Well, with the look of things, most people are into gambling because they think they can become successful through it or they can be doubling their money whenever they want, and this mindset has lead most people astray, as it is not helping them or contribute any positive thing in their lives, instead it will deprived their joy and happiness and leas them into destroying their minds, by making them to go against the gambling instructions such as chasing after their losses, gambling with the amount they can't afford to lose, not settling limits to their gambling habits and not also having self-control, which these are the important things one needs to exhibit for the sake of their wellbeing. But, nevertheless it totally depends on individuals on why they gamble, as everyone has their own reasons why they so gamble.

There is no way to become successful through gambling because there are so many gamblers that had been gambling for years but still unable to reach that level of success. Deep question. Personally while growing up as a teen, a couple of things I couldn’t afford so I delved into gambling with very low stakes. I had a goal and in less than 3years I passed that threshold. But the feeling never goes away, you hit 10k, now you’re chasing 50k, it’s an unending cycle so I picked discipline over it. A lot of us start with genuine reasons but end up being caught up with greed and quick dopamine. From time to time, it’s safe to reassess yourself and know if you’re still in reality to the reason why you started in the first place. It’s okay to disagree, we have different experiences.

Funny enough, quick dopamine and greed are things which are not exclusive to gambling or betting. You take gambling and while it is true we start with a fixed amount of money, and even if we start winning against the casino, we always start to ambition more and more money, until the edge of the house kicks in.

Greed also is in other braches of life, like investments, businesses and career. I have seen countless times how hundreds or thousands of people got carried away by greed and because of that, investors lose a huge amount of their capital.

Just like the title say, why do we gamble? This is a crucial question that if it's been asked everyone will likely say they gamble to have fun and to be well entertained maybe at their free or bored time.

But if that is the case why do we usually complain most times when we lose or why the persistent chasing of lost or try to get back our lost each time we lose in our gaming streak , perhaps is it that some of us aren't sincere to our self when we usually say we only gamble for the fun? I do concur with your argument that most individuals get into gambling with the wrong attitude. Many people think that gambling will turn their financial status pretty soon, particularly people who are not doing well with money yet the truth is that gambling is all about luck and it is an extremely risky game. No one can ever be sure of profit. This is why it is the healthiest to take gambling as a form of entertainment. The players are not supposed to spend money they cannot afford to spend and they should control themselves during gambling. The concept of making a big profit out of a little sum of money lures a large number of players. But people use gambling as a way to make money so they must changing their mindset not to use gambling to make money but only for fun and entertainment. They must know that gambling gives risks and if they play more, they will face bigger risks and that is something that difficult they will accepts. I've never complained about gambling losses (at least not on this forum). 🙋 I also never try to win back my losses (I know full well how dangerous and futile that is).

For me, gambling is both entertainment and risk tolerance training. I often act like a very boring and conservative person. Therefore, I simply need to periodically enter a world of chaos and engage in a duel with luck. It makes my life more vibrant and interesting! And if you consider gambling as training, then it doesn't matter whether you win or lose.

Absolutely. Years ago I knew a guy who was going to casino to play roulette just to lose be comforted by the staff. He enjoyed the compassion(although it might be fake), free drinks proposed to him and the wishes of good luck next time, stuff like that. He was rich, so, winning $1,000 was nothing to him, but losing $1,000 gave him all what he wanted. Rich and lonely, that what he was.

Most people are not being honest with their response, they might say that they gamble for fun but at the end of the day they stake huge amounts of money, this isn't what someone that gambles for fun would do. A lot of people chase profits aand gamble irresponsibly but still claim to gamble for entertainment. Some people gamble the wrong way and still think that they are having fun when it's actually causing harm.

One thing you should also know is that all fingers are not equal, though i understand what you saying there are people who actually say that they are gambling for fun and yet they stake with huge amount of money some with money that they can't even afford to lose, there also gamblers who uses large amount of money which they can actually afford to loss, most of the world celebraty sometimes gamble with big money and to some persons that money is big because they haven't even seen such amount before but to them they don't even know notice if such money left their account, but even way it is lets always gamble responsibly.
