If you truly believe it’s possible to succeed in the long run, then you already know there’s no such thing as overnight success here. It takes time, discipline, and a lot of losing before you even start figuring things out.

So the real question is, would you actually study it, track bets, manage bankroll, learn odds and lines?
Or do you think it’s all a waste of time because, in the end, most of us still lose anyway?

There is usually no form of winning guarantee with or in any form of gambling, so I don't know for other people but for me, I will not become so dependent on betting to the extent that will have to put in effort into studying every thing that has to do with it..
This same time and energy is something I can as well invest in something else more profitable and with better chances of leading me to success with a good level of guarantee.

Lets not forget that the core essence or reason for gambling is to have fun and not to be treated as a business, anybody wanting financial success should invest time and resources in a good business with good profit potential than investing same in sports betting where there is no guarantee of any kind.
The time and effort it will take to study and learn every single thing about sports betting is also about same time and effort it will take to study and learn how to develop good websites, build world usable apps and so on.

It's not a waste of time if it helps improve your winning rate. If you believe you'll lose anyway and just rely on luck, that's another mindset, but you can try and see the difference yourself. Usually, those who put in effort get better results than those who just bet and leave it all to luck. 😄

When you aren’t actually doing it, it often feels like a waste of time and frankly, I’m not into doing that as well neither do I plan on. It feels a little too much in trying to place a good bet. The statistics on certain fixtures is good enough for me, coupled with my gut feeling on how a fixture could turn out, the team ratings and lots more. Well, that could feel like studies but, it’s just few minutes of examining a fixture to make insightful predictions.

There is no harm to learn anything that is learnable. In sports betting, it is a must to know managing bankroll and understanding the odds properly. We also need to understand everything that can improve the chance to win the bets such as knowing the teams and the stats of the games. It is sports betting that also requires analysis, it isn't fully about luck factor. So, we can solely rely on the luck and bet with a random way. I personally a typical of gamblers who spend time for learning all of these.

This will only be possible if you have a lot of time to study, read, watch and listen all about the sports that you are betting with. Because the reality is you need a lot of time and resources to learn the sports, the ins and outs, coaches, athletes and the whole nine yards.
And also, for me it comes with the passion on the sports itself. If you have the inclination to like and follow a certain sports, it means, it won't be too difficult for you to keep up yourself with this sports because you are already devoting already your time to this sports. And betting is just like your side hustle while watching your favorite sports.

But if not, when the case is that - you just need to study the sports because you want to bet and not really into this sports. I believe, sooner or later, it will be like a burden for yourself and later on, will get burnt out while keeping up to date with the sports. And this will not be the same if you really like the sports even without betting.

I am already doing it and it works for me. If before I'm just betting without clear analysis as long as I have made a bet, no wonder why the result is always not favorable for me, but now I started betting after a thorough study and good analysis.

Although I still lose at times, but the bets I won are more than those losing moments with sports  betting. This just proves that there's no impossible with sports betting as long as you put extra efforts on studying how it works and it will definitely led to a good result.

I mean for sure it is going to be worth it putting in the effort since you are going to win money here, It is not like your effort is going to be waste unless you give it up easily, but I guess whats make this easily is for the fans already where you know what is going on with the sport already, I mean if you are a fan of the sport you have a favorite team, you know what players, you know how they play etc you arleady have the knowledge in order to analyze the game or the sport in order to increase your chances of winning. And I think that's what is going to make it worth it and easy since you already know what is going to, you already have a good prediction every time.

If you are just someone that wanted to earn some money, then surely you might want to learn and put the time and effort on analyzing it, but I guess sportbetting wasn't for you since you just doesn't know anything about the sport it just doesn't make sense why you are going to bet on something that you don't really know, I think sportbetting is for the fans, since it can add to the enjoyment, thrill and entertainment. then it is easy for you to put a bet on it since you know it already. If not then you need to put it some time on it for sure so that you could increase your chances of winning as well. I mean, we are winning to learn everything when it comes to trading, and just to be lucky to earn, it is just the same thing since you want to invest your time as well if you want to earn.

At a certain point I start to use also R , mysql and so on just to create strategies and optimize each bet session.
Unfortunately, I cant access anymore to geektoy (betfair.com tool). But this was for sure a serious way to extract the best ROI from each bet.

Actually I have zero interest on put the same effort on this activity. At a certain point, the time would not pay the profit and you are just risking more and more...

Well, there is no rush in success but let me be frank with you, it's possible to spend time gambling and doing all the possible combinations to win money in gambling, if gambling doesn't favour you, it might be difficult for you to make money from gambling and when I say make money, it's not like you will never win, it's possible but if you do the addition and subtraction of the money you wasted in casino, you will be the one losing while casino keep enjoying.

During the weekends, I do have a rough sheet where I write games I want to bet, I analyze them, take the ones I'm interested, reevaluate them and bet on them and go my normal ways. This is what most gamblers do but guess what after going through all this stress? You may not win any bet from these selections that you have done. That's tells you how stress and uninteresting gambling can be sometimes because at the of the day, nothing is guaranteed.

I don't normally play other types of betting if it isn't sports bet, and soccer specifically. Now before I even place a single bet, I study the game seriously, I check their present form, their head to head, the teams overall stats, sentiments on the game before even looking at the odd.

Most gamblers just go by odd, that could truly be misleading, odds are provided by bookies to play with your emotions and make you a lazy gambler. I normally don't play too much bet, but when I do, I'm like 60% more successful, and that means I gain more than I loose.

So yeah, studying games, making your research e.t.c is good and helps reduce failure rate, but not 100% guaranteed, it's not fool proof even in soccer events, and this is not even applicable to all types of betting. Luck is still the dominant factor when it comes to any type of betting but for some like as I mentioned earlier, extensive research helps reduce your losses and gives you an edge, meanwhile in some, there is absolutely nothing your research can do about it.

I'm sure than they choose random bets, the results will lose more than with bets that are done in their analysis, the victory can be better even though it cannot be said to be perfect.

I once thought it would be great if there was a book that clearly described all the principles of betting for successful play, but I realize there isn't one. I've seen topics here with book selections, but it seemed to me that most of them were more about economics than gambling. Maybe that's how it should be, and to become a successful player, we need to develop many different qualities.

Not all of those books is about economic, they actually discuss about some sport game psychology but won't specifically tell anyone or give one the kind of strategy that is going to make them win or become successful in sport betting.  You are correct to say that we need to develop our own skill or strategy that probably gives more wins than the losses.

I agree. Let's say a sports bettor picked 3 games and really made an effort to increase his chance of winning, he may get 2 of 3, and that's still a win. This is something that those who rely on luck might not understand because they just pick whatever they think will win without even looking at the stats, records, and status of each team and injury reports. Sometimes, that data can already tell which team is going to win, but because we want to maximize our profits, we take the spreads. This is actually where it goes wrong because we must predict how many points a team will win so that we can get the right spreads and still win with higher odds.

If it really worked for a more or less regular profit everyone would do it, unfortunately that's not really how it works.
You certainly have a way of winning more often than normal if you study matches in depth and constantly follow football teams, but you will never have a chance that you can somehow ensure a consistent win over time.
Essentially it can't turn into a real annuity or a job or an alternative way to make safe money.
There is no certainty, even if you get a minimal probability of failure in a bet, for example 10% failure, you still have a high margin of error that could undermine the profit objective, any advice? Play with fun without thinking about the gains, if you win well if you lose well.

Well maybe they don’t just like showmanship or too much attention lol.

But honestly, there are people who are actually good with analyzing football games, but mind you, this doesn’t in anyway imply that they’re perfect in their analysis or that they don’t also lose. Inasmuch as analysis is important in sports betting, winning still depends pretty much on luck, chances and randomness and that’s nothing but the fact. Gamblers don’t win by merely being dope analysts, neither can they rely on luck alone to do the heavy lifting for them either.

I believe gambling is a game of luck. It's a chance thing. There's no special way of getting accurate bets even when we burn the midnight candle for that. I may look at the current stats of teams I want to bet on before staking my money on them but that's where it ends. I won't go into all that tracing of precedence like checking who defeated who in the last two–three seasons ago or anything like home and away game wins. The best for me will be to check teams' last encounters and juxtapose that with their current strength and I'm good to go.
