I always find myself quiting gambling/the game after experiencing a significant win, this is usually in fear and uncertainty that if I continue to gamble, I will end up losing the profit I had managed to gain, so after every win that gave me a significant amount of profit, I always take a short break from gambling so as to allow me make judicious use of the money.

I understand perfectly well that for some gamblers, a major win is often a licence to increase their stake and gamble more harder than they were doing before the win, but this is not my type of person.

Yes, I agree with you on this. But for someone who has just started gambling, winning is very exciting and is the first reason for stepping towards addiction. When a new gambler wins from gambling very easily, he steps towards addiction.

It all depends on your kind of, or I'll just say your level of discipline.mos gamblers gets too excited or carried away during periods of wins. They begin to break their rules and fail to apply proper risk management to their games.

Fortunately it works for them for a certain period of time, but over time you realise that it's not that they suddenly become some experts but they have been lucky throughout that period.

Well, in my personal case, I have never made what could be considered a big win, but if you understand for decent win what you could spend in one day what you could spend on a day of vacation without going too crazy, then I must say that when that has happened to me in the past I have reacted the same way: overconfidence kicked in and I lost a great part of what I earned, only to quit just in time and save a small percentage of the price (less than 30%).

To me it depends on the amount of it is something big, I will not gamble for a long time. I will consider taking a break and then look were I will invest the money.

If the win happens to come consecutively, that is the most dangerous part that will have a negative influence on the gambler. The greatest form of discipline is needed after a big win because that is when recklessness begins, as the dopamine level rises and gives room for impulsive decision making that could  change the outcome negatively.
