Newbies should be careful; some people pretend to be customer service/support and direct you to a scam/phishing site.
I had a problem yesterday.
I staked altcoin on a website and wanted to withdraw the coin, but got a problem and stuck to withdraw. I am a bit panicked. Then, I went to the official Discord asking my problem in the general chat. [...]
Newbies should really pay attention to this experience. It seems trivial, but it is very vulnerable to being victimized. Many people have fallen for scammers, and most cases come from impersonators or imposter scammers (posing as official). They usually have a well-prepared plan to obtain details you shouldn't share with anyone, especially private keys or seedphrases. I have personally seen this happen, and these scammers usually exploit specific communities to scout for potential victims. I have also seen these impersonators on Discord and Telegram. Therefore, you need to carefully verify the information you receive, including who you are communicating with. Don't be easily fooled by simply looking at their profiles or usernames, which can be edited or modified (similar to official ones), and pay attention to whether they are an official member, or not. By the way, I suspect the scammers are watching you when you start asking about your problem in the general chat, because scammers are everywhere, ready to lurk, as I just mentioned.

This was a pretty common thing on Discord, they are taking advantage of someone that wanted some help on customer service and pretending to be the customer service, it happened to me a lot of times in different blockchain projects on discord, when I posted about help, or asking the support it is on general channels so a lot of people are going to see it, and there are really a lot of scammers that is going to DM you, and admins are already warning members of this kind of trick, if you are not aware of it, you could easily fall on the trap. When I was new to projects, there were a lot of times as well that I almost fall on it, but luckily I was just too lazy to followso many instructions and realize it might be a scam, and it was actually, now I was too afraid to even click any links.
There are a lot of people who fall on this, which is why they keep on doing it. Imagine if they just got one guy that have a huge amount of his wallet, then it's already a huge payout for the scammers, and weekly scamming work is already paid. It's easy to spot the red flag we just need to be aware of it, because it's difficult to get scam if you know about it.

Scam threat on this format has been existing for long, whereby you see people in personating account and claim to be the intended organization or customer agents they are not, but if we are being sensitive enough, we are going to observe that there is a little difference that could indicate they are in personating and we are not on the right chat with them, because before you know it, they are already demanding for what shouldn't be requested.
Most of the scam which we are seeing now are days are old scam that have existed and many of us are aware of them but they are being modernized and if you are not carful enough due to how carful this scammers are you won’t notice that they are implementing someone they will appear very real and cover every error they could have have made them appear as scammers, best way to just deal with some of this scammers is when they start asking for something which you know support will never ask from you in the first place.

Scamming happens when the other party feels you are in panic, you are aggressive and you are highly emotional. That paves way for them to easily trick or deceive you until they start seeing you're slowly falling on their trap.
So it pays to be calm and still remain resourceful and cautious even when you are finding for solutions. True knowledge comes from being firm and relax, even if you think deep inside that the amount inside your wallet is at risk of losing.

Yeah they try to attack people's emotion and desperation to get immediate help on their support, that's the reason why there are lots of impersonations happening in different channels. Its important for people to know such act exist and they should not go directly to those people sending message first to them. Also usually support don't send message first to anyone and those who did that first is clearly a scam. So people need to be vigilant with those actions so that they won't fall from any potential scams. Since scammers just lurking up on different groups waiting for vulnerable individuals which can be their potential victims.

The real customer support do not sent you a DM multiple times so if you are receiving that often and looks like they are up to something, block them immediately. They are those scammers trying to take advantage with the situation.
No customer support would ask your private information that would compromise the safety and security of your wallet, but they will just ask basic information that would solve your problem and comes up with a good solution.
Be suspicious all the time, especially in times like this. It pays to be like that than to easily fall for them.

But, after several steps, I realized that I was being deceived, yes, that website asked me 12 mnemonic seeds.
Yes, whatever the problem is, there is no one in this world ask you to write a mnemonic seed. If there is, it's fix 100% scam or phishing!.
I must encourage you all here, even in panic, you have to still calm down to always think, and be aware of the situation.
My problem was solved after the real customer support told me that they have a problem with the UI.
That is why knowledge is paramount. If you didn't know that a seed phrase is not meant for sharing, someone could take advantage of you. Sometimes one might even find themselves in a tight corner, not knowing what to do. Don't just make decisions when you don't know what you are doing because you may be making mistakes. When you are in difficult situations, the best thing to do is verify and do your research to be sure; if not, you will end up making mistakes and getting scammed in the end. Knowledge is very important because it is a tool that is used as a guide to prevent one from falling victim to scammers.

After a while, someone chat me and admit as customer service, He told me if I have a problem with RPC (while connecting to Metamask). He directed me to the link to connect Metamask to rpcdebugger[.]xyz < this is a scam or phishing site to clean RPC.
This is exactly where many people tend to make the mistake of believing the impersonator. Just because they messaged you upfront impersonating as customer support and asking for your issue doesn't mean they are the real customer support. This is nothing new and has been happening since a decade in the crypto community. If you want to contact the customer support then the best option would be to go to their official site and then initiate a chat or email chain from their official channel. Phishing sites are common and the easiest way for scammers to lure victims into giving up their credentials.

Scam these days is taking different dimensions and we have to be more careful in other not to fall of any of their trap set in for us, just something like that of impersonation is also one of the easiest route that they have been using to deceive us, thinking that we are connecting to the right source not knowing that they are only but an impersonator of the intended platform, there are fake sites and there are also fake customer representatives.

Impersonators aren't a new scam. The "Won't PM first" label often attached to the names of official support contacts isn't just a visual trend; it's an important reminder that shouldn't be ignored, even in urgent situations. Otherwise, you could potentially suffer greater losses.
It is not everyone that can take note of that, and once a newbie is having a problem, social media’s are one of the first place they see as the best place to get their problem solved, they will just go through an official page if that same company and then state their problem, so anyone that responded to them first will serve as the customer support they can’t differentiate the real customer support and the fake support or scammers; that is why they should just try as much as possible to avoid social media when seeking for support because scammers are there looking for victims.

Impersonation is not something new. Scammers have always used this method to scam people when they suspect that their target is in his or her vulnerable state. It is now a common practice among Scammers that whenever one genuinely asks for help from a public space, there would always be at least one scammer who would claim to be of help. They even go as far as promising offers that will make you fall for their trick. I get messages like that alot, even messages targeting fiat accounts. They tell you they are from customer service and that there is an error on your account that needs to be fixed urgently by them. Everything goes well until they start asking for very private information. Let's all be careful out there.

Well, this is a social engineering attack combined with a fake website. You were lucky that the person designed the attack that requires entering the seeds but not all attacks require the seed phrases, some can let you to connect your wallet and drain the balance without requiring anything else. Always make sure you are entering the official website and it is important to bookmark it too, because sometimes we will not check the characters properly and ended up losing all our money.

Thank God you act smart not to call the seed phrases to the scammer because it will have take the scammer not to withdraw your coins , I think many newbies have learned a new strategy scammers are using to have way into people wallet, base on this new strategy scammers are using now it will be easy for new bitcoiners to fall victim to scammers because they will be thinking they are real customers care that will help them to find solution to some issues, when you meet the real customers care you will recognize them because they will tell you not to share your seed phrases with anybody, and they will never request for any one seed phrases.
