OK, the main thing is that the problem has been sorted out, even though I didn’t make any changes. We’ll still need to look into the issue, though; it might happen again, and to other users as well. But for now, that’s fine. If it does happen again, please check the console and see if there are any errors.
Yeah, what matters the most is that it's working as it's supposed to be, and as long as that happens I don't care much. It's probably due to some other userscripts or extension I was using from other devs, but as I already said it's gone now. No glitch, no bug, no miscalculations. As for the console thing, I did checked, and didn't see any scary stuff (warnings/errors) or anything. All right then! False alarm xD The tool is still working as it should, and I can see your score has gone up again, so the system is up and running. My score, on the other hand, is going down! Clearly I’m not putting in the effort I should be; I’ll try to do better.

You have been quite successful at racking up merits, with good contributions to the forum and some innovation. Now, it's time to keep pushing and to continue the streak. Streaking is difficult! Keeping the level high means constantly chasing the frontier, not just touching it once.

A quick update on BRDb scores and the userscript There is now a section for notifications. On the profile page, you’ll find the ‘Notifications’ tab, which currently shows the Merits you send or receive and the new posts you write; later on, I’ll try to include quotes as well On the leaderboard page, you’ll find the Live Feed button, which will show you what’s been happening on the forum recently In the userscript, you can view notifications by clicking on your score and then on the bell icon This way, you’ll be able to see notifications directly whilst browsing the forum. You’ll need to update the userscript, which can be found on the first page of this thread

Well, my previous post probably triggered the beast in you, and you worked that beauty overnight. Very nice update. A good complement to the @tryninja Telegram Bot when you are not on mobile.

I won’t hide the fact that your post has sped things up; I was already working on it in stages due to time constraints, and in fact not all the features have been implemented yet. I’ll also be adding notifications for quotes later on, but I’ll need to modify the scraper so it reads the full post text as well; at the moment it only uses the post title, so it’s impossible to get results for quotes.

There is now a section for notifications.
It looks good but I think you should add some small changes to confirm users clicked the button. Results are showing a bit slower so I clicked several times until I realized something was processed in the background. Maybe adding spinning icon or small textual message would be a good idea.

You’re right, unfortunately the button redirects to a new page and has to load data from the database, and I don’t know why it isn’t completely instantaneous – perhaps the server is slow to begin with, but I’m not entirely sure. I’ll see what I can come up with over the next few days, although it should be clear that the page is loading data after clicking the button. I also need to add quotes to the posts to get a complete overview of forum activity.

A quick update on BRDb scores and the userscript There is now a section for notifications. snip... Hey ace a quick feedback... So the activity feed works, but it kinda feels a slower to me. When I clicked that bell icon, it was a blackbox for like 10 seconds, and then the log appeared. And no, it's not a first time slowness. Everytime I clicked it, I would have to wait. Then "back to profile" button (had to click multiple times), leaderboard (seems to be lagging behind), notifications (broken, not working from my end). The point, every button's responses feels slower. Btw, I believe I'm on the latest build.

You’re not the first person to mention this kind of slowdown, but to be honest, I don’t understand where the problem lies. On my devices, the response comes within 3 seconds. I suspect it might be an issue with the Cloudflare server, but I’ll look into it further. The only slowdown I’ve noticed is in the global live feed, but not in the notifications.

It would be great if we could all get a notification every time we receive a Merit or a quote, just like the Telegram bot. Just think – it could become an incredibly useful tool for everyone.

After a few days of using this, I definitely like this update. As I said, it's a good complement to the Tryninja Telegram bot. When you are at the desktop, it is nice to have notification of forum activity, as the telegram bot is a little bit harder to reach nd doesn't interrupt the flow of thoughts while locked in forum activity. You are evolving your Tool in a series of good directions, *Ace*, well done!

Hello there, just updated tool to check what's new and I have few things to say: On my profile page there is badge of 'Merit source' [1.1] which I am not and never been, so wondering what's that for? It would be nice if, 'i' icon is given beside badge(s) which shows information of what particular badge is for and why is 'gambling discussion' mentioned twice here [1.2]? — I assume this for most active boards of mine but why twice? ...and when I click on this posts [2] having sent merits to or received to, instead of being redirected to relevant posts, the links redirect to this post — what's up? On most recent merit received transaction link is fine (feeling lazy to post video, but if you need it, let me know). Edit: what's timeframe of stats shown in activity feed?

[1] https://talkimg.com/image/UrpDlW [2] https://talkimg.com/image/UrpejCThese are obvious bugs. But strangely enough, I can’t see them in your notifications! In fact, I’ve checked them one by one and they work perfectly; I don’t understand why yours are showing something different. As for the merit badge, I’ve figured out where the problem lies and will fix it soon; unfortunately, I’m busy at the moment and the new features are still in the experimental phase.

Come on mate, if it makes you feel any better, all the changes you’ve made recently are working perfectly; the notifications are lightning-fast – sorry, I call them notifications, but no pop-ups are showing up yet – but it’s really useful to have something that alerts you in real time about what’s going on.

The problem is that some users aren’t seeing the notifications as they should, and I don’t understand why. Perhaps the worker is sending too many requests, causing everything to crash? Or perhaps the worker isn’t retrieving the correct data. I need to go back and check the code to see what’s wrong.

Hey @ACE, great work. I really like your userscript. I am using it, which makes me happy. I have to appreciate your work. Well done @ACE! The problem is that some users aren’t seeing the notifications as they should, and I don’t understand why. -snip-
I have reviewed your userscript code and made some observations regarding the notification issue. I think the problem may not be with the notification button or panel, but rather with the data queueing and backend processing flow. The current flow is: 1. Thread page loads. 2. Script fetchFromWorker(uid) finds user in D1 database. 3. If user is not found: Shows showPendingBadge(), Calls enqueueUid(uid) The problem is, if the same user posts multiple times in a thread, then theoretically the same UID can be enqueued multiple times. Example: Let's say User #123 has made 15 posts in a thread. First post: enqueueUid(123) Second post: enqueueUid(123) Third post: enqueueUid(123) Thus, if the backend does not perform duplicate filtering, the same UID can enter the queue repeatedly. This can result in: Queue growing unnecessarily, Processing delay, Notification generation delay, Some notifications getting skipped, Worker rate limit being hit. I would suggest adding client-side deduplication before enqueueing. Example: const queuedUsers = new Set(); function enqueueUid(uid) { if (queuedUsers.has(uid)) { return; }
queuedUsers.add(uid); GM_xmlhttpRequest({ method: 'POST', url: `${WORKER}/enqueue`, headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json' }, data: JSON.stringify({ uid }) }); }
This will prevent a UID from being queued more than once in the same page session. Another thing I noticed: Currently, if fetchFromWorker() fails, the script directly returns null. onerror: () => resolve(null) That is, even if there is a network timeout, Cloudflare issue, or temporary worker failure, the script assumes the user is not in the database. This can also be the reason for creating duplicate queues. I would recommend adding retry logic. For example: 1st request fails retry after 2 seconds if it fails again then retry if it fails 3 times then only return null This will not disrupt the temporary network issue notification flow.

Thanks for your hard work, I find this tool useful even though right now many bugs are remaining I hope you will make this tool highly useful by solving them. When i check my profile it shows recent activity currently maybe scrapper always scrapping new post data but for some reason it isn't showing my local board, Maybe it's still didn't get full data of every users. I hope it will fixed automatically when it finishes scrapping old data. I believe making your own data server is the right move, other users API maybe useful but it may crash when high load happens in data servers. Keep fixing until you get a perfect result.

Thank you all for your advice and feedback. I should have a bit of time tomorrow evening, and I think I’ll get round to modifying the code for both the worker and the userscript. I hope to sort the problem out once and for all. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time, but I’ll try not to take the service offline.

=====Update=====
I think I’ve sorted out the notifications panel. I can’t spot any errors in the worker myself, but I’d really appreciate your feedback on this. I’ve now added quotes as well, so from now on you’ll see a notification in the ‘Notifications’ tab whenever someone replies to your posts. At the moment, it only handles quotes; tags and mentions aren’t available yet, but I’ll try to implement them later on.
