Actually, there’s nothing to feel proud about when someone calls you a gambler. Even when I gamble, I don’t tell anyone. I usually try to gamble anonymously. Because most people in society don’t accept it well, so in my opinion, you should gamble in such a way that no one knows about it. As a result, no one will get the chance to call you a gambler.

Do you feel proud and see it as some kind of compliment, like someone who takes risks and knows what they’re doing. Or do you feel a bit insulted, like it’s something negative and not really something to be proud of?
I would take this as an insult and so would feel a little offended by them saying “Gambler” to me, because in my area if many people know someone as a “gambler” then it would be considered bad and often become the subject of neighborly talk. So I don't want to be considered a “gambler” because gambling is prohibited here, and if my family knew, I would probably be scolded. Lol except my wife maybe she doesn't dare to scold her. Unlike countries that legalize gambling, being considered a “gambler” might feel normal not as an insult.

Curious how others see it, especially since gambling means different things to different people.
This is exactly what I was thinking, while I was reading the thread, until I came across the statement above. Some people will only call you a gambler as a form of mockery. They use the word 'gambler' as a form of mockery or as a way to label you as an irresponsible person. You don't know what's is actually on their minds, so, you might find it very difficult to have the real understanding of what those people are actually thinking on their minds. When people called some that is gambling, "a gambler", their reactions will definitely be based on the tone they use. So I don't think it is a bad thing to retaliate when someone willingly, intentionally, or deliberately disrespects you. When someone intentionally disrespects you and you remain silent, it can sometimes be interpreted as weakness or acceptance. Standing up for yourself helps protect your dignity and self-respect.

Well to me it's determined by the tone the person uses for you. If the person says it in a way it seems bad,or sounds like an insult then it is either the person is just finding trouble or just being playful. But then calling someone a gambler isn't bad. Why Because it's a game and as long as gambling is not your job, then it basically means nothing when someone calls you a gambler.
That said what others say or think shouldn't affect you as a mature mind and a gambler because initially speaking how you take your risk is up to you the funds you use is yours. So yeah when someone calls you a gambler you can just ignore the person. And again if you don't tell someone you are a gambler how would the person know That is to say staying quiet is another way to avoid stuff like that.

Well, there's nothing to be ashamed of being called like that if you're a responsible one. I guess that the meaning of it is tied with being irresponsible because that's how the society sees it, they see it that gamblers are irresponsible and becomes addicted to it. For me, I won't get mad or take it as an insult if that's the reality. But the others might be insulted if someone calls them that and their partners and families don't even know that they are gamblers, and that's why it differs per situation and if your family is open about it.

Sincerely speaking it does not always sit well with me whenever someone call me a gambler, why because I don't think I am a gambler. for me I believe that a gambler is someone who frequently Gamble openly be it on the gambling site or in a gambling Hall. And I'm not the type of person who frequently Gamble on a gambling site or in a gambling Hall. in fact I barely go to a gambling Hall to gamble, and I don't gambler openly. I always gamble on my device only on weekends, and after staking my games on my device I go talk to view center or a bar to enjoy myself and watch the match. And in the process of watching the match I don't even behave like someone who stake money on that match not at all.

Gambling as it is isn't a bad thing as we all know, what makes it bad is how you use it and how addictive it is to you. I wouldn't get upset when called a gambler. But I strongly stand the the fact that gambling shouldn't be what you expose, since the society sees people who gamble as those who are unserious and constantly flaunting money with no gain.

In my country, it's referred to as an insult. Not because they don't know they're gamblers, but because the name 'gambler' has already been labelled negatively so that it sounds so bad as someone calling you a prostitute as a woman. But when gamblers call each other 'gambler', it's more of a fun time, and the person might reply using the same energy. Because they're into it together. Due to this, there are people who gamble, but only their inner family knows about it. They feel it will ruin their reputation if people know they're gambling.

If you gamble in secret there is no how anyone will know about it up to the extent of addressing you as a gambler in public, before someone calls you or refer to you as a gambler they already know what they are doing if they are close to you and you don’t like what they say you can always approach them to caution the person but if they are not you can either ignore and behave as if you don’t know that you are the one they are referring to. But I don’t see anything bad about gambling that you have to hide you being a gambler unless you are not proud of what you are doing or you spend more than you should spend, if not what’s more important is to be secretive of what you spend and when you win in other not to attract target in your back.

In my country even though there are a lot of active gamblers who play on local sites or crypto sites because casinos don't exist here but when calling someone a gambler it would be considered an insult.
The reason is very simple, gamblers still have a negative stigma so saying gambler even if he is a gambler will still be considered as an insult and the person might get angry for being said like that. Gambling is still a taboo but it is an open secret but not everyone will admit they are a gambler in my country including myself who will not openly say I am a gambler (except maybe on forums) because I realize when I admit this in my country or in my neighborhood then it is certain that negative views will continue to exist for me which makes me prefer to be closed and as much as possible not many people know that I am a gambler.

It's only a person that think dip will add meaning to been a called a gambler, there is nothing wrong in it though unless if it becomes a troll. Their are some people that can be annoying, they will you call you names jokingly and laugh about it and will stop, also there are people that will call you name and wouldn't stop, some can go length to make it a sing until they get tired of it, such people are who I call trolls because they will stay hook on your neck. There is nothing bad in word unless you take it as offense but I will advice you make your gambling lifestyle to be private. Whether they call you a gambler or they call you another name related to gambling if you hide your gambling activities, nobody will know that you frequently gamble or choose gambling as full time job. When you make huge amount of money, people will not want to leach you dry just because they see you with money.

The sad truth about it is that from our culture and perspective of gambling it more like a bad habit or something that is not good so when that sentiment has been created already when you are called a gambler it’s more like you are being stereotyped but in other part of the world it could be quite a compliment but from here it’s more like someone calling you a useless person or someone who can’t achieve anything in life, so it might be considered an insult from here.

It depends on the tune and what lead to that action. No matter how much I love gambling, I will still prefer to be called by my name. Gambling is my personal business which I do online where I enjoy some sort of privacy, I don't want that to change and my gambling become a public knowledge. Anyone that will leave my name and chose to call me a gambler is simply being disrespectful and definitely looking for my mouth. This is not that I'm shy to be a gambler.

The culture in us shows that when we are called as gamblers, that's an insult and treating us lowly. So, if there are gamblers offended by it. I can't blame them for their reaction because that is what it is to them and the society really looking down on the gamblers. Because of how it impacts the lives of the people that are into gambling and how irresponsible they become. And that's why if that's a very insult to them, they only have to make it right by showing on how responsible they are as a gambler and with their lives.

It depends on how a person describes me as a gambler. Because some people think of it negatively. Well, most of them. Of course, I have nothing to be proud of because I was just a casual gambler. But if I do this professionally and make it a living, what is there to hide?
But because a lot of people viewed gambling negatively, that is why we assume that calling us a gambler is an insult. We'd better ignore them. Only a gambler can understand us, not these people around who are not into gambling.

Curious how others see it, especially since gambling means different things to different people.
People calling me a gambler is not a bad name because, I gamble with what I can afford to lose and don't get carried away withy gambling activities and am proud of being call that unlike some gamblers that use money meant for the family to gamble and become a disgrace to their family in that way when people sees you, you become an insult to gamble. Gambling is for entertainment and should be left like that and not allowing persons to see gambling as an insult to gamblers because of the addicted ones.

Depends tbh, I don't feel anything even they told me that I like gambling, it's not a compliment but it's not an insult, it's a hustle for me. We're on this field because we're doing a way to reach financial freedom, even though gambling isn't really a good idea, but trading and investment is also gambling so in general, it depends on how you think. You like risks, as long as you're not losing massively, it's fine whatever they think of you, as long as you're consistent and doing good things, as long as you're here for the grind, it's fine.

The first time I heard somebody proudly call himself a gambler I was quite shocked then because I knew that people gamble but they don't say it proudly outside of where they gamble. Thanks to modern gambling where you easily see bet adverts on TV, billboards and on social media, even on bank apps so it's no longer a big deal like before to identify yourself as a gambler or bettor. I don't go around saying that I'm a gambler but if a discussion drifts to gambling I can say that I gamble so they will know that whatever I say that it is from experience.

If you call me gambler outside the forum, it depends on how the person calls me gambler, and the condition which I am that makes the person calls me a gambler thats going to determine if am going to get angry or not. If we just joking and you call me a gambler, I have nothing to be mad at because I know it’s just a joke, but if we are in a middle of a serious discussion and you call me a gambler and it sounds like an insult, then am just going to be mad at the person. If not for the person you close to, if a random person calls you a gambler in my community, they might just be trying to insult you, because they see gamblers as a useless set of people here.
