If you're a telegram user, its time to be more careful about scam like this, because they have been using the platform for related activities which calls for more attention, also, this goes o he category of those that cannot do without the use of social media in flaunting about what hey have or worth, a time is coming whereby no one will have to advise them any longer after they must have learnt the hard way.

I don’t know why some people don’t know the difference between AI and human, I know that some people can not recognise it but no matter how hard it is you will be able to recognise the difference between ai or human, I don’t if it is only me, i know when ai robot is use to send messages or something because ai is very fast in what they are doing, as a telegram user, you have to be smart and know that telegram is a place where scammers used to steal from people who are not smart enough to know them, another reason why people get scam in telegram is greedy, when some people receive a message or a link that involves of investment of making profit they will join without thinking about it, some links are messages are from AI and if we are not smart enough we will get scam and nothing we can do about it if we get scammed.

Telegram is not a good place to negotiate business or having any good conversation, there are genuine businesses going on there but the fact that people can change their details and delete their conversations without traces is enough reason for people not to trust anything they see on telegram. Different scams happen on social media but that of telegram is too common and now AI helps them to get different videos and do things that will look very real but all are just to attract and scam people who do not know who they are.

In fact, this is precisely why Telegram is so popular; it remains a “secure” communication channel, in stark contrast to WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, for example.

To be honest, I don't believe that Telegram is now more susceptible to scams. Personally, I have experienced most scam attacks on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, which were also specifically targeted at me and where the probability of someone falling for them is significantly higher. It's also relatively easy to find out more about the victim on Facebook, for example, but this option simply doesn't exist on Telegram.

What you do find, however, are meaningless “I am support XYZ, how can I help you” messages. The likelihood of someone falling for such attacks is probably close to zero.

This is what people fear about the development of AI. On the one hand AI is indeed very beneficial for many people, but on the other hand many people are using AI for crime and fraud. Never mind Zoom calls now even WhatsApp calls can be manipulated using other people's faces using AI and it's so obvious that even laypeople can't tell the difference between real and safe AI.

Yes it actually call for more attention, Telegram has been use for related scams and some scams that aren't related to this one but people are regularly getting scammed on the telegram application and it calls for serious attention.
I think the Application has become more strict and bans account but that is not enough because scammers will always get in again.

AI is so powerful today if you dont have a keen eye to identify if the video or to the people you are talking with is using an AI so might probably you are at risk seems they are using all of the tool just to scam other people actually when i receive a message came from Telegram from an unknown source i immediately ignore because these unwanted messages is a high risk one. This isn't related to Telegram, but I think it's worth mentioning, and perhaps others are experiencing this as well. Where I live, we've been receiving an excessive number of silent calls, and I've heard that they might be scammers who, with a simple "hello" from me, can start an entire conversation. Imagine, if I'm not home, and they call, but this time they speak to my wife, they can literally say whatever they want, and she'll hardly suspect anything, even knowing this possibility.

It's important to be cautious and not click on unknown links. If someone tells me I need to download something, I immediately become suspicious and end the conversation quickly.

I believe this warning is also valid for WhatsApp; many scams happen there too.

I only use Telegram for crypto related topics, and I take everything unsolicited that comes from that App as a scam attempt "by design" . I would never accept a call, and much less a video call that comes from there. But today this is the vector, tomorrow it will be something more sophisticated and difficult to avoid. To be frankly speaking, Telegram is indeed the home of online scams, and before I got into crypto many years ago, I did actually fell victim to lots of Telegram scams, ranging from Fixed match prediction scam, investment scam and lots more others back then when I needed an alternative means of income. And ever since then, I have always known Telegram and a place where you ought not to trust anybody, because everybody is a potential scammer on that app.

To be honest, what ever that happens to be on telegram for me is a redflag not even those gambling site that launches their site on telegram which I fully know that telegram is a scam zone where you could be immediately scammed and someone changes their details without any hesitations. Of course this types of scam could be that very common and easier to those who usually follows up telegram activities or social activities such as from Twitter or other social.

To me I think there should be more advancement in telegram so that it wouldn't be that common to people to maneuver the way the way they wanted. I have had a terrible experience through telegram and this makes me to dislike it with all I can.

As someone in the media industry AI is really getting good at this time, it was already use in a lot of video post production and could generate or render a really great video, this was really possible on deepfakes videos putting someone face and pretending that it is your friend is actually possible especially if you are not someone that have a lot of knowledge on tech, you just couldn't spot the difference on AI videos and real ones. I mean, just looking at social media, there are a lot of realistic AI videos that make us confuse if it is real or AI video.

I guess this just can't be help as we continue to improve AI technology we are also going to face it on scammers and hackers, I mean just hearing about the fake zoom video was just ridicolous but it was really possible to make someone to that or install something on there computer, Some parent or old guy that doesnt know a lot of computers are going to easily fall for it, I know a lot of people that fall on easy scam, like there account was easily hack on social media because they are usually clicking links on their phone, they easily fall on that, Imagine if they encounter AI it is just going to be easy to get social engineer, I remeber someone, they could easily get a fake videocall and then pretend to be the son, and ask some money saying that it's an emergency.

Seeing how AI became realistic and slowly became hard to determine its fake or not, its expected that number of scams will provably raise.

That's why its good to put on our minds that if we saw something offering to good to be true return profits from their investment offered. Also they so exaggerating with those claims for getting passive profits with those offers they say we should tag it immediately as scam, then better not to entertain any offers like this.

I also agree that if we are not expecting any calls or messages then offer something suspicious, better ignore it and turn down and don't show any sign that we are interested with their offers.

Of course, platforms such as X or Telegram could be held more accountable, but they are also constantly playing catch-up with the attackers as the methods of attack are constantly evolving. Whereas some time ago it was scam calls on the phone (Microsoft support, etc.), we are now dealing with completely AI-based scams, so it is hardly possible to prevent them completely.

It is not too hard to search and find available free resources, courses to learn about cyber security and people can avoid scams even they don't have security knwoledge but only have enough caution and carefulness.

With enough carefulness, they are able to feel unsafe about strange things, and can save themselves from scammers. If they can learn, become a little bit more knowledgeable with likely just basic scam methods, they will be almost unable to be scammed.

For example, Telegram offers full anonymity of your profile to the point that you can anytime delete your conversation with other people, along with their messages as well. Bearing this in mind, this became the perfect platform to lure newbies and beginners in introducing various fake projects that may seem genuine but rotten on its core.

Greed have been one of the ways people easily get scammed in to telegram as we have more offers that attracts those who are too eager looking for a get rich quick deal and they are the targeted audience for the scammers, we also have those people who easily trust others they just meet online because of the type of attention which they give to them and once’s they have trusted the person what ever that comes from the persons mouth automatically becomes real to them, even if it’s investment, clicking on phishing link donation etc, it’s best if just all set our telegram to receive message only from mutual friends that way it will limit the chance of scammers getting to us.
