I don't know what OP is looking for in gambling when you know you have high blood pressure. I don't think stroke or any illness might even come when you don't listen to advice of the doctors, he might just one day collapsed and have no life to live again. There is nothing in gambling, if at all he is gambling for fun, he need to stop and I doubt if he is playing for fun, the fun doesn't brings emotions and all that, it's the money involved in gambling that makes people emotional and all that.

With a BP of 180 over 190, you should have rushed your friend to the hospital.  Forget about advising him about gambling, it is an emergency case, they may be look normal but if not treated, it can end up badly.
