Yesterday, I was playing Tower (yea, same old), was having a bad streak and I found myself doing this crossed fingers gesture (as if I am fed up, and want my luck to change): https://talkimg.com/image/UEqt2T (Image from Evan-Amos | Wikimedia)

The other time, when I am succesfuly able to recover losses I find myself doing this fist bump: https://talkimg.com/image/UEqFr1 (Image from johnwnguyen | Wikipedia)

Now, what gestures you do while gambling?

Edit: I am very well aware that these signs make no difference in gameplay whatsoever.
In my opinion, it's a spontaneous movement that we make, a reaction that arises when we get results, whether they are in line with our own desires or not in line with what we think. I once found myself jumping when I got a free spin with a high bet amount, because it was unusual, so I spontaneously and reflexively jumped. Everyone can experience this, even outside of gambling. However, when I gamble with a low bet amount and get a free spin, it doesn't make me react spontaneously; I just watch it. And maybe some people are like me, but I think that when they get unexpected results, there will be a reaction that may be quite enthusiastic.

I don't think I have this kind of movement when I'm gambling (or maybe I'm not aware of it) but there are some things that some gamblers always do like some of my colleagues who play slots they always light their cigarettes when they get a freespin bonus during normal spins and this is not only done by 1 person but there are several of my friends who do the same thing.

It's just that for myself I don't think there is any movement because I only play in sportsbetting so maybe the additional movement is when I bet and watch what I bet (more often when Madrid is playing) I will react when I win or lose, but this may not be part of the gambling reaction that I do because this is more like a reaction when I watch the match.

Mine are not signs per se. They are more like words and phrases I utter under my breath. I would sometimes catch myself saying, “please” when the slot wheels is rolling as I am begging it to hit a jackpot. Lol, it doesn’t happen like that. Other people shake nervously and it happens to the best of us whether we are playing responsibly or not. It just happens to be a human subconscious reaction.

I can relate to this a lot. Although we are all well aware that gestures or words would not make a difference, our feelings creep out in the second. I have also observed that I usually stop breathing when something is about to come out, particularly with slots or close bets on sports. I also sometimes feel like tapping the screen or the mouse in a manner that it will somehow assist in the result coming better. When the streak is terrible, I become abnormally silent and engrossed. All these are simple habits of human tension - they do not influence the game in any way, but they are clearly demonstrative of how strongly we get engaged in the game.

You are right, these movements are often spontaneous and something that emanates from one’s subconscious and it is not like you planed to do so, some people don’t even notice these things as much and others on a few occasions or get to notice only when told. Some also have this done and could only noticed when the anxiety is gone.

I guess anxiety is number one factor that causes you to make such involuntary movements without even noticing just like the way I kick my feet whenever I’m watching a tough match and some just leave their mouths wide open in amazement without even knowing they do.

Why are you phrasing the question like it's some kind of a norm to make hand signs or gestures when losing in order to turn your luck around and win instead? I've never seen or heard about anything like that, if it's something you do then don't make it look like some general stuff everybody does, I don't do it and I certainly do not know anyone who does, it's a bet not some superstitious event where hand signs get me the win when I make them.

Almost everyone reacts the same way when they win a bet. I mean that "yes" sound or reaction, especially when we are actively watching the game and it finally enters, but for losses, I just have to either shout "fuck" inside of me or say it out and let go. Everyone just has how they react at every given event, even when that reaction has nothing to contribute to the event.

I dont do it always, but sometimes, when I place a relatively large bet in a game that has quick outcome, after pressing BET button, I close my eyes, open them after maybe 10 seconds and look at my balance, with a hope that has increased dramatically. I know it is silly. I am fully aware that I risk with money I can allow to lose. But still, I prefer not to watch that moment when I lose big bet. I think I will be more calm if I see only result, but not the whole process of losing.

The gestures or hand and head movements that people use to express emotions vary from person to person. I don't know if they all carry the same meaning for everyone, but I expect that each person has a specific gesture for a particular situation.

These gestures aren't related to gambling; they're related to a person's nature, and not everyone makes these movements. Perhaps they're related to certain habits in some people, but not everyone has them.

For example, when my son loses a game, he hits the chair or the wall, and if he weren't afraid of losing his phone, he would definitely break it.😇
