I'm so surprised by situations like this, because there are indeed people, like your friend, who aren't content with the money they might have earned. Some would call such courage to quit your job after winning from gambling is dangerous. Because no matter how big the winnings of gambling are, they can never give you certainty. I wonder if OP has any update on how this guy is doing? You know such a small amount of money could never last for very long and to your point even with 20k thats not enough to get you by long term either. Maybe his intentions were to get a fresh start and buy a months time to go and look for something better knowing full well that 3k would cover his bill and livelihood for a month or something while he finds something better? We have the freedom to have a clear head because of the certainty of incomes of a regular job, without constantly depending on the unpredictable results of trading. Your right in stating that there is the danger of the business failure and the way to prevent this is to have a good back up strategy to ensure that life goes on as usual. For sure that amount has been used again on gambling on which it is that pretty obvious that he would be that mainly thinking that he might be able to hit up some another win or 3k on which  this is the primary mindset or emotion into those who had been able to hit up specially newbies. On the moment that they had exhausted up their funds or winnings and they do already quit up their job then they would be able to realize on how fool they are at the time that they've been struggling when it comes to finances. This amount is never been that sustainable or something that you can say that it would be lasting a lifetime specially if you dont have other income source, even if we do say that you are living in a 3rd world country on which this amount is never been enough.
