What are the chances of football being scripted?

When it comes to the top league in the world, the chance for a game being scripted is almost never exist. Think about this "would top league ruined their reputation just to scripted the game?" It's enough to answer your question if scripti is not possible to happen at the big league. You seem feel gutted with the way MU beat City just after they had poor performances in the previous games, but mine as City fan accepted the lost. They obviously play better than City. They are much more direct and on point.

It's way better instead of having big possession but unable to score. So many factors matter to determine the game, and judge the result being scripted is a baseless argument for sure.

The other issue, speccialy here in Brazil... I see the players' own desire to want a different coach. It is not uncommon for players to play with less enthusiasm when they no longer like a coach.... they do this intentionally so that the management will change the coach and then when that happens, the players "return to normal" and play with all their dedication again.

Another reason might be that players want to impress the new coach so that they can have a place in his formation or squad. So they tend to give their best in the first game to show the coach that they are good enough to be in his selection.

If these players are intentionally underperforming it would affect their rating and worth in the transfer market. Some desperate players might not care about these effects because they want a coach out.

The amount of money needed to actually pull something like this off makes just letting the matches play out their own way even more easier, it's just too expensive for anyone to bother with, I'm not even saying that it's possible but if at all it happens then it would be on way smaller leagues since they will be easier to manipulate as the payoff for losing a match might be better than what ever they might get from winning that match or even the entire league but still that's way too much money being spent for the wrong reasons.

For those who actually do give their time to watch football games, you can at least relate to what I'm about to say.
It's becoming a norm that after a club sacks their coach they tend to play better than their previous games especially in the first game after which the coach was sacked. Now this is where it gets even interesting, the players are basically the same persons who have been in the team throughout those loosing days, with probably same formation.
Today Manchester united did same thing with 3 disqualified goals and a lead of 2-null against Manchester City, considering their previous form it's enough to be wowed at.

What are your thoughts on this?

Top matches in top leagues among top teams aren't scripted, I'm 100% confident about that, because you can watch the match yourself and be sure about that. The way players play and try their best to use every moment to score a goal or defend the net is on another level. Players have a huge salary, they are also in competition against each other, clubs also generate lots of money, there is no need to sacrifice the reputation, built over centuries, just for a few million dollars, which you can easily earn within days or hours. I also think that 99.9% of matches in top leagues aren't scripted, maybe even 100%, because if they are scripted, those behind the scenes will spend lots of time in prison.

What are your thoughts on this?

It requires a lot of players, coaching staff and referees participation to make it scripted unlike single person sports that easy to manipulate even with 1 player alone.

I doubt for a scripted that can happened on football especially on popular league but there’s a potential for this small league especially if both teams nave connections to each other.

There’s an instances in the basketball league in my country that competing in the finals are both owned by same companies so the result is always a game 7 series which is always branded as scripted to prolong the game for more exposure.

Maybe they have this crazy fantasies that someone can rigged the game and they can ride with those people can manipulate the result then earn lots of money with this.

But unfortunately those situation will remain a dream especially if they are looking at top leagues since for sure they value reputation and fairness of each result they show. Fans would provably get more entertained for showing fairness rather than providing manipulative results on each match plays.

So with all those things you have said, there's no need for them to ride with those dubious act, because all players is earning huge fortune on the sports they love to play.

There is a chance that referees are paid by clubs to close an eye on some faults and be strict with the opposite team, that happens but the chance of two clubs fixing a match, in leagues like La Liga, Premier League and so on, is none. Can you imagine FC Barcelona and Real Madrid fixing the match? Or Man Utd and Man City? Football matches will be scripted in unknown or barely known leagues but not in the most popular leagues. I mean, when you have player like Messi and CRonaldo, how can you script the football? They score goals like a machine. There is nothing that can nerf Messi You can't script that.

for me I don’t think football is literally scripted like WWE but there’s definitely psychology & pressure at play when a coach gets sacked players suddenly feel exposed no more excuses, everyone knows they’re being watched closely by the board, fans & the incoming manager so effort level goes up automatically so yeah not scripted in my opinion but football is very emotional & momentum based, confidence alone can make average performances look elite overnight that’s what makes the game beautiful & frustrating at the same time just my take.

The chances are low... Very very low.. it may not be impossible but it's highly unlikely. For a show like WWE, you'll know that it is scripted, it may be subtle but it will show. How ever for a game of football. The shear drive and passion alone that players execute on the field is something that can't be described. Why do you think the WWE do not have so much endorsements as much as other genuine sports.. these big companies will not spend millions of dollars just for some put up show.
Fir competitions like the world cup how do you manage something of that scale to be scripted.. how do you plan the winning and the losing. Luke I said it is possible but the chances are slim. From what we've seen in the past how dedicated players are, how players died on the pitch, how players have lifelong injury for something they believe in.. the pure skill of ball control... Mehn those things are not what you get scripted
