Now that the leadership has changed, so will the stance on many things including economics. They could outright ban crypto in Venezuela if they wanted another storm but I doubt it. That being said, what will happen to the crypto purchases that were made during the previous govt? Stashed like they would if it was gold or other precious metals?

If there is Bitcoin, then it's a government property, the next government will take action on what to do.

By the way, where is the Bitcoin? It's has been speculation and talks, no evidence. Only USDT was linked to their crude oil sales and that has been seized by Tether company and the US government.

They used USDT as well as Bitcoin and there's speculation that Venezuela could be holding anywhere from $22 million in BTC to $60 billion in crypto". Those are crazy uncertain numbers but its all speculation. All we know is that the previous government was actively getting involved with Bitcoin and crypto in general, to avoid sanction and using USD for the sale of Venezuelan oil.

I believe the Venezuela government have a federal reserve, so whatever  Bitcoin they've bought should be in their federal reserve, the new commander in chief will simply take incharge. Maduro wasn't taken away with those asset's, so whatever that is remaining in the government Coffers should still be there, because governance is a continuous process. Asset's especially the one owned by government is not something that can easily go missing, there will be trace's else whoever that was put incharge to look after will definitely pay for it.

Maybe he thinks that because Maduro is no longer the president or maybe for now, that it is possible the coin will be sold. Rodríguez which is now the president since January 3rd 2026, but was the vice president since 2018 will still not do something opposite to Maduro government because they are still in power, I mean including Rodríguez herself. I do not know if the coin will be sold if opposition leader will be elected but the chance that will happen now is very low because it is the same government till now.

I've searched for a valid proof for the bitcoin claims without success. What we have out there are mainly speculations ranging from 240 BTC to another 600k BTC which was bought with proceeds from sales of gold.

Although it is obtainable that maduro seek out less vulnerable means to safeguard the country finances, but it raises a question as to why they chose to handle the oil proceeds in USDT while they could use bitcoin efficiently.

If they had the bitcoin, then it would now be in the possession of the then VP which is the new president now. The ideal of Maduro would be preserved, unless the VP chooses to play a loyalty game with the US.

Maybe the term should be "owned", but I believed that it should be handled by the next government. But there is some news that the US might also seized their Bitcoins if they really have big amount and put it under the US strategic Bitcoin reserves. In any case, I do not think that they should yield to the US with regards to their crypto in general and we really don't know how big or small stash they have under Maduro or who handles it for them, what office of the Venezuelan government. So for now, everything is on the middle, it is still under control of the Venezuelan, although Maduro is out, his allies might still take over the government.

Why would Venezuela ban Bitcoin? The de facto president of the country (Trump) didn't ban Bitcoin in the US, so why would he do it in Venezuela? How the government and resources of that country are managed will be determined by Washington. The claim that Venezuela has a large amount of Bitcoin has not been verified. However, if it is true, Bitcoin can be used for the good of Venezuelans and the good people of the US. I cam also be used to establish a Bitcoin reserve just as it exists in the US.

If there was actually any BTC stash in place it would have being made known just as that of the USDT was which has now being seized by Tether company. An action which would eventually be non-beneficial to Venezuelans but to the external powers.
Aside that it's for me a mere speculation about the ownership of such proportion of bitcoin, I do believe that government is a continuous process and the purpose for such stash of bitcoin might be made to live up it purpose.

I doubt that they will change their stance on Bitcoin while they are already invested on it or else they are just self inflicting losses to them which is not logical.

They have important matters to tackle specifically their oil supplies that will be taken over by the US which is a big matter compared to their current Bitcoin stance.

Previous president of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro has bitcoin assets and actually their government not only legalizing bitcoin as payment transaction but also has few percent assets saving in bitcoin. Actually the new government era will not banned bitcoin suddenly and need time how to secure the cryptocurrency assets purchasing by Nicolas Maduro to be fiat or cash money.

Dilemma what happen with the previous president of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro after arresting by US government and unbelievable new president of Venezuela giving the Nobel peace for Donald Trump. Actually the conflict happening at Venezuela is purely about oil and United State want to dominated all, its bad way I thing how United State invasion for Nicolas Maduro.

There is Bitcoin in Venezuela, but they did not hold that much which they claimed they hold. The reason why you hear rumors that there is no Bitcoin is because Trump wants to for sure, how many Bitcoin, in whose custody and how he can lay his hands on it. The Venezuelan governments are smart not to disclose any of those information's to anyone.

Did you think it will be easy for Trump to take everything from them? What will be left of the country if their Crude Oil, Bitcoin and other asset are freeze by Trump?

Now that the leadership has changed, so will the stance on many things including economics. They could outright ban crypto in Venezuela if they wanted another storm but I doubt it. That being said, what will happen to the crypto purchases that were made during the previous govt? Stashed like they would if it was gold or other precious metals?
All we can do is just speculate, nothing more. Since Nicolas Maduro has been captured by the Trump administration, they have already frozen their USDT asset, which was announced everywhere. Even if they hold some bitcoin, which is far above the 240btc which was confirmed, I don't think anything will happen to it unless the current country leader wants to sell it off or the Trump administration tries to seize it again by accusing them of whatever he wants, since controlling the country and its wealth could be his plan.

I doubt they will confiscate it to use in the new government they will create. It could also be an additional fund for them, but that cannot be ignored. They need to use it immediately in projects that will help develop their country.

The scary thing is, they might make new laws regarding taxes, since they are the ones who control the country, so they can do that, and also, to speed up the recovery of their country, the people need to comply because they have no other options. It is like America has really conquered them in a way that you can't do anything about.

..., its bad way I thing how United State invasion for Nicolas Maduro.

Maduro is literally a criminal who kept people kidnapped in torture centers and stole the lastest presidential elections in order to keep himself in power for the rest of his life. The was not the righteous president of Venezuela, just a crook who wanted to steal as much money and gold as possible from this country and most of Venezuelans are actually happy he and his wife got captured and flown out this country.

When comes to Bitcoin, of there is actually some Bitcoin in power of this government, it is likely Bitcoin which was accumulated as part of their illegal wealth, instead of a sovereign treasure intended to improve the quality of life of the Venezuelan people.

Is Trump the president of Venezuela, or has Venezuela become a new state of the US? What right do Trump and Washington have to rule Venezuela when it remains an independent nation?

If Venezuela truly possessed bitcoin, they could do whatever they wanted. No one could interfere or make decision for them. It can be added to the national reserves or used to serve the interests of the people and country of Venezuela. There is no reason to share it with of the US

You're right,

They don't even mention bitcoin, instead the USDT, even though Nas some news could have carried it that crypto was being involved, so by default some may assume bitcoin, but reading further in details, there we could find out how they are being specific about USDT, alsoz regarding this coins, we can't say anything, but as usual, we know what usually comes after any coins being declared illegal acquisition or confiscated, after the seizure, nothing more than going to the treasury of the apprehender.

As far as I know, Venezuela already has a new president, so it is up to the new president to decide how to handle the Bitcoin they have, whether she will sell it or use it as a national strategic reserve. However, with the current situation experienced by Venezuela, it is most likely that they will not focus too much on that – the new president is still dealing with the transition period and various problems faced by Venezuela, so the main focus is to stabilize the condition of Venezuela and then, when the situation is better perhaps she will consider a long-term strategic policy for the Bitcoin they own.

Based on the articles I have read, I haven't found any concrete, or verified evidence of Venezuela huge Bitcoin holdings. Venezuela only holds 240 Bitcoins as of 2022, and according to Whale Alert founder Frank Weert, Venezuela has no solid evidence of its Bitcoin holdings. So, I think this news is still just a rumor and hasn't been fully verified. Cmiiw.

Source : bitmarkets.com - Is Venezuela Hiding a $60 Billion Bitcoin Reserve?

Additionally, Venezuela is suspected of accumulating Bitcoin since 2018, with some of the proceeds from the country gold sales.

Reference : indodax.com ( Need English translation to read it )

In my opinion, a change in leadership in a Bitcoin-holding country wouldn't result in a rapid change in policy, particularly regarding Bitcoin, and crypto. Their Bitcoin holdings are a crucial reserve for them in the long term, or in times of economic crisis. Even if the rumors are true, they should already have profited from their Bitcoin holdings, and this requires considerable consideration before overhauling their Bitcoin and crypto policies in their countries.

By the way, according to the latest news I read, Nicolas Maduro has been found not guilty, and remains president of the country. His deputy, Delcy Rodriguez, was also appointed as interim leader before. So, I don't think there is been a change of leadership in Venezuela. Cmiiw.

And they will try to do it as quietly as they can.. No noise would be needed in that case to be caused, because presses would go crazy on such headers.
