Yes you are right, however I will like you to put it very well because getting a job after graduation is very easy what is hard to get is a good well paying job, we have a lot of jobs that are paying very small amount of money but those jobs that are paying good about of money are very difficult to see or get and they are very few.
To escape being jobless after graduation is to have a skill and be creative try to always solve a world or society problem, in our society or in the world we have a lot of issues that needs solutions and when you fine the solution people will pay you for your services, this is what a wise man told me and when I started applying this I started making money. Fine a problem and solve it and see your life turn around for good.
Yeah, there's a lot of work going on in the country but the salaries can not afford to pay your bills, it's a pity to see that someone would graduate from school and start surfering from were to get a good job because this is so common in my place. Of course graduation doesn't waste time but how to get a well pay job is the challenges that many graduate are facing, which is why we don't need to rely on one place because skills are really easy to get a good paying job than any anything else because everything worked with connection.

Honestly, even the amount of experience will not matter these days as what matters mostly is the connection you have with the owner of the company, or the heads or executives as they can put you a good word to the business owner, and make you as their top priority, thus neglecting those who are more suitable and capable to the job description. Its either you find ways for it, or just wait for your spot, but that would take months or even a year before you'll be noticed and get hired.

Having many work experience filled on your CV doesn't guaranteed to have a job in most place, most time it could be that someone was fired due to their poor performance and when they get hired at their new jobs and they weren't to do well they could still get fired. At least I have worked with few construction company, what they look is your ability to deliver the job within the stipulate time frame you were given the job. Speed and accuracy matters a lot. When there is no excellent touch in what you do or not applying professionalism then there are possibility that you would get fired when there is redundancy in the company probably they don't feel your input anymore.

I noticed a lot of graduates finding it hard to find a job even after some time of graduation. They now have degrees but they can't seem to penetrate the workforce. It is not just about what you finished. A bachelor's degree is simply a title to show that you have some adequate knowledge and to some extent training in that particular field but what most graduates lack is experience. Students who were able to get part-time jobs even while studying have a more well rounded CV. Even if the part-time job is not exactly aligned with what you studied, you can still highlight the skills that you can use for the job you are applying for.

An impressive and a well rounded resume will get you a job.
It is not enough to have a bachelor's degree, you must have experience and skills. Many people are sitting with a bachelor's degree but they are not making any effort on their own. If every person tries on their own, they can definitely find a good job with experience and skills. However, to move forward in life, both education and experience are needed. If we do not have education, we cannot get a job, and it is not enough to have just education. Of course, we must have a job. If we can get a good job, then it is possible to organize our life beautifully. So every person has to try on their own and earn a higher degree. If a higher degree can be earned, then it is definitely possible to get a good job with their own efforts and skills.

If you don't really have connections, you will always find it hard to get a job that can be paying you well and pays your bills. Getting job is hard but is good to be educated and start doing business anytime opportunity comes you can used your credentials and get but we shouldn't be depending on government jobs we should work hand and look for alternatives, so that if this one didn't work another one will possible works.

Yeah, we really should not be looking towards or relying heavily on the government to provide jobs in the civil service. Also, the government cannot possibly employ everyone. What they can and ought to do is to create an enabling and suitable environment for anyone looking to do business. That way, there would be more corporations, looking for a raw and untapped market, would gladly seek to do business, bringing employment opportunities for lots of people along with them.
The private sector is likely the biggest employer of labor as it employs a great number of people, hence the urgent need for government to create policies that bring about suitable business environment

It's not hard to find a job, landing one is. Obviously, fresh graduates lacks experience, that's why OJTs are important. A well rounded CV does not guarantee you get the job, being 101% ready for the job interview will get you more chances landing the job. Being that ready, means you study everything about the company to demonstrate how your knowledge and skills able to contribute to the company.
What I noticed today, at least here in our place, is that, most fresh graduates are just too complacent when finding a job. They only present their resume, school credentials, and be physically presentable, but that's just about all, that's their definition of being 100% ready to get the job, and that is why most of them find it difficult to land one.

Skills + college degree is usually enough to land one but the important question isn't how to get one, it is do you actually need one? Nowadays you can spend your money to educate yourself instead of paying for a college education and start your own business instead of becoming an employee. College education usually don't teach you how to start a business, they teach you how become a good employee and once you learn that, it is hard to unlearn it. I have dozens of friends who can't let go of their white collar job because they don't know what todo once they do, they don't know where to start. So, not becoming an employee is not a bug, not a mistake, it is a feature.
I grow up thinking that once you land a good job after graduation, that would end all my financial struggles. But having a job, either through your skills or just simply connection, is not enough yet to change a one person's life. You need to invest or start a business if possible because that's where big money is.

However, for fresh graduates, just look for a table job first before going on investment. Develop your skills and be an asset in your desired company, and not to mention create some silent moves so you can be recognized in your desired company, just to build a positive image since you're still having your application.

I agree with you that most employers now are more interested in skills and work experience than your degrees, they prefer productivity. Your ability to deliver on the task given to you is more important for employers that needs your experience to get their work done for them.

A lot of graduates are roaming the streets with their CV while those with skills and experiences are getting the jobs. Many people are creating jobs for themselves with their skills and experience, some are hired as staff or they work on contractor to perform tasks and they get paid. The reality of this present day is that skills either formal or informal are getting jobs done than relying only on certificates which are mostly theory based. School is very important but to survive today you need multiple skills.

Both are needed to get a job. You need a degree as well as your skills. When you graduate from a university with good results, your results and certificates prove that you have studied with sufficient discipline. Which will make you eligible to submit your CV for various jobs. Later, your job will be based on the type of skills you have. If a company cannot make a profit from you, it will never give you a job or will not keep you in the job for long. That is why both degree and skills are needed to get a job. But skills are more important to create a good position for yourself there after getting a job.
Of course education and skills are required to get a job because most of them give jobs as degrees but I have seen enough. If you do not have a degree you can join a company because of someones reference but still you should have the ability so that your in company has your quality. nowadays most people leave jobs and do business. You have to follow every law in a job.Nowadays there are many ways to find jobs.Through social media through Facebook groups and apply on the companys website as much as possible.

The paradox is that many employers demand experience from applicants. And they don't care that the person applying is a student who has no experience whatsoever. And of course, the employer will hire anyone else with any experience.
Therefore, such students always have to start with poor companies, usually unsuccessful ones and government ones, where salaries are miserable, and then accumulate experience over the years. A few years at such a company, and then the former student will have real experience, which will allow them to apply for a better job, since they will already have at least some experience. Many start out this difficult way.

It is true that just having a lot of experience on your CV does not guarantee that you will get a job. However many times the problem lies not only in the skills of the employee but also in the work environment. It takes time to adapt to a new place but many companies do not want to give that time, then even experienced people get under pressure and make mistakes. I think that in addition to skills, companies should provide employees with opportunities to learn and clear instructions then performance will naturally improve.

This depends on your skillset and how you can market yourself.

It is no easy, I know. The initial grind is the toughest. Better to talk to seniors in your line of work and try to find out how they managed, heck even someone of them might be in a position to offer and apprenticeship.
it’s always hard when we’re still starting out but we should really remind ourselves that when we’re starting out we will always start from the bottom and it will take a lot of grit and hard work to reach where we want to be and eventually climb up the career ladder

In getting a job, first of all you need a good certificate, this helps you get the attention of the employers, and then the next thing they’ll most likely be interested in is the number of years or experience in tha field. Regardless of how good your papers are, not everyone would wanna hire a complete field newbie to who has no practical experience or knowledge in what they’re meant to do.
Sometimes there are companies looking for workers who are experts, proficient or have good experience in a field. This aims to strengthen the company because there may be workers who are experts but they will leave the company either by moving companies or quitting.

And not a few companies also open job vacancies for beginners but usually this is more difficult in terms of requirements, moreover there is usually a training session first so we work for some time but do not get a salary because it is to be assessed first how good we are at work.

There are only few reasons why a worker gets fired. It's either they've done something wrong and unacceptable that's against to company rules or, they're sizing down and needs to cut expenses through lay off.

But that's right, even you've got a bunch of experience still doesn't guarantee you job. Although it gives you better chance of being hired and the ability to work from what you're applying for based on the skills you are offering to what you're applying.

It also depends on the nature of your skill, if your skill is seasonal and you're only needed for some time. You have to upscale and add more skill that's needed for all seasons or all over the year.

Most company nowadays are looking for employees with many experience making the new graduates seeking for job minimal chance for them to be hired but even though it should not be sign to give up but to be motivated do upskill or become the best version of themselves to show that even though they have less experience because it is still the start of their career they can adapt to their demands.

An impressive and a well rounded resume will get you a job.

Your resume is just a piece of paper as well. Most companies don't rely on CV/resume to hire employees now, they focus more on what you are bringing to the table and not what you polish on your resume. The coming of AI has even made it easy to design a fine and impressive resume that you can not even defend. With this development, CV/resume is becoming a less relevant creteria companies consider in their recruitment process. As a fresh graduate, you need to equip yourself with relevant and diverse skills to get you ahead of other applicants. Impressive resume is not longer the way forward if you have nothing to offer other than polish grammar on paper.

I noticed a lot of graduates finding it hard to find a job even after some time of graduation. They now have degrees but they can't seem to penetrate the workforce. It is not just about what you finished. References can get you a job haha but a resume can be fake and not real because most of the time students and even professionals are writing anything on their resumes because mostly the companies don't check them, but many do, so don't think your tempered CV can give you a job without them noticing, sometimes they ignore too because they know haha.

Anyway, that's one thing but yup CV is important and without one, you can't get a job and whenever you are applying for a job, don't forget to change the CV accordingly, because you can't just send one format with the same information in it, to everywhere, haha that would be the dumbest thing.

it’s always hard when we’re still starting out but we should really remind ourselves that when we’re starting out we will always start from the bottom and it will take a lot of grit and hard work to reach where we want to be and eventually climb up the career ladder
Recommendation and good word of mouth always help. Hence maintain good PR with everyone around you, because you never know the person next door might just be a senior manager in some big company and being nice whenever you meet him might help you get a job in that company. These are emotional things you can manipulate, but takes time and effort to learn and master.

Nobody is going to hand out a job to you on a table, you have to be sneaky and catch hold of one.

What you are talking about depends on your country,  because in a country like Nigeria your excellent CV and wonderful grades is not even enough to get you are job. There are a lot graduates out there with good grades and wonderful CV that are still in the unemployment market. I think what's works for graduates in Nigeria is your connections, I am not saying that some people don't get the job on merit, but it's really difficult and I don't think the problem is just the CV. Sometimes you see a job opening and I will tell you for free that they have already selected those they want to employ, so the opening is just for formality.

Will the owner or the head of a company hire all his employees only based on connections and relationships and ruin his company? That doesn't happen all the time. It is true that people often use connections to get jobs, but a sensible person would always make sure that the jobs they are giving to people they are close to only because of the connection they have with them, those jobs don't usually have a big importance in the company, unless the person being referred is actually also worthy of the position since they have good knowledge, experience, and skills. Otherwise, they will only get an ordinary position.

Knowledge and experience are extremely important, because these are the things that will take you far. You might get a job if you use the reference of someone who knows the owner or head of the company you want to work in, but you won't go above that point, no promotions or anything, you will just have a source of income for who knows how long. On a contrary, someone who has knowledge and experience will always get priority when it comes to bonuses or promotions, because the company knows the value of good and useful employees.
