Gambling is mainly for men. There are exceptions, but nothing more. This also applies to games in general, including computer games. The majority of the players are men. Of course, there are some specific games where there is a large female audience, but this again refers to the exceptions, not the rule. But shopping and wasting money are dominated by women. Many women gamble, and even bet on sports. Yes! I watched a story about a girl who grew up with a sports-fanatic father, and she also became interested in sports. I don't know if the thrill of gambling and the desire to win are inherited, but she was just like her father. Or maybe she simply always looked up to his example as a sports champion.  Anyway, she suddenly realized that she knew enough about sports to constantly place bets and win. And she succeeded at first. As for the later period of her life, she became addicted to betting because she wasn't used to losing. This is a dangerous misconception, because the casino always wins; it's not a sports opponent, it's an absolutely invincible titan in the long run.

Based on my assumption, I say sports betting, that is, there are more men who engage in sports betting than women. For some games like slots, we could argue that we have more women interested in slots and actually playing them than men.

Actually I see men and young boys being more involved when it comes to gambling, the women are just very few and sometimes you hardly see them playing bet in the shop. As much as I know, the men dominate in anything gambling even though the women also have their own sports which they engage themselves, but when it comes to gambling they are not active like the men. In my own country, no gender is prohibited from gambling, both the men and the women can engage in gambling, the only thing is that the men are more active and more involved in gambling than the women.

I think you're exaggerating. Anyone with money can gamble, be it a man or a woman. There are no restrictions. Moreover, when the chances of winning depend on luck, what influence can gender have? None. I have no idea who (men or women) plays which gambling games, because I've never paid any attention to it. I personally know several women who are passionate about gambling, so I disagree with your assertion that gambling is a male privilege. As I already said, gambling is accessible regardless of gender. Or take Las Vegas and its casinos as an example; you'll probably see more than one woman at the slot machines (and not only).

Even in gambling games that require skill and where other people are playing (like poker), you'll see more than one professional female player. There you have your answer.

From what I observed, majority is men when I go to land base casinos, regardless of the games. Like in baccarat, I think there will be more men playing. But for games like slots, it could 50/50 though.

For sports betting, for sure it could have been dominated by men as most sports are global fan based. And from what I see in games like poker in the US, majority are men who have won the title or playing in elimination.

Perhaps it could be the women are risk averse. As compare to men who are risk taker and willing to go all in.

Gambling doesnt have that gender restriction on which simply means that it is for everyone, it do really just turned out that this particular thing is that being dominated by male gamblers. Why? we men are that very having that high tolerance when it comes to risks and also isnt that too emotional on things but these qualities does have that negative though on which we know that once you are that being that too numb when it comes into the risks on which this will be causing up that kind of confidence on which this will be resulting into excessive engagement. As for other gender like those girls or women then we do know that they do hate on losing money on which they rather prefer on spending it on make ups or any beauty products or travel rather than on spending into something which is that out of their interest. This is why we dont see that much girls playing up that too much.

I still believe that gambling dens consist mostly of men. But that doesn't mean it is not available for women. They are also welcome to play.

I played in the same poker room for many years before the pandemic, but it's very rare to see a woman at the table. It's just the dealer, who is sometimes a woman, and then there's the wife of the owner. If I remember it correctly, I have seen a woman there twice or three times only, and I was there bi-weekly.

It's not gender based, especially now with online gambling. Even my wife is intrigued and played slots online, but then she stopped because it ain't her hobby. Just tried it because she envied my winnings.

I don't think a lot of people realize that the majority of the people who gamble are men because men are more prone to risk money compared to women. Men tend to be more risk-takers and just go with it than women do. Unless there is a study that directly analyzes the number of men and women in the right data collection, we cannot say which gender is more.

Take this study by Carneiro et al. ^[1]. This study seems to match the question by OP to see the differences between male and female gambling behaviors. Males are more prone and exposed to gambling compared to women, so I guess this settles it then?

An updated study might be good, but I think it's still valid since it's just 2019.

As a matter of fact, I would not be surprised to see that women gamble more than men in some countries, or have you not heard about the history of women in the likes of Alice Ivers and Judy Bayley, who gambled years ago and made history or record in the gambling world back then? I think you are greatly wrong, as I see a lot of opposite example in everything you post. I believe there is gender difference in games chosen. Quick games and slots are preferred more by women, games like poker and blackjack for men. Including computer games both gender play, but they play totally different games. Competitive games are for men usually, cozy and mmorpg have a lot of women representatives. Shopping... You have never been to shops that sell fishing equipment or havent visited hardware store recently. If buying luxury bag seems waste of money for men, then pay attention how much men spend on drills, screwdriver and things like that We dont need a regular screwdriver, we need a professional one, even though we would use it once.

I believe most of the gambling games was dominated by men due to the high risk involved which woman doesn’t like as form of their own entertainment.

Man and woman have their own preferences same with spa which is dominated by men but  this was meant for both male and female.

Same idea with gambling. It’s not gender based yet woman doesn’t preferred playing but they are allowed to play.

I have seen gambling mainly being participated by men but now along with men women are also participating in gambling. In the past, men used to participate the most in physical casinos and women did not participate very much. But now it is seen that the participation of men and women in online gambling is being widely observed. Now men and women participate in gambling almost equally. However, there are some things in which men participate more than women, such as men tend to bet more on football and cricket. However, currently there is no gender discrimination in gambling and casinos, and gamblers of any gender can participate in gambling.
