A much fairer comparison of Bitcoin vs altcoins would be the first 10 years from the time it first traded. We all know that price growth is astronomical in the first years vs the recent years. Just look at Ethereum's performance in the recent bull run

Total number of the 21 bitcoins is said to be totally mined in 2140 which is 114 years ahead. In 10 year's time, bitcoin market will always dominant the alt markets because AltCoins hadn't shown any point of long term advantage over bitcoin if must lookout to the realities of their performances and reliability.

Bitcoin is still going to dominate the market in the next 10 years because only the approval of spot bitcoin ETF's that happened in 2024 is enough confidence booster to tell us what the future of bitcoin holds. Some altcoins might still withstand the market in the next 10 years, but they might even lose their position in the market, but the market cap. of bitcoin will continue to increase, and its price will also rise as well. Market liquidation always happens from time to time so it's not the first time but the ability to still stand tall after a massive liquidation is what differentiates a super coin like bitcoin to other shit coins so bitcoin will be stronger in 10 years coming and its adoption will broaden.

During the period of their hype, they may do a 20-30X increase within a month or thereabout, but when the hype dies down, so does the coin. There are a lot of them like that. I agree with you on the fact that Bitcoin investment is always more profitable for a 10year duration as compared to 5year plan, because it is still a more preferred option when it comes to wealth accumulation, protection of money value when considering inflation, and if course it links the world in a way that if it goes out of the crypto currency market today, these altcoins will not still outperform it or thrive in that market.
If you were holding for a ten year duration and this year makes it the 10th year, depending on how large the portfolio now is, moving the funds may affect market movement and sentiments because large fund movement has alot to do with how the market trend goes and only those who panic may make silly decisions, not knowing that you as the investor is just doing what's necessary to secure your investment.

This price chart starts on 2009-10-05 with a price at $0.000764/BTC. From $0.000764 for 1 BTC to today price at $89,962, Bitcoin has grown up a lot.

Market cap matters. If majority of these altcoin are put in the same market cap level as bitcoin, they will be having much lower gains because not enough money to pump.

Though on the other hand, it also shows that you can be throwing money to litecoin and dogecoin blindly and you get more or less the same gain as bitcoin so why not just put it all in bitcoin that have higher liquidity and get that peace of mind.

But still, no one has topple Bitcoin at the top of the market. Bitcoin remains the dominant crypto as it is the prime mover. There have been many altcoins that has risen more than Bitcoin, but still those runs can't be sustained.

Of course, the early birds catches the worm and so that saying is true in crypto market. But still the best time to buy is today and just hold on it as long as you can specially Bitcoin. The return could be huge still and you can make that money and generational wealth that no other assets can give.
