Bitcofin is not banned in my country. Bitcoin is taxed in my country. The government in my country does not against bitcoin to be used in purchasing but people are not just using it but they prefer using fiat. Yes we can trade bitcoin freely in my country but bitcoin tax has to be paid.
I think for my country, the government's stand on bitcoin status is more about control rather than rejection. The government is aware of how strong the level of adoption of bitcoin is in my country among young people so they know it will be almost impossible for them to ban people from using it so instead of fighting it directly they are finding ways to regulate it. The government have tried to ban it and restrict people from using it in the past bit people still found their ways to use it and that became obvious to the government how strongly rooted it is among the grassrootd level. I know as time goes on the government might come to accept it fully in my country and if that should happen, the use of bitcoin in my country will go substantially.

It turns out that my assumptions about crypto regulations there have been wrong all along. I had always thought that the Nigerian government was quite friendly towards cryptocurrency. this is because usually, When there is an increase in interest from the citizens of a country, it will encourage the government to also take an interest by conducting more in-depth research and adapting to the needs of its citizens with clear regulations that benefit both parties. honestly, I was surprised to hear this. although I know it's not as friendly there as it is here, I didn't realize it was stricter than I had imagined. In Indonesia, everything feels more welcoming. Even our vice president is young and often talks about digital assets, including cryptocurrency. Although there haven't been any specific steps taken yet, the current regulations can still be considered beneficial for all parties.

Is there a Bitcoin ban in your country? What is the government's stance? Are there taxes, are there strict regulations? Can you use Bitcoin for purchases? Can you trade crypto-currencies freely? If there are bans in your country, is there an opposition party or leader that promises to lift them? If there are bans, do you still vote for the government because you like their other policies? Or would you vote for an opposition that has a positive view of Bitcoin? Let me hear your thoughts and don't forget to mention your country. Not really, there is no bitcoin ban here in Nigeria. This current government taxes every thing. No a lot strict regulations concerning the utilisation of Bitcoin. We just have hungry cops and feds forcing youngins into their phones and privacy to forcefully send out their coins. This has been curbed to an extent though. No such thing here at the moment. And oh yes, we can freely trade crypto. I would love to read comments from someone in the UK. I think they need more political representatives who champions the usage of bitcoin and ensures people's privacy. They don't have that and they rebuffed such conversations whenever engaged.

I am personally quite satisfied with the regulation of Bitcoin in my country precisely in Indonesia, although previously it had confusion in the government because it had entered into commodity assets and switched to financial assets, the person in charge had changed before but now it is clear that Bitcoin is one of the financial assets and the institutions that oversee it are in accordance with the regulations issued, even though it cannot be used as a means of payment it is not a problem because I can still use bitcoin as an investment asset, there is no tax on this asset at this time, it is quite calm for me because there is no need to report Bitcoin ownership every year like other assets.

Bitcoin is completely legal in my country and one can trade, mine or whatever they want but the problem is the central bank itself doesn't want people to use crypto because they know it is not good for the banking system so they are trying everything in their power to discourage people from using and also infleuncing the government to diuscourage with high tax rates, heavy strict KYC regulations and also not allowing crypto platforms that eay to operate with legal complications.

Not in any sense I am because there's no stance besides taxation on people that make money in bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. They're currently trying to ban all kinds of exchanges with the excuse that they're illegal and that they are supposedly a scam that can lead a lot of my countrymen to financial ruin when in reality it's just a senseless ban to make the people that can afford to get by just a little through trading on the side crippled by relying on their measly paycheck. I think I would never be satisfied as long as their corruption is prevalent in my country.

Bitcoin has not yet been recognized in our country. In fact, Bitcoin is banned here. The government can change its decisions at any time if it wants, but it believes that if ordinary people are allowed to use such facilities, a large amount of the country’s wealth could end up in the hands of foreigners. For this reason, our government has not recognized Bitcoin. However, I might be wrong—after all, I am not the government. I have only shared my personal understanding and opinion.

Let me hear your thoughts and don't forget to mention your country. This is good to Know. I am a Nigerian and I am not happy on the government stance of bitcoin. In 2021 February or March there about, the then government banned bitcoin in the country and stopped all the banks to stopped transacting with bitcoin. In 2022/2023 the ban was lifted and banks were accepting bitcoin and some of the key retail stores, like Iphone and Android Phone stores were accepting bitcoin as one of their payment method, and in 2023, the new government on ground had a feud with the Decentralized Exchanges in the country. And 2 of the Binance staff were arrested and in that process, the government stopped the use of bitcoin in the country and Banks stopped using and nobody mentioned it in their Bank statements and if any does. The person bank account will be blocked. However, we are using bitcoin secretly and not publicly. We don't mention it in any of the local transaction. And foe now, there is no shop or store that is publicly accepting bitcoin but if you ask them secretly, they accept.

Gladly bitcoin treaten well in my country even my government has starting to admit bitcoin as future asset and some government officials even encourage the people invest to bitcoin besides that some of success stories has appears from the people in my country who involved to crypto world for years that their stories have inspired many people to make bitcoin as important investment but there is a little problem about the status because my government have started to collect taxed but i think it's not a big deal and mostly the bitcoin users don't mind to that policy so, i am quite satisfied with my government about bitcoin regulation

Or would you vote for an opposition that has a positive view of Bitcoin? Let me hear your thoughts and don't forget to mention your country. There is no total ban on Bitcoin in my country, Indonesia, but there are restrictions that Bitcoin is only allowed as a tradable asset or what we call a commodity asset. We are not allowed to use Bitcoin as a means of payment. For me, since Bitcoin is not prohibited, we can still use Bitcoin as an investment asset. For those who trade Bitcoin, that is also possible. Recently, most of the Gen Z generation has begun to realize how they should position themselves with Bitcoin, and Bitcoin is no longer something foreign to us. Even people in remote villages are familiar with Bitcoin.

Prior to now in Nigeria before the new government came into seat in 2023, there was a big clamp down on cryptocurrencies and the government even warn banks not to trade anything relating to cryptocurrencies. You can’t even send money through a commercial bank and put any description relating to cryptocurrency, you’ll get punished for that wish you wished you never did. The new government hasn’t outrightly put an end to all that, but he has being lenient about cryptocurrencies even though he hasn’t said anything about his stance on it. I only know of one exchange currently which is KuCoin that charges government tax when sending out cryptocurrency, other exchanges haven’t emanated that, so if you’re not using KuCoin but other exchanges, you’re not charged extra asides from your transaction fees from the exchange. I’ll say crypto is still friendly to use in my country, but until the new government explicitly state out his stance on cryptocurrency, we are enjoying this moment as there are not strict sanctions or actions against those involved in cryptocurrency now. Bitcoin is not yet a legal tender here, but people are using it for transaction where the two parties agree to use that method for payment.

Government has always stood to protect Thier interest right from time but the good side with ours is that they are not too open that they are not on full acceptance of bitcoin. I'm I actually satisfied about their attitude towards bitcoin? Can't say a complete yes or no to it but however, what I can say is that in the long run, I'm hoping that they get to do better than they are currently doing now. If while they are not against bitcoin they are also of full support of it and aren't creating policies that are not favourable to bitcoin enthusiast, then I can outrightly say that their stand on bitcoin is a good thing to me and for that, I can ascert that I'm satisfied with their stand on bitcoin.

If there are bans in your country, is there an opposition party or leader that promises to lift them? If there are bans, do you still vote for the government because you like their other policies? Or would you vote for an opposition that has a positive view of Bitcoin? Let me hear your thoughts and don't forget to mention your country. The government in my country has had a fairly hands off approach but has certainly got stricter in the last 2-3 years. It seems like the financial, reporting and auditing framework is tightening up a lot now - they are forcing cooperation from exchanges which will result in a lot of previously unreported trades being seen. As long as you report your incoming and outgoing related to crypto then you should be ok with the tax authorities. Luckily avoided any sort of outright bans in the earlier years like some more authoritarian countries. I wouldn't vote for a government purely on crypto policies because like it or not, it still seems to be pretty fringe when compared to a lot more important governance topics.

I do like this kind of discussion because it's interesting and it shows how bitcoin in different countries or places has different meanings. As for my country Nigeria the government here has not banned it totally but they're the ones who have control over it, banks are not permitted to handle crypto directly but the people here still trade through P2P platform and you see crypto does not accept daily payments, like it's not that common to everyday payments and trading it, it's not illegal and again when it doesn't come to voting most persons still look for an issue. Despite the fact that any leader that is been supported or support crypto will surely gain attention.

It's not banned, it's not illegal, but it's also not legal or regulated. You can use exchange platforms, wallets, and do P2P trading and everything, but if you face a problem when doing a trade, and your account gets blocked or anything, you can't mention that you were doing P2P trading because banks will say that it's not legal and they will block your account if you are involved in cryptocurrencies. Just recently, the government formed a crypto council, but we haven't seen any changes as of now, maybe in the future. I have faced a lot of problems because of this, because when you make P2P trades sometimes, people send fraudulent payments, and then your account gets blocked due to a chain dispute initiated by those who got scammed and sent that money to someone initially, and when you approach the bank, they ask for proof about where the transaction came from, bring their identity or written statement or whatnot, and nothing happens, so you have to give up eventually. So, the situation about cryptocurrencies in our country is a bit complicated. I'm from Pakistan, by the way.

So far my view to my government related to bitcoin is not good but also not bad, because here bitcoin is legalized, but the focus of its function is for investment or trading, if you use bitcoin for payment then you can be fined. when it comes to crypto taxes, my country is strict about it, even if it's not that high, but every time you make a transaction you will be taxed. and the government's claims about protecting crypto users are also just nonsense because so far there are still so many fake crypto projects and the crackdown on them is still so low. and so many governments claim that they're going to boost this industry, but so far what they're doing is nothing more than collecting taxes.

Is there a Bitcoin ban in your country? There is no Bitcoin ban in my country. What is the government's stance? The government's stance sees Bitcoin as mode of payment. Are there taxes, are there strict regulations? Our government is still polishing the regulations for Bitcoin. There are proposals and plans for Bitcoin taxation but it was yet to be implemented. Can you use Bitcoin for purchases? Since Bitcoin is acknowledged by our government as mode of payment, we can use Bitcoin freely to purchase as long as there are merchants that has Bitcoin as payment option. Can you trade crypto-currencies freely? Yes, we can trade cryptocurrency freely in license exchanges.

Sounds like you are describing the situation in my country, or the EU. Crypto is completely legal here, but the "invisible" wall they are building around it is becoming impossible to ignore. In 2026, we have moved past the stage where they try to ban Bitcoin. They realized that doesnt work. Instead, they are just suffocating it with paperwork. Its a classic "if you cant beat them, choke them" strategy. As of 01 January 2026, all crypto platforms operating within the European Union will be required to report the name of each user as well as the amount of crypto that user has traded directly to the tax authorities. There is no longer privacy in this regard. There is no longer a need for the authorities to prove that someone owes tax; they can simply wait for the information to be submitted by the platform and then send a bill.

Bitcoin is illegal in my country, but even though Bitcoin is illegal, many people are secretly using Bitcoin. There is no pressure from the government, and there is no legal trouble. And there is no pressure from any leader or activist, so to speak, I am using Bitcoin freely in my area, although we cannot accept Bitcoin directly as money, we have to convert Bitcoin into local currency through P2P. But I definitely hope that my country will definitely recognize Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is definitely useful enough to move forward in the future and to move the country forward.

My government’s stands on Bitcoin have being unstable, you just don’t know where they stand on the matter and what might justify your case in any eventuality is how you plead it or prove the legitimacy of the funds.
In any case, I see them to play second class to what is being done in the world and would want to wait on other nations to show great progress before they could follow. While they seat back and wait on all that, the accumulation can continue to go on.
