No. the odds were not really helpful in determining the winner. Don't you forget how many bookies were in favor Garcia over Rolly, but Rolly came out as a winner. So it's telling the truth if result still unpredictable. There are numerous factors affected the result, and it's not only based on the odds.

As for Garcia vs Barrios, many overestimating Garcia to win it by KO, but who knows he will perform as bad as his fight against Rolly, then Barrios win it.  Grin

In general, that’s how it works, which is why we have odds for favorites and underdogs in the first place. But we also can’t deny that there are times when bookies don’t price things perfectly. That’s when you start seeing overvalued or undervalued odds.

Those odds don’t always represent the true chance of winning based purely on algorithms, a lot of it reflects how the public is betting since they’re the ones moving the lines. Oddsmakers are really just trying to balance the market and manage risk, not predict outcomes perfectly.

On the odds on this fight. Are the sportsbooks presently overestimating King Ry? We have witnessed how he has lost against Rolly Romero, also however, even if Barrios had a draw against Pacman, we have seen Barrios try to get the victory with all of his heart.

I speculate if Barrios will fight similarly against King Ry, we might witness a victory for Barrios. I am beginning to speculate that Joe Goosens might be the bringer of the winner on Barrios hehehe.

I feel the same way—the addition of Joe Goossen to Team Barrios is a major advantage for Mario Barrios, since Goossen already understands Ryan Garcia’s weaknesses. As I mentioned before, Barrios may have respected Manny Pacquiao too much in their fight, which made him overly hesitant; against a different opponent, he could have shown more. Personally, I see value in the bookmakers labeling Barrios as the underdog in this matchup, because I believe he actually has a stronger chance of defeating Garcia.

And most likely that's why they bring Goossen in the first place as they know that he used to train Ryan, so he is very familiar with Ryan's stay and Joe could have known what's Ryan weaknesses.

And it's all business, I remember the strength trainer of Manny Pacquiao before, he was removed by Roach and then he eventually move to Rios camp. So in this case, Barrios camp has the advantage already even before the bell rings.

It’s definitely the fans who are overestimating King Ry, sportsbooks wouldn’t list that kind of odds if it didn’t reflect what they actually believe. You’ll usually see a shift if fan expectations are really that different, because the line or odds would move, so the real question here is whether the opening odds and the current odds are still the same or barely moved at all. If that’s the case, then that pretty much tells you what the correct public perception is.

Agreed on the argument that Barrios might have very much respected Pacman hehehe. There were also some rumors that the fight had a script that should be followed and the script was a draw to not have the reputation of Pacman become broken.

On Pacman vs. Rolly Romero, are the negotiations finished? Have they agreed on the purse and the date? Also, will this have a script hehe.

If I'm not mistaken, the Pacquio vs Romero fight didn't materialized as Romero was mandated to fight his mandatory, so he was ordered by the WBA to face Shakhram Giyasov. And with that, fight is not happening. Maybe if Romero wins and Manny is available, then we might see this fight next year.

And come to think of it, even though Manny is old, it seems that all roads lead to him. Ryan Garcia has been targeting Manny as well so maybe if he also wins here then perhaps him and Manny can fight as well this year.

I am not surprised on this, Manny might be old but still a big fish and a good addition to anyones card. We cant blame the young ones as PACMAN is getting old but the talent remain in the ring.
But, Everyone should take care and be careful as the old man can still punch to KO anyone.

You're right, as what we say, Manny is still the sweepstakes for this young boxers as fighting him will netted their biggest paycheck so it make sense for them to call out Manny despite the legends old age. Garcia is the favorite here, but then again, there could be a lot of factors as he lost his previous fights against Rolly Romero.

I will just give the benefit of the doubt on Garcia losing that fight because he has been out of the ring for a year because of his suspension. And I see Ryan's supporters claiming  that is the issue with him, ring rust. So this time, it might be a different kind of Ryan that we will witnessed and go for a big win against Barrios.

You’re absolutely right—the planned Manny Pacquiao vs. Rolando Romero fight didn’t materialize because Shakhram Giyasov, the long-time mandatory challenger for that belt, refused to step aside. What’s puzzling, though, is that even after several weeks, the Romero vs. Giyasov bout has still not been officially announced.

That’s why the upcoming Garcia vs. Barrios fight is crucial for Garcia. A victory could very well secure him a shot at Pacquiao. He needs to approach this matchup with maturity and focus, making sure not to underestimate Barrios or take the fight lightly.

Maybe it’s because the promoters couldn’t really secure a solid profit from this one, especially since Giyasov isn’t that popular with casual fans. If Romero had managed to fight Manny Pacquiao without any issues, that would’ve easily been the biggest paycheck of his career. But for now, let’s just wait and see, maybe it happens this year or next year, whoever comes first, as long as Manny can still compete at a high level.

That’s why the upcoming Garcia vs. Barrios fight is crucial for Garcia. A victory could very well secure him a shot at Pacquiao.

Of course, but for that to happen, Ryan Garcia actually has to beat a champion first. That’s easier said than done, but if he really trains hard and takes it seriously, it’s still possible. Lately though, Ryan feels more like hype than substance, he’s always been good at marketing himself, but his recent fights don’t really look like the version we saw during his prime. So maybe it’s time to really test that skill again and prove it in the ring, start by beating the weakest champion in his division and go from there.

If King Ry will be mentioning Pacman and he will issue a challenge, I very much wish King Ry will be the winner! I very much wish I very much wish heheheheherheh!

This will certainly be a business loss for Rolly Romero, I reckon. If I was on the team of Rolly, I will offer part of Rolly's purse on the fight against Pacman to give for this Shakhram to step aside.

He should probably start from beating himself. He's fast becoming a nuisance in the sport. If he doesn't change from here, he'd end up fighting Youtubers pretty soon. But he's got a good market. He'll still earn some nice paycheck. It's probably only his popularity that makes him the favorite in this fight.

But this match against Mario is his opportunity, perhaps even if he doesn't really deserve it. I hope he's realized his lessons. If not, I don't see why he'd be doing his best and do it honestly when he failed to even make weight against Haney in a much bigger break.

Yes, most likely that's what keeping Ryan still in the business of boxing. He is marketable at to this point. He knows how to create hype on his fight because of his loud and trash talking mouth. But at the end of the day, if he is going to lose again, maybe fans aren't going to buy his next fight regardless on how he promote it. Although there could still be plan B for him as what you have said, fighting the likes of the Paul brothers for another great paycheck.

It's really up to him to make that decision in his chosen career. If his mentality is to become a great boxer or at least a good one, then he should take this fight seriously and win by like a knockout to bring more hype on his name and probably had a rematch with Haney to be the biggest fight and for the money.

It feels like winning isn’t really his main target anymore, what he’s focused on now is keeping the money coming in. Even if he loses, as long as he stays popular, he can still dictate the terms because people will keep watching him. That said, this fight is still big since it’s a championship bout, and honestly this is his best chance to get back on track.

The more hype he builds from here, the more leverage he gets. Just imagine if he ends up fighting Manny Pacquiao with all that hype behind him, that would easily turn into a massive fight.

The model of staying popular and not achieving technical success is actually a rare occurrence and, in fact, the stream of revenue now depends on the power of social media even more. You are correct that such a title match is a decisive moment in his life to demonstrate that he has the ability to be as winning and reclaim his dwindling professional stature.

We should take note that the possibility of a big war against a legend such as Pacquiao will only be possible once we are able to sustain the force of publicity via a consistently dramatic storyline that is created with the advantage of the modern global business.

It’s not really hard anymore since Manny Pacquiao is a global icon and Ryan Garcia also has a big name on his own. Obviously Manny will be the one dictating the money side of things, but there’s no doubt this fight would generate massive revenue. When it’s Manny’s fight, everything just feels easier, the promoters know exactly how to market it, build the hype, and make it a huge event.

It's really up to the fans, on whether they are going to support Ryan even if he losses this fight. We haven't seen this kind of model as you have said. It very rare and maybe Ryan has that combination of good looks and can carry the fight before it actually happens as he can put hype on it.

We should take note that the possibility of a big war against a legend such as Pacquiao will only be possible once we are able to sustain the force of publicity via a consistently dramatic storyline that is created with the advantage of the modern global business.

Yes, there is still weight if the fight happens, Manny is a global icon, and everything that involves his name became successful. Even in his last exhibition fights, we can see that there are fans willing so show in the arena.

What do you think of this fight guys?
As long as I watch boxing, most of the people who are too ambitious, emotional, arrogant and who talk a lot of nonsense are the ones who get knocked out. There has been a lot of discussion in various media. Ryan Garcia has sent threats to Mario Barrios, where Garcia is confident and optimistic that he will KO Barrios, I think it's a joke and a bad idea, Barrios is not a hometown boxer, he has had a brilliant career in the boxing arena.

I applaud Mario Barrios for calling out the nonsense that Garcia was throwing at him, he was really relaxed and not rash and not emotionally provoked in responding to his opponent's chatter.

I am sure that on February 21, Barrios will prove that he will break his opponent's chatter in the ring and prove that Barrios is truly a boxer who has a good career ahead.
