I like the idea! The Brazilian league has many surprises, and it would be interesting to see us all disappointed each round with Corinthians losing to a team I've never heard of! Count me in, it'll be good to put my statistics to work again! Put the rules here so we can start!

Great idea, I'd definitely join. A friend of mine has a bar that's been running Brazilian Championship betting pools for many years... there are prizes every round, and it works like this:

Correct winner with exact score: 3 points
Correct winner with incorrect score: 1 point

At the end of the round, whoever gets the most points wins, and whoever gets zero points also wins... meaning it's actually pretty tough to score zero. The prize pool is split among the winners. I think doing this for every single round here might not be feasible, but for a long tournament, it's really cool and will bring great engagement.

This round was very surprising for me; there were some results I didn't expect. I'll start with the following game:

EC Vitória 1 - 0 Botafogo

I expected Botafogo to manage at least a draw in the worst-case scenario, even though they were playing away from home, their opponent was coming off a run of 4 games without a win. But even so, Botafogo lost. I think the penalty in favor of Vitória at 27 minutes must have emotionally destabilized the Botafogo players, who received a red card during the 90 minutes, making the situation even worse for Botafogo.

Vasco da Gama 0 - 3 Santos

The number of goals Santos scored surprised me a lot. To be honest, I didn't expect to see Santos win this game, but they managed to win convincingly, and with this victory, Santos left the relegation zone and now occupies position number 14. Vasco da Gama's situation worsened because they remain in the relegation zone.

Mirassol 1 - 5 Flamengo

I confess I didn't expect to see Flamengo win this game so easily. I bet on Flamengo's victory, choosing the Asian Handicap market, and fortunately I was right, as you can see in this photo:



This is a very important victory because now Flamengo is only 3 points behind Palmeiras, and Flamengo has only played 22 games while Palmeiras has played 23. It's fair to say that Flamengo could be level on points with Palmeiras if they win their remaining game. But Flamengo's next game won't be easy. It's against Cruzeiro, who have only lost once in their last five matches. To make matters worse, Flamengo first has to play Cruzeiro in a Copa Libertadores game, playing the same opponent twice in a row, especially considering that opponent is strong. This makes it very difficult for Flamengo to get points in the Brasileirão game against Cruzeiro. I don't know if I'll bet on this game; I'm still analyzing and will see what the odds are.

I believe it's good for us to start, regardless of the number of users, and see the engagement over time. In the beginning, it might even be free, I think that would already help.

Regarding this week's predictions, there's only the Internacional vs. Remo game. Remo has conceded goals in 91% of their away games, so I'm going with over 1.5 goals, betting that they'll concede a lot away from home. You could also bet on Inter to win, but there's a world of chance it could end 1-1. So, I'm just going with over 1.5 goals.

It has every chance of working out well. If each of us puts in 10 dollars, for example, 5 people is already 50 dollars, which is a good prize, plus all the engagement it can bring and even more topics to talk about. Whenever there's money involved in the competition, things get way more interesting.

My time online has been very short and unpredictable. I am not saying that the problem is money, but I probably would not be able to leave my oppinion/bets and follow them in a way that is sustainable.... but, keep my name marked down, maybe in next year this will get better.

I am definitely going to love betting against Corinthians

But speaking of betting... the "GreNal" is getting closer, only 10 days left... my heart will be cheering for a win for the "colorado", but my reason is wanting to bet on the "blue tricolor" to do not end up with a financial loss. In the end, I think I will just stay as a fan supporter.

Finally, the case involving player Memphis Depay and the Corinthians soccer team had a happy ending. I consider it a happy ending because the case was reaching a dangerous phase, according to what I read, because Corinthians fans started putting pressure on the president of Corinthians and they say, I don't know if this is really true, that the president of Corinthians received threats and that's why he reopened negotiations with the player's team.

The president of Corinthians obtained unanimous approval from the members of the advisory board to formalize the agreement with Memphis Depay, and with that, today, August 18th, he can join the squad. Regarding the agreed values:

Who guessed this easy prediction? The game went exactly as I predicted, over 1.5 goals and a potential draw between the teams. Remo's statistic of 91% goals conceded held true, and Inter couldn't control the game, scoring in the 3rd minute and Remo equalizing in the 90+5th minute. Literally in the last seconds.

The next Brasileirão game isn't until Saturday. But there's a Sudamericana match today. I'd put a low stake on São Paulo to win; this is the second leg, the first one ended 1-1. Since São Paulo is playing at home, they have a big advantage. I'm not confident, but it's an opportunity to bet today.

In my case, I only bet on Brazilian league games when I see a probability of winning; I don't bet on every round like I do with Portuguese, English, and Spanish league games. So, participating in that pool wouldn't be viable for me. I don't even participate in the pools of other leagues because I do parlay bets with teams from different leagues. Although I sometimes place simple bets, my main focus is on parlay bets, and I don't limit myself to only betting on teams from the same leagues.


Yesterday I watched the final minutes of the Internacional vs. Remo game. Internacional was winning 1-0 until the 93rd minute and 33 seconds. I was convinced the game would end in a draw, then Internacional player Paulinho came onto the field in the second half, to be more precise at the 63rd minute. This guy committed a childish and unnecessary foul, and as a consequence, Remo scored the equalizing goal.



I don't know what the Internacional goalkeeper was thinking when he positioned himself that way. But it was a goal from a very long distance, and because of that, the game ended in a draw, and Internacional wasted a great opportunity to distance themselves from the teams in the relegation zone.

I believe that initially we can bet on just one match per round, until things really take shape and then we can bet on more matches in the same round.

And if we're starting now, I'm going with Fluminense winning and over 1.5 goals on Saturday. They're playing against Remo, who concede an average of 2 goals per game. And Fluminense is doing very well playing at home. They've won 8 out of 12, while Remo has lost 7 out of their last 12 away games.

The team was already coming from a harsh loss in Sul-Americana championship by 6 x 1 against Cienciano from Peru. The results of today's games were surprising. I will talk about the two games involving the two big teams.

Cruzeiro 2 - 1 Flamengo

Flamengo started the game well, even creating some good opportunities in the first few minutes, which they wasted. The coach's concern was visible. At 21 minutes, Flamengo scored the first goal. What a disappointment! There were only 13 seconds left in the game, and those Flamengo guys just needed to defend well against that attack. But unfortunately, they made a mistake and lost the game. Now they're far behind Palmeiras.

Palmeiras 4 - 1 Vasco da Gama

A great victory for Palmeiras, they scored 4 goals, 1 in the first half and 3 in the second half. Vasco da Gama couldn't defend well against Palmeiras' attack. This victory motivated Palmeiras' fans, because before this game Palmeiras had gone 2 consecutive games without a win. Now they are 6 points ahead of Flamengo, who still have one game less.

Let’s go... several interesting games and my bets on the main ones is....
For the 29th, São Paulo should draw with Bragantino in 1x1, because although Bragantino has been more competitive, São Paulo is playing at home and should hold the score very well.

At 30th, Flamengo should certainly beat Botafogo in 2x1, maybe!? Despite Flamengo’s last defeat, they are still the favorite and are also playing at home this time.

As for the teams "Gauchos" (from state of Rio Grande do Sul), I think the Grêmio will beat Chapecoense without any trouble, and Internacional will probably lose to Bahia (obviously that I am not going to bet on the latter, but that is my prediction).

I generally too have come to the same conclusion after series of bets lost especially in Brazilian competitions and most of fixtures that you expect to win, turns out as a draw and so on. But for this week sunday matches, the teams in the Brasileirão serie A actually played matches where they  actual win or lose, I think only Santos drew there match and it was real expected.

I think on the 30th, I am going to give Fluminense a straight win because they have been looking some impressive this period
