Hi guys

I signed up few days ago, and I've been wondering how this sites works, fortunately I managed to understand how to make a post and that is why I came to the head topic that interests me which is Bitcoin Development and Technical Discussion.

I've known bitcoin for a while and even make use of it but I clearly don't understand how it works technically to a large extent aside from making transactions and understanding that's it's a decentralized currency.

My reason for joining this forum is to learn how bitcoin works technically, I'll be pleased to get a mentor who can help me understand better.

Thanks guys.

It is a very good idea for you to have decided to understand the cryptography and it’s technicalities it will make you journey interesting and you will as well know how to secure your coins even more.

My reason for joining this forum is to learn how bitcoin works technically, I'll be pleased to get a mentor who can help me understand better.

I have some recommendations of websites that will take you through bitcoin technology from the basics to advanced aspects and I can assure you that you will enjoy it as you begin.
You should check the website below you’ll get enough information as regards bitcoin and its technical ranging from wallet, node, transaction structure… a lot more this website can be a mentor on its own it is interactive and ask questions  that often comes to your mind as you study and also provide solutions with visual representation if necessary. https://www.lopp.net/bitcoin-information/technical-resources.html is also good list technical resource. But IMO all of these probably should be read/checked after reading more basic stuff from Learn Me A Bitcoin website or Mastering Bitcoin book (https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook) since those are more structured.

Thanks once again.

You're in the right place to get useful information to aid your learning. Sadly, many were here just like you claiming to learn but disappear after being provided with relevant information. If you're not consistent during learning, you'll find it difficult to succeed.

Have seen some nice recommendations up here and I will like to add this to for you incase you have not seen it yet. If you can learn by watching videos, Pmalek already got you covered with this thread. Bitcointutorials.org: Sort and organize Bitcoin tutorial videos on YouTube. You should check it out.

I like posts like these because it reminds me of when I first realized that using Bitcoin and understanding Bitcoin are two different things.  Sure,  making transactions is very easy and simple,  and it looks like a really simple app, but understanding what is happening behind-the-scenes work like blocks, nodes, mining, keys, consensus, etc  are the things that take effort to learn.

To me, the best way to approach bitcoin dev is patience and curiosity,  and not really speed. You should start with the basics: what the structure of a blockchain is,  the role of private and public keys, the function of nodes, etc. Only after that would mining, scripts, and security will start to make a lot of sense to you.

And don't be in a hurry to find a mentor. You can learn all what you want on this very forum by reading old threads,  ask good questions,  and try to pay good attention to the tech discussions, Bitcoin is a system that rewards people who are willing to dig deep.  So for you wanting to learn how it really works is a very good start.

maybe you can get a mentor if you just interact and engage with people around here but honestly even if you don’t have a direct mentor you can still learn a lot just from reading around

Since you intention is to learn about the technical aspect of bitcoin, give it more of your time, because you will have to be more active online, reading on other peoples comments and also learning form other materials that has been supplied to you via the previous replies here through their respective links, there is a technical section also here, where you can ask questions and learn more from what they will respond to you, while you can as well use the beginners and help section to ask on general questions about bitcoin or crypto.
