How a byebit vendor mistakenly pay me twice.

However, this is a situation that not everybody would have loved refunding back due to the hard economy in recent time but regardless I just think I did what am surposed to have done by refunding back. So guys have you ever experienced such, and how did you handle it?

It's good you actually sent the vendor back his money, since it is obvious this is likely to have been a result of poor banking network. Because to be frankly speaking, I personally have experienced same scenario like this far back in 2024, when I wanted to buy some coins and I mistakenly transfers twice to the seller on Binance. I contacted him, and he refused sending the money back. So what I did was to report the trade to Binance and also reported the trade to Opay, since the money was sent to the user's Opay account. So what Opay did was to deduct the exact amount from the guys account, insisting he pays me since there was enough proof of double transaction. And Binance also did the same by deducting the exact USDT from his account immediately he transferred funds to his wallet. So after a month later, the same guy I was asking for my refund and refused later contacted me that he is willing to send the refund and telling me to please contact Opay and Binance that I have received the funds, so that they can release the funds that was deducted from his accounts. And ever since after that experience, I can never advise anybody to play smart while trading on crypto exchange or our local fin tech bank apps like Opay, Kuda, PalmPay or Moniepoint, because if only you are able to provide enough proof of double transaction, you will always surely gets your money back.

I really wish there was a better way of converting our coins straight to naira without coming in contact with these vendors. Most of them usually gets on my nerves trying to test if you are the type that's feeble. You see them trying to strike deals with you even when you aren't trying.g to trade BTC but stable coins. The only time I know they strike deals even if it's not necessary is on BTC but they have now moved the nonsense attitude to usdt aswell. Back to the topic in discussion, you did good returning the money back to him.. but I'm sure if it was the other way round, they won't do same. Most of those vendors there are criminals..

Regardless, their are still people that we boldly refuse to refund back the money to the owner and will even go as far as removing every single penny from that account just to make sure they didn't refund and they will eat wella without remorse or having a second thought. However i am so much impress by the op action because not everyone will do such in this present time, people with such dignity and self discipline are very rare and am happy we still have some in the forum.

I swear Dude, if really there's a way of converting it directly to Naira I don't think all these their rubbish will take place, because you have no business with anyone, no time wasting for unnecessary things at all. However the Op has done the right thing and I can say kudos to him/her, but hadn't be the money wasn't reversed to the vendor, it will be another story lol....though we are individuals differences expecially in teams of financial aspect, some people heartless while some aren't, there are still some that would not mind returning the money, but one thing in life is that, " if you chop/owe a white man today, you will pay it back to black man. So weldon job to op.

This is a good act of yours; we can only see rare people, despite the payment error (double payment) from the other merchant's side. But he could have as well explored other means of getting you a refund  if he had written to his bank immediately after he had noticed that mistake, though it will take some time for all these processes, and your bank may lock your account, and you will be forced to go to the bank to ratify the issue.

Any thing is possible these are bank transactions which is subject to human error and even network, it could be that he mistakenly send other money twice due to network instability. But the most important thing is that you sent back the remaining balance to the person this shows that we still have Nigerians which are still good ambassadors of the country because trust is one issue that is a problem especially when it comes to money.


This types of situations once again reminds us all that we should always cross Cheek our transitions before sending money when ever we are about sending money.

You don't allow the criminals get on your nerves bro. You don't need to engage in any conversation with fools TBH. I only chat at most twice during any transaction.
During such stupid bargain I only drop this message "Be informed that if I do not receive my full money, I'm never releasing your coins"
When you underpay me I'll only drop this "My money is remaining x amount, failure to complete my pay, I would file an appeal" and I don't reply more than that.

My only annoyance is the extra time I use in initiating a new trade if a scammer never made payment and the other cancels.

The question you need to asked now is, if it was him would he be able to Make refund to you?
Sometimes while trading we meet good people and bad people but the percentage of good people are really rare where we can't easily meet them at all.
My experience with such is that, one of them marked me as paid while he didn't send funds and I tried chatting with him and he remained mute. Just ask me if it was someone like me that this happened to what do you think I should be doing back in return as a retaliation to what they had already done to me.

This good act has shown that they are still men of integrity in the society. The vendor might have panicked after realising he has made double transfer into your account. I applaud you for your integrity and for doing what majority of people would fail to do.
The vendor would be happy after his money because not everyone would acted the way you did. The vendor should learn from this and reciprocate such good act to others in the same situation.
