journey since they don't even know what they are entering into..Without basic knowledge folks wouldn't even know where or how to buy bitcoin, as well as what they are actually buying, but with this basic knowledge at least they gain a little exposure... Surely folk don't need to be expert before they make their first buy, but they shouldn't overlook some basic knowledge.. At the same time learning shouldn't be halted after making their first buy.. Instead folks can continue learning as they go since there are certain things which are much more easier and better to learn through actual experience...

It’s very ridiculous to assume that someone that only hears the name “Bitcoin” may think it’s food or product. Be real pls, this is 21st century. A very huge percentage of people interested in buying Bitcoin already understand that it’s a form of digital asset.

You also need to explain what you meant by “basic knowledge related to Bitcoin” and “good and bad side of Bitcoin”. Because the statement makes starting look like a lot of work. How does a beginner even know what and what it is from afar, without investing? And does that guarantee they won’t make mistakes when they start?
Folks that’s just trying to kickstart Bitcoin accumulation, the only basic knowledge needed is being able to calculate their discretionary income and how much they can comfortably set aside without putting important needs at stake. They can gather whatever knowledge they need while accumulating with sustainable amount.

Imo, research is good thing , but it can be done while person is already ongoingly investing. Any person that wants to research before they start investing are also in the process slimming down their chances of them ever starting to ongoingly invest. This is because everyday person will have something new to learn and learn and research about especially is place as security, picking the right wallet etc, till days continues to pass by.  And that is why it is good to take that bold step to buy.
If we must be honest with ourselves, you and I cannot comfortably invest into what we don't understand or what we barely know how it operates. Before investing into bitcoin, I did my own researches about it and got some level of conviction that the project is real and valuable. I also ask anyone I bring into bitcoin to do their research and ensure they want to invest and not doing that because I asked them to.

The problem is when newbies want to know everything about it, both the markets, charts, understand fully the technical side and all that which is not feasible within a limited time. After getting the basic knowledge, you can start buying and continue learning more about bitcoin while you remain in the markets.

We always advise newbies here to make research before going into any investment, so I don’t see how this person making a research is a problem. Yes you believe bitcoin is legit but not everyone believes so, some persons will still want to make personal research to confirm what ever thing they’ve heard to be sure they are on the right track, which is actually good to do and I think that will leave them more convinced.
Please research is very important because it broadens one’s knowledge about a particular thing and helps them understand more.

No need for the trivialities.
You both are making fair points, but empathizing different sides of the same discussion.

Of course research is good, especially if the person is a newbie and still trying to acquire basic understanding about bitcoin. So in this kind of instance, it would not be a smart move to just jump in blindly without first getting conviction all because “it’s bitcoin”.

But at the same time too, bitcoin is not just some random coin that needs the same level of “ is this even real” scrutiny like most of the other new shitcoins out there now.

Bitcoin has had a long public track record, clear rules and a price history that is an evidence of its growth and survival since 2009 so if you continue to treat bitcoin like some unproven project, it will get to a point where it might begin to seem like you’re just stalling your investment journey and not that you’re being diligent.

A simple approach is to get the foundational knowledge first, things like: how it works, the supply rules, the risks, the long term thesis, then you can now size it according to your own personal predicament and start your ongoing investment ASAP; then you can keep learning while you’re already in.

Making research should not be an excuse for you to stay on the sidelines and price history alone too should not be a substitute for understanding what you’re holding.

Balance is key folks.

It will always be funny when someone is still asking about the legitimacy of Bitcoin at this stage or in this Era that we are, anyone that is still doubting or asking about the legitimacy of Bitcoin will be liken to those folks who doubted Bitcoin when it first came into existence. Bitcoin has proven to be a great asset if we check from the past of it till this very moment and I have realized it is those that are or will be able to hold for a long time will benefit from this asset the most.

All what you mentioned are not relevant for a brand new investor to start his bitcoin investment. All he needs to do is to figure out if he has discretionary income and know where to buy his bitcoin from which is an exchange. He can buy first and start learning to know every other aspect of bitcoin and those things you mentioned in order to build his confidence as he gain more experience from the market through his regular ongoing buying of bitcoin.

We have a lot of slow learners and trying to learn what you call basic can take a lot of time before they will understand but if they have started, it's easy to learn by practical and understand. Newbies should start investing the moment they have figured out their discretionary income and grow their bitcoin investment and they learn at the same time overtime. There is no need wasting anymore time.

Those who say that Bitcoin is not legitimate and those who stay away from Bitcoin investment are actually making an excuse not to invest. What do you do about legitimacy? You deposit Bitcoin like you do, keep it secret, that is enough. You hold it for the long term like you do, there is a very good chance of success in holding it for the long term. Bitcoin is a very possible investment for the future. So hold it, if you want success from it. But if you really do not want to invest in Bitcoin, then you will have no shortage of excuses.

The major reason why many people don't really fancy Bitcoin is because they can wait to hold it till it gives them better profit in future.

The fact is that , someone can start investing in bitcoin even if they don't know everything about bitcoin. The idea of wanting to be an expert before starting can sometimes leads to procrastination. A beginner should start small and learn as they continue accumulating bitcoin, this will help to enhance their learning  progress since they will be learning through practical. The most crucial thing is to start with a smaller amount of discretionary income and continue learning while still ongoing with bitcoin accumulation.

There is even no way for someone to become an expert in something they are not doing, getting knowledge is one thing, actually becoming a bitcoin investor is another and it is pointless to have sll that knowledge about bitcoin investment if you are not investing in bitcoin. Knowledge is important but let's not make the mistake of thinking knowledge about bitcoin investment is more important than the bitcoin investment itself.

Apart from the older generations we can all agree that the younger generation knows a lot about things they probably aren't even involved in, you can run a survey asking people who aren't investing or even trading about bitcoin and they will still be able to give you a good explanation of what bitcoin is, it won't be the best explanation but it will be better then nothing.
If we talk about investing in bitcoin then it will be easy for these people to invest, they probably already know how to buy, might be behind on the wallet of choice but that's not a must for someone who wants to start investing in bitcoin, the only other important thing they need to figure out is that they should invest only with their discretionary income, once that's been figured out they can start buying bitcoin.

In reality, it is more important to start investing earlier. You should not delay in starting investing. Moreover, studying a subject does not make you skilled in that subject, but real experience is equally important, and this is why if you actually invest in Bitcoin, then through this real experience you will be able to know Bitcoin better. Moreover, the most correct decision in the case of Bitcoin investment is to start investing earlier, if you cannot start investing at all, then there will be no benefit in gaining knowledge through this type of study. And so you should gain general knowledge, and start investing by applying this general knowledge in practice. If you do not start investing, then discussing Bitcoin for years, analyzing it, and predicting the future, these will not be of any use to you.

Well most folks chose not to listen, so definitely experience is the only thing that can make them realise their losses. That said the concept of listening to everything you hear on social media YouTube, X, and the rest is not bad what is bad is when you listen and you fail to do proper research to confirm your knowledge about it .Unfortunately to me when it comes to one's finances management in investment I believe it is only there to help you figure out when to buy and your behaviour control tells you when not to. So it's easy to say they both work together and failure to control them will lead to one's investment turning into a gamble...

Overall I can't say your friend learnt his lesson no that would be wrong. He simply went through experience and that experience gave him knowledge. It's up to him to make use of it. So yeah it was his decision anyways and the best thing about the market is that it tends to favour those who are patient with their investment... that's just it...

I completely agree with you , most times lessons thought people to recovered from their mistakes, carelessness, and also overaiming can make you lose control and when you lose control is becoming gambling...The more you keep an eye on the market that's the more you know how it works, everything normally works with time and patient. The time you spend watching the market that's the more you know when is good to buy and hold.

Sure starting early can make a huge difference, most especially because investing is something you learn not only through theory but you also practicalise it and you have experience about it but then i think there has to be a kind balance between learning and investing it self we don’t actually need to know everything before starting, but at least we should have a better understanding on what we are putting our money into and the risks involved.

Absolutely, beginning very early in Bitcoin is really a good idea there's a parable that's says who that goes to market early shall purchase the things that is meaningful than people that comes very late all they will be seeing is things that people have already rejected for them to see good things to buy will be very hard because people that comes early have gotten all good once, what are my saying is starting Bitcoin investment early when price Bitcoin  still low is never a bad idea this is time  one needs to investment because Bitcoin is volatile you might wakeup one morning I heard that Bitcoin have rise up to $100 it be so rewarding when you in invest early, time doesn't wait for anybody.
