I agree that big money not only brings out the essence of people but also makes them worse. When all my friends got rich, they stopped talking to me, even though I constantly defended them at school and was friends with them when they were true outcasts. This was unexpected for me, and I learned a lot. As for big money, we all see what's happening with the Epstein case, and it infuriates me that all those people who told us we should be chaste and not pick our noses turned out to be perverts.
They all turned out to be complete scum, and I hope something will change. Money really does change people, but for the worse.

Gambling is not what will define someone's intentions in life. You will see some people that are rich but prefer to just get richer with drug businesses. That is how life is. If such people win a lottery, that selling of drug nature will not stop as they see an opportunity of making money from it.

The thing is that wealth amplifies a person's character. If the person had positive plans and hits such a jackpot, he goes on to achieve it but if reverse is the case, he uses the money for illicit business. There are also stories of those who were careless with their winnings and squandered them all with whores and clubbing and that is who they were even before hitting a big win. only that they couldn't afford the lifestyle earlier.

I think it is great to see people who have invested their money so well that they have made from the initial amount that they won to 1 billion dollars which is a huge achievement. I think those who turned bad or went into crime after winning their jackpots were criminally minded before their wins. The only thing that would've prevented them earlier was either they lacked natural boldness into such crimes or they realized that their state of poverty wouldn't give them any confidence at all. This is one bad thing money does – it boosts one's confidence. Anyone who suddenly comes into wealth and isn't careful managing their desire is likely to fall into that temptation. For some people, winning the lottery is a real blessing, for others it's a real curse - because it all depends on what kind of person you are in life. Someone who is financially literate and responsible in life will know how to use that wealth in the right way, while someone else who is an alcoholic and addict will burn all that money on booze, drugs, and prostitution.

Exactly lottery wins may look promising to fulfill ones desires but most individuals often ends up with different addictions, I've come across someone that actually made something out of the wins, yes even with the amounts there'll still be an unsatisfied cravings for more wins which will enroll one back to the habits and get stuck. There is just an amount that everyone finds good enough for them to no longer go broke again, a few gamblers get lucky with the jackpot and don't remember what they've strategized to invest in, while some make good use of the money when they become lucky.

Being wasteful or resourceful depends on the individual in person, while it's a poor reasoning to have millions and choose to put it into something illegal, most wealthy people raise their capital from illegal business, afterwards venture into legit business to maintain their wealth, being smart is something of personal choice.

I wouldn't want to be a famous lottery winner, its the perfect storm imo.  You are now rich but currently poor with poor security and a cheap house easy to break into and immediately are a target.  Sounds like a setup for a disaster movie if not with constant attacks, you will get a deluge of scammers arrive at your door.  
   I've heard of a scam where they use the details of a famous winner and any story of them giving part of it to charity or their community so the scammers approach people trying to convince them to give details and pay a fee to qualify for an award from this winnings fund.   Just being famous in general is a full time job imo.  

  My personal choice stay boring, tax shield as much as you can and spend it gradually with time and thought.  Obvious ideas being to fully fund your retirement pension and also healthcare plus pay off debts, do all that and even a million is just basic money.  
  Do not use the new cash to go into crime, clearly a bad idea as your name is famous now so you got a spotlight on you and will be found out, be recognizable from the news story articles etc.
